This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!
Chapter 508: The Professional

Chapter 508: Chapter 508: The Professional

Six bodyguards lined up in front of Mr. White, their handguns raised as they intently watched the office door, knowing full well that whoever was coming might not fear their bullets at all.

Chen Ke, too, saw the situation inside the door through his Spiritual Vision. There were a total of eight people inside, one sitting on the sofa, and another actually facing the door, even though he was shielded by six men.

The outlines of these eight people were mostly red, with seven of them in red and one in a color Chen Ke had never seen before—it was gold! It was the guy facing the door, protected behind a row of bodyguards.

So far, Chen Ke’s Spiritual Vision had only seen two colors: blue representing all human figures, and red representing hostile figures. What could gold represent?

Instead of standing here with wild thoughts, it might be better to go in and see for myself.

Chen Ke gently pushed the door open and stood boldly at the doorway, just as he had thought, the six bodyguards didn’t pull the trigger but aimed tensely at him.

"Step aside, boys," the relaxed voice of the man standing behind the bodyguards rang out. He placed his hands on the shoulders of two of the bodyguards and pushed them apart.

Chen Ke saw the man: similar in age to Hainerd, his face was plump, and his suit particularly sharp, his tie meticulous, exuding an air of superiority from head to toe.

This man, like Chen Ke, was assessing him, his piercing gaze seeming to see through the thoughts of everyone.

Chen Ke glanced at the man sitting on the sofa: probably in his early thirties, a typical North American handsome guy with blond hair and blue eyes. But no matter how composed he tried to appear, the trembling of his knees and the constant tapping of his fingers on the sofa armrest betrayed his extreme nervousness.

Chen Ke’s gaze returned to the full-faced middle-aged man.

"So, you’re Slavin?" Chen Ke asked.

The man on the sofa didn’t respond.

"Why would you think that?" asked the composed middle-aged man, hands in his pockets, pushing out his large belly with an ease and command of the situation that couldn’t be feigned.

"If Si’s consortium were looking for someone to replace Pankia, it clearly wouldn’t be the guy on the sofa; he looks like he’s about to crap himself," Chen Ke said deliberately.

"I’m not Slavin; my name is White. You’ve got the wrong person," White couldn’t help but laugh. But no one else seemed in the mood to smile.

"Oh... that doesn’t make a difference anyway, since everyone in this room will end up dead," Chen Ke said.

"What are you waiting for? Shoot... Shoot him!" Slavin said hastily.

The six bodyguards clearly weren’t Slavin’s men; they maintained their gun-ready stance, their faces as strained as if they were resigning themselves after years of constipation.

"You’re right; he doesn’t seem like he could replace Pankia, but such a person is easier to control," White said.

"Who are you? After I kill you, I’d like to know what power I’ve stirred up," Chen Ke noticed the small blue rings in White’s eyes.

"I like your attitude, very direct. Let me be equally straightforward—I’m the Chief of the Federal Investigation Bureau," White said.

"FBI? Now I understand why I had to kill two P.W.A.T teams just to get up here," Chen Ke said.

"You’ve provoked the law enforcement of this country and threatened its Chief. I could pin dozens of charges on you and sentence you to death," White said with a smile.

"I am the death sentence," Chen Ke also smiled.

"I understand your arrogance, Mr. Lin. In this era, not many people possess such abilities. We’re both individuals who have touched true, extraordinary powers. In other words, we should be allies," White said, his words carrying a deeper meaning that left Chen Ke somewhat puzzled.

"Cosying up to me won’t help. What intrigues me is why a Chief of the FBI and the chairman of Si’s consortium are hanging out together. Could it be, you’re also after that..." Chen Ke looked towards Slavin.

"That’s between you and Slavin. Do you know what I’m most interested in? What exactly is your profession?" White squinted curiously at Chen Ke.

"Profession?" Chen Ke was taken aback.

"..." White remained silent, quietly watching Chen Ke as if he were pondering something.

"Don’t stop halfway through," Chen Ke said.

"Could it be that you... don’t know what a profession is?" White asked.

"What kind of game are you playing?" Chen Ke shook his head.

"Hmm, it doesn’t seem like you’re trying to deceive me, truly curious. Hahahaha!" White burst out laughing, making the atmosphere in the room a bit awkward.

"Forget it, I haven’t met a normal person during this time." The USP pistol appeared in Chen Ke’s right hand, and his killing intent began to rise.

He decided to kill these seven obstructions first, then go and inquire about the whereabouts of Slavin’s diamonds.

"That’s fine, let me see for myself, then I’ll know what your profession is," White said with a laugh.

Seeing that Chen Ke had drawn his gun, the bodyguards could no longer hold back. Six pistols fired in unison at Chen Ke, immediately turning the room into chaos, while Slavin hurriedly flipped over to hide behind the sofa.

Time suddenly stopped.

The range of the time bomb was enough to envelop the seven people in front of him. The six bodyguards and the bullets they fired froze in place, with twelve crimson bullet heads suspended in mid-air like dancing fireflies.

Chen Ke sidestepped through the bullet storm, calling out each of the six bodyguards in turn, finally coming to the grinning White.

"There’s a limit to arrogance," Chen Ke snorted.

"Indeed, there’s a limit to arrogance," White suddenly said!

"What!" Chen Ke exclaimed in surprise.

White was not frozen by time; he was a man beyond time! Chen Ke hurriedly pulled the trigger, but before he could, White made a grasping gesture in the air, and Chen Ke’s wrist was bound by an unseen force, and his whole body was hoisted into the air.

"Your bullets have blood on them, I saw it. Mr. Lin, so your profession is Blood Shot," White said with a laugh.

Chen Ke took a deep breath, the gun in his right hand instantly disappeared and reappeared in his left hand. He raised the gun and continuously pulled the trigger at White, simultaneously undoing the time suspension.

The six bodyguards’ heads burst open as they fell to the ground, and the Divine Blood Bullets flew towards White. Chen Ke saw many phantom arms appear in front of White, assuming a blocking stance, the bullets turning into droplets of blood upon impact, then dropping to the floor.

Whoosh!

Chen Ke’s right hand was also released, he knelt on one knee, instantly shielding the gun against his chest with both hands, eyes locked fiercely on White’s upper body.

"Illusion Technique, coupled with Blood Shot, is this your trick?" White said with a laugh.

White did not attack; he had been on the defensive from the beginning. White had mistaken the time suspension for an Illusion Technique, thinking Chen Ke had merely used some secret skill to freeze the bodyguards.

Chen Ke, of course, did not offer any explanation.

"What is Blood Shot?" Seeing that White did not reveal any intent to kill, Chen Ke asked.

"It’s an advanced application of Spiritual Energy. Surely you don’t believe that the power of Spiritual Energy is just to hold a few tiny diamonds and turn them into various melee weapons, and then hack away in a barbaric medieval fashion?" White began to laugh.

Chen Ke suddenly remembered what Lin Yaying and Xu Jing often said, "Your era’s use of Spiritual Energy is very primitive."

"What else is there, what do you know?" Chen Ke said.

"When a certain amount of Spiritual Energy accumulates in the body, if you haven’t found a way to advance, it will be like this era... superhuman. But once you know a few tricks, you can enter a whole new world," White said, still smiling.

"Professionals...?" Chen Ke mused.
