Chapter 670: Chapter 585 Zariel’s Transformation

When Melina visited Zariel’s Official Residence again, she had a strange feeling.

This place seemed different.

The palace was still the same palace, but through Melina’s golden eyes, it appeared somewhat bizarre, as if it was on the verge of collapsing.

Melina’s eye was special; it could see through all illusions and disguises by essentially discerning the unique flow of magic power.

The palace was filled with potent magic power, but it was unstable, appearing as if it might explode at any moment.

Yet, when Melina blinked, everything seemed to return to normal; she couldn’t be sure whether the magic had changed or if she was hallucinating under Zariel’s intimidating presence.

However, Melina didn’t take it to heart. Her father often said not to guess the actions of the Deity using a mortal’s perspective as misinformation could lead to severe consequences.

Melina, knowing she wasn’t clever, never pretended to be so. Anything she didn’t understand, she would leave for the smart ones to ponder.

This time, Melina handed over a large amount of Soul Currency to "buy" the freedom to enter the Blood River Battlefield at will.

She had thought Zariel would haggle since it was a gain obtained without effort, and, true to a Devil’s nature, would probably demand much. But Zariel agreed surprisingly quickly and didn’t even scrutinize the Soul Currency Melina had submitted.

Melina not only gained the freedom to enter the Blood River Battlefield, but she also received Zariel’s approval to purchase equipment under the same terms as the elite units of the Blood River Fortress directly.

Melina didn’t realize anything was wrong at the time, but when she mentioned it to Amberser, he was visibly shocked.

"Did Zariel take the wrong medicine? Would Bayer agree?"

Amberser was indeed shocked, as an uncontrolled troop entering the battlefield was already a headache for Bayer. Even though Melina had to notify Bayer of her actions in advance, it would still add to Bayer’s command pressure.

Moreover, the equipment could be bought directly. Bayer’s own subordinates had to exchange based on merits, and the storerooms of the Blood River Fortress weren’t infinite. Everything stored there was precious, extracted directly from the pits of the Nine Layers of Hell; it was not something that could just be sold.

And Zariel had placed no restrictions; if Melina bought the equipment and sold it, she could even make a profit.

"This isn’t normal. Zariel’s recent behavior is very unusual."

Amberser had started to feel that something was very wrong. Did Zariel no longer care about Soul Currency? Or did he actually wish to annihilate Bayer so much that he let Melina do whatever she wanted?

That didn’t seem right at all.

An Archduke of the Devils, if not even Soul Currency could pique his interest, what exactly was he plotting?

Amberser thought hard but found no answers, so he chose to ask Parurier.

Although this mad woman was perverse, she had been in Hell for many years, and her understanding of Devils was surely deeper than his own.

However, after pondering for a while, Parurier shook her head at Amberser: "I can’t guess. I’ve been in the Sixth Level of Hell for years, and I don’t understand Zariel at all. However, the schemes and intrigues of Devils are always of three types: what they want to steal, whom they want to kill, or where they want to go."

Amberser rolled his eyes and said, "That summary is equivalent to nonsense. It’s not just Devils; anyone’s schemes are usually of these three types."

Parurier laughed and said, "That’s why mortals always end up in Hell more often than in Heaven. Such is the commonality of evil thoughts."

Amberser couldn’t be bothered to discuss human nature with this madwoman. He didn’t know what Zariel was thinking, but the plan still had to move forward steadily.

First, enter the Blood River Battlefield, then use the Magic Mirror to test the combat strength of the demons.

By expanding the influence of the Magic Mirror, making it key equipment in the Blood Battle, Amberser would have critical power to affect the battle when necessary.

Next, enter the Blood River Battlefield and find the true Nether River tributary.

This task was extremely difficult, requiring bypassing both Bayer and Zariel.

Legend had it that the Nether River connected countless universes, and Hell was merely one of its larger tributaries. Abyssal Demons continuously emerged in Hell through the Nether River, forming the Blood River Battlefield here.

But the Blood River currently visible was not the true Nether River; it was unclear whether it was buried deep underground or hidden in voids and other planes, thus requiring deeper investigation. Finding a way to sever the Nether River would be even better, solving the problem once and for all.

This task was incredibly challenging, certainly too much for Melina, so it needed Parurier to handle it.

"Infiltrating the Blood River Battlefield is quite a dangerous job," Parurier turned to Amberser, provokingly asking, "You don’t expect me to work for free, do you?"

"You agreed earlier to cooperate with me to end the Blood Battle. It’s not like you to start raising your price midway," Amberser said, puzzled.

Parurier arrogantly said, "I just flipped a coin and the Goddess of Fate winked at me, telling me to hike my price from the ground up."

Amberser mercilessly mocked, "Hah, the Goddess of Fate probably wouldn’t even bother to leave you eye crust."

The Goddess detested those who clingily squandered the power of fate. Any Diviner Mage who misused the power of fate would get kicked to death by Her, let alone someone like Parurier who shamelessly buttered up. The Goddess wouldn’t even spare a glance.

Yet Parurier acted as if she had Amberser wrapped around her finger and boastfully said, "The coin toss turned out this way, you can choose not to believe it, but then I can choose not to work."

Amberser really couldn’t deal with her and asked, "What price do you want to add?"

Parurier quickly said, "I want Harvey, give that kid to me! I’ve attended two classes, I feel like I’m already catching the hem of the Goddess of Fate’s skirt! If you give Harvey to me, I’ll help you."

Amberser firmly said, "Get lost, he is my student, not my merchandise."

"Ha, Arthas, what kind of gentleman are you pretending to be? He adores you and is willing to sacrifice his life for you. By the standards of demons, he is your possession; you can dispose of him at will, including his soul."

Parents can sell the souls of their young children; children can sell the souls of their elderly parents. These are the rules of demons, not calculated by mundane standards but by the simplest and most intrinsic value. If you can control it, it’s your asset, ready to be traded at any time.

Selling Harvey’s soul would be no challenge for Amberser, as long as he dared to sign the contract; Parurier could take Harvey’s soul away right now, according to the rules of demons.

Amberser sighed and said to Parurier, "Parurier, if you never learn to respect the fate of others, you will never understand what fate truly is. You always feel you can freely manipulate the threads of fate, but these threads will keep tightening. By the time you realize it, you’ll already be bound and it’ll be too late."

Parurier frowned and asked, "What does it mean to respect someone else’s fate?"

Amberser rolled his eyes and said, "Idiot, aren’t you a Succubus? Go seduce him yourself!"

Parurier looked shocked. Was respecting someone else’s fate meant to be like this? Fate is indeed profound!
