This Spiritual Energy is Lethal! -
Chapter 432: Flesh Prison Cage
Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Flesh Prison Cage
Chen Ke steadied himself, and a stench permeated throughout the space.
He felt his cheeks were damp, as warm, foul-smelling air blew out from the walls.
Stepping on the wooden floorboards, blood would seep out of the cracks.
Chen Ke listened intently, hearing faint gasps from many people.
The scene inside the mansion should be similar to Spirit Explosion Space, the difference being that Black Box Space is a crevice connecting reality to the void, while this place is a space twisted by spiritual energy.
Chen Ke activated his Spiritual Vision to survey the situation inside the mansion, and what he saw was astounding.
Full human silhouettes came into view, all stuffed behind walls, above ceilings, and below floors.
It was like a maze made of human corpses; Chen Ke’s Spiritual Vision was completely blocked by these things, unable to see the situation behind the walls.
Now, there was only one path left, the door at the end of the hallway.
Where would it lead? Chen Ke cautiously proceeded forward with his gun ready, knowing they were all here, not dead. He walked ever so gently, fearing to disturb them.
The floor creaked loudly, thick blood spraying out from the crevices, accompanied by inhuman moans.
Those three suspected Secret Keepers had vanished, perhaps they’d already joined the ranks beneath the floor.
Chen Ke felt uneasy about this place. He summoned Florence’s Blood Curse, and a battle coat replaced his clothes.
Immunity to mental attacks and a 1.5 times increase in firearm power were the advantages of this Holy Relic, while the 2 times increased damage received could be seen as this garment being tailor-made for gunmen.
Another perk of the Holy Relic garment was that it kept his own clothes clean, preventing them from being reduced to mere underwear after a fierce battle.
Chen Ke took a few more steps forward, feeling as if the door ahead was never getting any closer, and suddenly a sense of retreat welled up inside him.
He had no intention of solving mysterious events for the Secret Keeper of this era. Even for the Holy Diamond, he could easily withdraw and wait until the sun rose the next day to ambush the other party while they were out.
Thinking this, Chen Ke began to retreat slowly. The heavy scent of blood also made him uncomfortable, his neck feeling sticky and muggy as if someone was blowing air on the back of his neck.
Chen Ke turned around and nearly bumped into a red flesh wall. He stepped back in shock, only to see, upon closer inspection, a woman about his height standing in front of him.
The woman, dressed only in a white bodice and underwear, had extremely pale skin, her limbs coated with a thick layer of blood plasma, displaying messy knife scars on her prominent collarbones.
Blood streamed from her seven orifices as she stared at Chen Ke with wide eyes, her golden hair clumped together with thick blood and carelessly draped over her shoulders.
"Hey! Fuck!" Chen Ke yelped, pulling out his gun to shoot, but suddenly, several bloodied hands burst through the floor with a bang, grabbing onto his limbs tightly.
"Damn it!" he shouted, his right hand beginning to summon the Ash of An Helei.
Before the flame could ignite, he felt a darkness before his eyes, as if pulled into a pool of blood. Countless hands tugged at his clothes, pulling him in a certain direction.
Chen Ke couldn’t make out what was before him but felt himself sliding deeper. Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and he painfully smacked his buttocks on a sloped surface, grimacing in pain.
He held onto his gun tightly as his body slid down a narrow, damp tunnel.
The tunnel seemed to be made of human intestines, and he saw light at the end of the slide. A few seconds later, there was a flash of white, and Chen Ke abruptly collided with a wall.
He expected to fall from the wall, but he didn’t. Strangely, when he came to his senses, he was lying on the floor, exactly where he had entered the room through the corridor.
Chen Ke quickly sat up, holding his gun and scanning the surroundings in a Z-pattern. His Spiritual Vision turned his pupils blue, and the walls no longer had human silhouettes.
Through the large door’s glass, warm yellow sunlight filtered in; he could still hear the sound of carriages outside, despite the barrier.
Reason told Chen Ke that none of this was real—it was definitely night and not suddenly morning—but he still approached the door, trying to open it.
When Chen Ke turned the doorknob, a bloody handprint suddenly appeared on the door window, followed by a second, then a third, multiplying until the glass was completely covered, blocking any sunlight from entering the room.
He stepped back slightly, only to sense a force within the room preventing his exit.
With no way to retreat, his only option was to move forward. If he was lucky, he might even run into the three men from before.
This time, Chen Ke ran to the door at the end of the hallway, and this time, the corridor did not trouble him.
He turned the doorknob and slowly pushed the door open. As the creaking sounds filled the air, a cold draft flowed from the crack of the door into the hallway. Chen Ke pushed the door open, facing a staircase leading downward.
He could faintly hear the sounds of a fight coming from downstairs—a cruel symphony composed of inhuman groans of pain and the echoes of sharp weapons slicing through flesh—making Chen Ke pause on the staircase, hesitant to descend carelessly.
Using his Spiritual Vision, Chen Ke saw four humanoid outlines, three distorted shapes and one normal human figure. After a moment’s thought, he quickly ran downstairs.
A blood-red deformed human skeleton flew out of the door, slammed against the doorframe, spun around, and crashed down onto the last two steps.
Chen Ke glanced at it. The thing was as thin as a late-stage cancer patient with no clothes on, and its flesh and blood seemed melted by radiation.
Chen Ke rushed into the doorway. One of the three who had entered the house before him was there, holding a revolver in his left hand and a large axe in his right, fighting fiercely against a red, deformed creature continuously emerging from the walls.
The axe-wielding man noticed someone charging in behind him, turned with his revolver aiming at Chen Ke. His half-covered face revealed only a pair of dark pupils. He stared at Chen Ke for two seconds, then withdrew his gun and turned to smash a nearby monster with his axe.
Chen Ke joined in the monster hunt, his Type-67 pistol firing Divine Blood Bullets. One bullet was enough to kill a monster.
Compared to him, the axe-wielding man’s revolver needed to be reloaded, but he didn’t rely solely on the gun.
The man put his gun back in its holster, grabbed the handle of his ax and pulled hard, extending the handle to transform the hand ax into a battle ax!
He gripped the ax with both hands, spinning his body like a human meat grinder, charging into the pile of monsters.
The monsters kept pouring out of the walls. The killed monsters lay on the ground, slowly turning into a pool of blood and then seeping into the cracks in the floor.
Chen Ke figured it out and shouted, "They’re endless! We need a way out!"
The axe-wielder took down five more monsters, pulled out a small glass bottle hanging from his waist, unscrewed the cork, and sprinkled the blood inside on his axe. Then, he switched the axe back to one-handed mode, chopping the monster in front of him fiercely.
Chen Ke kept both hands on his gun, protected it within his arms, shooting without relying on the sights, but rather using point-shooting movements.
Blood oozed from the walls, and three upper bodies abruptly emerged. He raised his hand and fired three bullets, blasting their heads, turned around, fired at the monsters on another wall, and then used his elbow to push away a monster that was too close, firing seven consecutive shots into its abdomen.
The Divine Blood Bullets automatically reloaded, with no need for Chen Ke to manually change the magazine. The bullet count also displayed in the corner of his eye for convenient monitoring.
Without verbal communication, the two fought their way deeper into the room, trying to find another path.
Chen Ke didn’t have time to ask the axe-wielder where his other two companions were. He assumed they were either scattered in different parts of the mansion’s supernatural spaces or had met with misfortune.
Suddenly, a crack opened in the wall, and four pale claws stretched out, reminding Chen Ke of contract demons.
The claws snatched at the axe-wielder’s upper body, dragging him towards the crack in the wall. Half of his body was pulled in, and with a muffled groan of pain, he dropped his axe and pulled out his revolver to shoot into the crack.
Chen Ke immediately rushed forward, reaching for those pale claws. An Helei’s high temperature, like the sun, burned through one of the claws.
A horrifying scream emanated from within the crack, sounding like a woman.
Chen Ke grabbed the axe-wielder’s arm, pulling him out from the crack. Sounds of bones and muscles tearing came from inside the crack. With a harsh tug, Chen Ke fell to the ground with half of the axe-wielder’s corpse, blood spraying all over him.
The axe-wielder’s entire lower body and half of his upper body were horrifically torn apart, disappearing into the darkness behind the wall crack. The remaining organs and head were still slightly warm in Chen Ke’s arms.
The crack in the wall slowly filled with congealing blood, as if a torn wound was gradually scabbing over. The red creatures also dissolved into pools of blood, sinking into the cracks in the floor.
Chen Ke laid the axe-wielder’s corpse on the ground, picked up the large axe, holding the Type-67 pistol in his left hand while slinging the axe over his shoulder with his right.
"Tonight, Chen Ke joins the hunt..." His face covered in blood, he felt a surge of long-missed excitement.
