Chapter 671: Chapter 586: The Saint Blessed by the Lord of the Dawn
Parurier hadn’t figured out what respecting others’ destinies truly meant, yet Amberser’s words did make her let go. It was just about tempting a vigorous young man under thirty, which was no difficulty at all.
As long as Amberser didn’t intervene to prevent it, it was no different from directly selling off Harvey’s soul.
Parurier said to Amberser, "It was you who said it, if I succeed in making Harvey fall, you better not come asking me for him!"
"Go ahead, but don’t blame me for not warning you," Amberser said very earnestly, "If you say that I’m merely a mirror glanced at occasionally by the Goddess of Fate, then Harvey is a gem cradled and toyed with in the palm of this Goddess. When you meddled with me initially, it was only a failure of your casting that got you sent to Hell, but meddling with Harvey, I don’t even know what end you might meet."
Reminding Parurier to tempt Harvey wasn’t because Amberser was really heartless and intent on dooming his student.
But rather, it was unavoidable.
Amberser wouldn’t sell Harvey’s soul, but he also wouldn’t interfere with Harvey’s own destiny.
He was his own student, yet on the path of destiny, Harvey had long surpassed him; now all he needed was time to accumulate and take that step into the Legendary Realm.
No one could help in this process; it could only come from himself.
Perhaps Parurier was the disaster that Harvey was fated to encounter, and Amberser had no intention of intervening.
From the very beginning, Amberser had repeatedly emphasized Parurier’s exceptional nature. Harvey was well aware of whom he was teaching and surely anticipated the challenges he would face.
Therefore, Amberser wouldn’t stop Parurier from using her seductive tactics on Harvey.
Every Diviner Mage had to overcome a trial known as passion or love.
Amberser and Mr. Misfortune had encountered it; these two old men had murmured the name of their dream-lover for hundreds of years. Even the ever-hiding Selwyn had his lover and had even realized a method to delay the arrival of fate for the sake of his beloved.
Without such a soul-deep past, a Diviner Mage couldn’t achieve greatness.
This choice of Parurier... although a bit heavy for some tastes, was indeed a trial worthy of Harvey.
Whether he withstood the temptation or utterly succumbed, either outcome would be an elevation of Harvey’s spirit and also precisely the kind of drama the Goddess of Fate loved to see.
Amberser believed this outstanding student was already prepared.
Parurier didn’t care so much about that; she had to obtain what she wanted. However, this madwoman was true to her word, agreeing to complete the Blood River exploration mission before contemplating Harvey’s issue.
With the plan set, the next step was the expedition to Blood River.
Melina would lead troops to attempt to enter the Blood War Battlefield from the periphery, advancing steadily step by step.
Since it was the periphery, the initial encounter with Demons wouldn’t be too many or too strong; with caution, it should not be a big problem. Parurier would take advantage of the main troop’s incursion to infiltrate the battlefield. With her ability, briefly evading Bayer’s sight wouldn’t be difficult.
But before starting, Amberser said to Parurier, "Before departure, go see that guy Salvador. I’ve asked him to help with research on the Nether River, and he probably has made some progress. This guy doesn’t want to see me, so please take a trip to the Second Layer of Hell and bring back the information."
Parurier defiantly thrust out her ample chest and said sarcastically, "Heh, our Clerk is still as spiteful, huh? Such a narrow heart for a big man."
Amberser explained, "If he were so narrow-minded, he wouldn’t have helped me. Salvador doesn’t want to meet me because I’m about to receive the blessing of the Lord of the Dawn. As a sinner who betrayed his faith, he wouldn’t dare face me, a Saint."
"Huh?" Parurier showed a surprised expression again.
"The blessing of the Lord of the Dawn? You? A Saint?!"
Parurier seemed to have heard something unbelievable. If this damned guy could be blessed by the Lord of the Dawn, then Hell should have been empty by now. Who else could be considered a sinner in this world?!
Amberser shook his head helplessly and said, "Your kind of paranoid freak can never understand the greatness of a world-saving hero."
Just then, Melina interjected, "That’s right, my father is the greatest hero! He saved the world, and not just once!"
Amberser waved his hand and said, "Melina, keep it down, I never seek rewards for saving the world."
With adoring eyes, Melina looked at her father as though there was no one greater than him in the world.
"It’s impossible, absolutely impossible! I’ve inquired about what you’ve done. You’ve destroyed the faith of Laine, you’ve ruined the Empire, you’ve killed countless Laine people."
Ever since Amberser’s various aliases were exposed, Parurier had also listened to the murmurs of the fallen mortals from Hell to learn many things about him. The Lord of the Dawn’s followers were nearly devastated by this Lich. How could the Deity possibly bless him?
"I knew you wouldn’t believe it, here, take this."
Amberser did something on the Magic Mirror and sent a detailed list to Parurier’s hand.
"What is this?" Parurier looked at it after taking it. "Paladins, Light Priests... What does this list mean?"
"These are the elite of Laine who descended into Hell because of suicide. The detailed list contains their names. With your abilities, having this list should make it quite easy for you to find those who survived."
Parurier, clutching the Magic Mirror in her hand, angrily said, "You caused over a million Laine people to commit suicide. How could the Lord of the Dawn still bless you?!"
Amberser put his hands on his hips and said proudly, "Yeah, do you have a problem with that?"
If the Lord of the Dawn was at all reasonable, He should understand the great efforts Amberser had put into the Magic Dragon incident. Forget a million suicides; without Amberser’s help, the Laine empire would have been destroyed by now, resulting in tens of millions of deaths, not just a million.
On this point alone, it would be ridiculous if Amberser weren’t chosen as a Chosen of God.
He had said before that if the Lord of the Dawn extended an olive branch, Amberser would immediately accept. This time, he needed to be choosier and see how sincere the Lord of the Dawn was.
The time for the All Nations Conference was almost upon them, and Amberser needed to be prepared.
Not only had he to prepare for the blessing of the Lord of the Dawn, but he also had to be ready to control the conference’s pace, directing the whole world towards the path he envisioned.
"By the way, these Laine people are numerous and likely scattered. You can also ask Salvador for help. A Clerk and a Succubus working together should be much more efficient. Salvador won’t refuse to help these fellow Laine people who have also fallen into Hell; he’ll support you with all his might."
It was time for this Light Priest, who once sacrificed morals and conscience for his faith, to find redemption. He should find his compatriots and send them all to Amberser to serve as cannon fodder.
This was the path of redemption Amberser had arranged for them.
