Chapter 440: Chapter 412 Still Pretending

The members of the Silent Night Pirate Group were not the sharpest tools in the shed. They were the purest kind of undead—those who would howl and pounce at the sight of living flesh and blood.

Although they might seem a bit foolish, they were ferociously tenacious in a brawl.

Amberser also realized that the Silent Night Pirate Group wasn’t just Aige and Phil the Legendary. There was also a Legendary Rank specter among them, who could sing a terrifying magical tune that caused those Sharkwa Fishmen and Yixi Manta Rays to bleed from every orifice.

Phil swung his trident in the forefront, cutting a swath through the enemy ranks, but his efficiency in slaughter was far outpaced by Miss Specter.

The dominance of the Silent Night Pirates on the high seas was no fluke, and Amberser realized he had underestimated them earlier.

The Silent Night Pirates held overwhelming numbers and individual strength over their foes, so the battle was nearing its conclusion. Whether they were Sharkwa Fishmen or Yixi Manta Rays, their corpses littered the sea, and their flesh and essence slowly seeped into the hulls of the ghost ships.

However, the other ghost ships only dared to feed on the corpses of the Sharkwa Fishmen, as all the Yixi Manta Rays were absorbed by Aige. It wasn’t that the captain was being domineering; rather, the blood of the Yixi Manta Rays was poisonous, and Aige was the only one who could withstand it.

But as she absorbed this poisoned blood, the complexion of her phantom-like form changed, with a faint blush tingeing her pale cheeks, making her appear more like a living person.

"Drunk?" Amberser asked with concern.

Aige shook her head, "I’m fine, I just need a bit of rest."

Amberser nodded, then said, "Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye out for you."

Such familiarity in his tone would have gotten anyone else thrown to the Specters by Aige—after all, the Silent Night Pirates needed no outsider to keep watch over them.

But since it was Amberser who said it, Aige took it for granted.

The aggregate intelligence of the pirate gang’s undead didn’t even begin to fill one of the Lich’s brain cavities. With Amberser offering his help, Aige felt even more at ease.

Aige’s human form slowly merged with the ghost ship, entering a brief dormant state.

Amberser summoned the undead of the pirate gang to search for someone. The battle had been chaotic and in the mess they had lost track of Aeolus—he had no idea where the lad had gone off to.

A group of undead searched the sea for quite a while, until they finally found Aeolus inside a broken, half-sunken ship.

Somehow the guy had managed to squeeze in there, and when Murloc Phil found him, Aeolus appeared to be asleep, snoring away.

Just as they were about to lift him and take him before Amberser, an invisible flow of water surged from the side, slicing half of Phil’s fingers off.

This gave Phil quite a fright, and he quickly retreated more than ten meters.

"What the hell is this?!"

Phil hastily ordered the others to stay far away, then quickly returned to Amberser’s side to report the situation.

Amberser was taken aback and asked, "Asleep? Wasn’t he just fighting?"

Phil shook his head, "I have no idea."

Amberser thought for a moment and made a guess.

That lad had seen Yixi Manta Rays before, could he have accidentally drunk a few mouthfuls of poisonous blood?

Amberser was half right: Aeolus hadn’t accidentally done anything. During the fight, he had impulsively eaten a couple of Yixi Manta Rays.

Then he felt the world spin, and without realizing it, he passed out—it was unclear if he sank by himself or if he was torn to shreds by the enemy, only to regenerate from a piece of flesh remaining in that location.

By the time Amberser reached the scene, a massive whirlpool had formed around Aeolus, sucking everything nearby into it. More astonishingly, anything that entered the whirlpool, be it rock or coral, would be ground to dust by the currents.

"This kid, he’s gotten this strong?"

Amberser could understand being fierce in battle, but maintaining protective enchantments even in sleep was truly a blessing of the Ocean Deities, wasn’t it?

"Master, how should we proceed?" Phil inquired.

It wasn’t about being unable to kill the kid, but Phil genuinely didn’t know how to safely extract him.

Amberser thought for a moment, then said, "I’ll help him sober up."

A blast of cold air emerged from his palm as Amberser repeatedly shot Ice Rays at Aeolus.

Icicles formed and were then pulverized by the whirlpool, only to be replaced by more new icicles. Under the continuous assault from Amberser, the once rapidly spinning vortex eventually turned into a clump of ice, unable to spin any longer.

The massive chunk of ice should have risen, but Amberser summoned several Mage Hands to press it down onto Aeolus’s head.

Maybe the cold woke him, or perhaps it was the impact with the ice, but Aeolus finally stopped snoring and opened his eyes.

However, he looked bleary-eyed and upon waking, let out a belch, exhaling a puff of black air.

"He really did drink the blood of a Yixi Manta Ray. How much did he consume?!"

Amberser was about to greet Aeolus when he heard the lad roar loudly, "Who let all this foul fish and rotten shrimp disturb my sleep? Hic~"

Aeolus squinted his eyes, and without looking to see who was coming, he grabbed with both hands, coalescing dozens of water streams to smash the big chunk of ice.

But before Amberser could speak again, these streams of water were already burrowing their way towards them.

Fortunately, the Lich didn’t rely on sight but on perception; the invisible water flows in the sea couldn’t be seen at all and could only be discerned through sensing their movement.

Seeing that Phil was about to raise his trident, Amberser sighed. Aige was resting, and today, saving money was not an option.

The Golden Throne appeared behind Amberser, and with a point of his finger, ripples spread through the sea.

Where the ripples reached, time seemed to stop, and the rock-shattering streams of water were frozen in place, and when the ripples landed on Aeolus, his whole body stiffened, leaving only his head able to move.

Ninth Circle Spell—Time Freeze.

With Amberser’s abilities, he couldn’t have used this move on his own, after all, everyone has their specialties, and as a Lich, at best he could only cast Death’s Touch; the other Ninth Circle Spells were beyond his reach.

Only with the power of the Golden Throne could he freely use Ninth Circle Spells, making Amberser the most versatile Mage.

But this Time Freeze had cost him several hundred thousand Gold Coins, not much less than buying a Time Freeze Scroll.

Muttering "Lost a fortune, lost a fortune," Amberser swam over to Aeolus, who could only move his head, and asked, "Old friend, do you still recognize me?"

Aeolus, who was struggling, stopped when he saw Amberser clearly and said in surprise, "It’s you! How... How did you end up with these Murlocs? *Burp* I was just passing by when the Murlocs started attacking me!"

Amberser was speechless. The Sharkwa Fishman was the most aggressive Murloc race. If you passed through their territory, of course, they would treat you as an invader or prey.

"It’s all a misunderstanding. I’ve already taken care of all the Sharkwa Fishman that hurt you."

Amberser snapped his fingers, lifting the Time Freeze effect ahead of time.

Aeolus regained his freedom and seemed to have regained his senses, saying sheepishly, "I’ve caused you trouble again, friend."

Amberser asked, "Weren’t you going to find your wife? How did you end up on Sharkwa Fishman territory?"

Aeolus replied helplessly, "I don’t know where Airel is, I could only ask for directions, but everyone I met just attacked without speaking."

This... could be because Aeolus was too ugly, perhaps.

His face covered in lightning-shaped scars was indeed somewhat frightening, hardly any better than Phil, who had become an Undead.

Amberser said to Aeolus, "Forget about it, since you don’t recognize the way, you might as well travel with me for a while, who knows, you might come across Airel on the road."

Aeolus responded, "Makes sense. Thank you."

Amberser laughed hehe and said, "No need to be polite, friends should help each other."

He decided to grab hold of Aeolus, to stop him from wreaking havoc in the Fury Tide Kingdom and ruining his plans, and incidentally, to extract information about the Deity from him—it was a win-win.

Amberser, with Aeolus in tow, was ready to board Aige’s ship, but unexpectedly, Phil pulled both Amberser and Aeolus onto his own vessel, reminding, "Master Ultraman, the captain’s ship is not just for anyone. Until the captain wakes, it’s better for you to sit here."

No one in the Silent Night Pirate Group was qualified to step onto Aige’s deck, only members of the Elegy Poetry Society were entitled to that privilege.

Aeolus, this guy, didn’t care about these things, still drunk, he passed out as soon as he boarded the ship.

As a result, a few minutes later, Aige woke up, the Silent Night Pirates set sail again, and Aeolus was still asleep on Phil’s ship.

With no other choice, Amberser had to stay, fearing that Aeolus might dismantle Phil’s Ghost Ship in his sleep, so he stayed by his side.

In the end, the wait dragged on for eight or nine hours, with the Silent Night Pirates almost leaving Sharkwa Fishman’s territory before Aeolus finally woke up, rubbing the center of his forehead.

The intense headache, like a hangover, made Aeolus’s already ugly face even more ghastly.

Fortunately, the ship was full of Undead, who had no business mocking the guy.

Aeolus mournfully said, "My head hurts so much, those fish are poisonous."

"So you just found out now? You live in the sea, yet you act like a newborn baby; didn’t you know the Yixi Manta Rays are poisonous?"

Aeolus shook his head and said, "I didn’t know, nobody told me."

All he was imbued with were some basic knowledge, language, fundamental logic, and the vague concept that creatures in the sea are called fish, and those on land are called beasts. As for specific characteristics of different fish, Talos didn’t bother to instill that information bit by bit.

Amberser patted Aeolus on the shoulder and said, "No worries, take it slow, I can teach you. But before that, I want to ask, which of the Ocean Deities sent you, what mission do you carry?"

Aeolus quickly replied, "I am... no, I wasn’t sent by a Deity. I only worship my Lord of the Storm, Talos. My mission is to marry Airel. This isn’t a task given by a Deity, it’s something I want to do for myself."

Amberser: ...

This guy was still pretending, even now.
