This Lich Requests More Remuneration
Chapter 441 - 413: You are the Chosen of the Goddess of Madness, aren’t you?

Chapter 441: Chapter 413: You are the Chosen of the Goddess of Madness, aren’t you?

Amberser swore on all the lies he had told in this lifetime that this kid was definitely lying, there must be someone ordering him to marry Airel.

Otherwise, how could he be shouting about wanting to marry Airel when he didn’t even recognize her? The logic just didn’t make sense.

Aeolus was still slinging mud at Talos up to now. Would Talos need such a roundabout method if he wanted Airel to get married? The tactic of the deity behind this was too simple and crude, and slinging mud like this was particularly despicable.

But Amberser didn’t immediately expose Aeolus’s lie, to avoid provoking the kid to anger.

"Fine, everyone has their own secrets, I won’t pry further,"

Upon hearing Amberser’s words, Aeolus expressed his immense gratitude, "Thank you, there are some things I really can’t disclose!"

Amberser felt like rolling his eyes, but he didn’t have eyeballs. This was practically a self-confession; he admitted to lying just now.

Which deity could be so unreliable to choose an even more unreliable follower?

This seemed like something the Koutao Mermaid Goddess Brivodoup would do. It was rumored that this goddess did not originally exist and was conjured up by the imagination of a large number of Koutou Murlocs. As a result, Brivodoup also took on Koutou Murloc’s unreliable "I reckon" trait, acting wildly and illogically.

This was not Amberser slandering the Koutao Mermaid Goddess; her deity position included the attribute of "mental confusion."

So calling her the mentally ill goddess wasn’t an exaggeration.

Brivodoup had once claimed to be an ancient deity, the god of all races buried at the bottom of the sea, in charge of ancient magical knowledge unknown even to the Magic Goddess.

But she had only made such claims publicly, never revealing any details or sharing this ancient magic knowledge with anyone, so it was generally assumed she was being delusional, bragging nonsense.

This fitted Aeolus’s state perfectly: foolish and mad, spewing lies without a second thought, yet full of loopholes.

But even as a "madwoman," Brivodoup was still a goddess with intermediate divine power, more potent than Amberser’s teacher at his peak. It wouldn’t be difficult for her to create a Chosen of God with powerful water control abilities.

So it seemed quite likely that Aeolus was a Chosen of God by the Koutao Mermaid Goddess Brivodoup.

This mentally ill goddess was looking to cause trouble for Talos?

How could Brivodoup dare? There was a huge gap between intermediate divine power and great divine power; Talos could strike her with lightning that would fry her inside and out.

Oh right, she’s insane. Well, that made sense.

Anything a madman does is rational. Amberser felt he had perfectly explained everything, and said to Aeolus, "Since you’re looking for Airel, let’s just ask around on our way."

Aeolus, overjoyed, said, "Really? That’s great, I never expected to receive your help time and again. I really don’t know how I can repay you."

Amberser replied with a smile, "There will be a chance, we can talk about it later."

Amberser sent Phil a soul connection, and Phil tactfully excused himself.

From this moment on, the Silent Night Pirate Gang had one unified thought — Airel? Who’s that, don’t know her.

First, they needed to trap this fool on the ship.

Aeolus did not suspect Amberser of having any ulterior motives and instead eagerly explored the Ghost Ship, as if he had never seen such a novel thing before.

Amberser also took the opportunity to probe the extent of Aeolus’s abilities. Earlier, he said that as long as the sea waves were undying, so was he, and it turns out, it wasn’t a bluff. As long as there were waves churning in the ocean, he could infinitely resurrect.

This ability was more cheat-like than Katherine’s invincibility under the moonlight.

But divine blessings have always been this puzzling; the limit of mortals was but a touch of deities’ baseline.

The blessings of deities often generated "rule"-like effects in the Prime Material Plane, granting immunity to whatever you’re supposed to be immune to.

As long as moonlight shone upon Katherine, even the full force of a Silvermoon Knight’s sword couldn’t harm her, not even leaving a white mark.

Amberser too was enjoying the conveniences brought about by these rules. The coin that could transform properties was actually a rule-modifying ability as well.

This was the power of deities, the true might.

To counteract such power, only the divine power of deities would suffice.

Only if a certain Deity had interfered, stripping Aeolus of his infinite rebirth or adding a restriction causing a flaw in the effect of his rebirth.

Anyway, before being targeted by a Deity, this kid was genuinely unkillable. Even if Amberser crushed his soul, he could still be reborn somewhere in the great sea.

Aeolus was a trouble, but if used wisely, he could be a divine weapon.

Amberser treated it like taking a child on a trip, chatting and boasting with Aeolus all the way, and their relationship indeed grew deeper. By this time, the Silent Night Pirate Group had already crossed the territory of the Sharkwa Fishmen and was not far from the domain of the Mermaid Goddess.

Aige came to Amberser to discuss the upcoming arrangements.

"We’re going to seek an audience with Yizhuoluo to discuss borrowing faith. Personally, I suggest we shouldn’t approach with an army. Yizhuoluo is an absolutely neutral Deity who won’t attack us proactively. The Yixi Manta Rays we’ve slain along the way can be offered as gifts, which should be enough to be received by the mermaids," Aige said.

This was Amberser’s suggestion. The absolutely neutral Deity Yizhuoluo had only one enemy, and that was Dimogorgen, so the Yixi Manta Rays were mortal enemies to the mermaids.

Though the mermaids were skilled in water magic, who in this vast sea wasn’t capable of some water magic tricks? The Yixi Manta Rays were poisonous, and these creatures weren’t lacking in intelligence—they often cut themselves deliberately, using ocean currents to send their poisonous blood into the mermaids’ underwater coral reefs.

This method of poisoning was truly hard to defend against. Hence, the mermaids loathed the Yixi Manta Rays, and Amberser had long since collected a heap of their corpses along the way. The sincerity of such an offering was indeed substantial.

Aige agreed with Amberser’s suggestion as well since they were there to seek cooperation, not to plunder. Negotiation was the best option.

Plus, Aige alone was more than enough, given her ability to phase and move through objects, which ensured free movement. Bringing more people would only be a burden.

Once the plan was confirmed, Amberser had Aeolus stay on Phil’s ship, and the entire Silent Night Pirate Group remained on the outskirts of mermaid territory, not entering without orders.

Then, Aige took Amberser to the nearest Murloc tribe.

The followers of the Goddess Yizhuoluo included mermaids and Roca Murlocs, among which the mermaids were smarter. Thus, each tribe was led by mermaids, with the Roca Murlocs somewhat giving off a mermaid vibe.

No sooner had Aige’s enormous Ghost Ship appeared than it attracted the attention of some Roca Murlocs.

These round-headed Murlocs looked rather naive, lacking the Sharkwa’s sharp teeth, seeming more benign, but their weapons were just as sharp. They pointed them at Amberser at the helm and loudly demanded,

"This place is under the watchful care of the Dreamers of the Sea. Undead, begone! Undead, begone!"

To most living beings, the Undead weren’t associated with anything good. Although Yizhuoluo was absolutely neutral and did not discriminate against the Undead, the Roca Murlocs were not so generous. They wouldn’t necessarily start conflict, but they were certainly wary.

Luckily, Amberser was prepared. He took out several corpses of Yixi Manta Rays, threw them over, and said to the Murlocs, "On behalf of the Silent Night Pirate Group, I seek an audience with your tribe’s Grand Priest."

There was no unified kingdom among the marine tribes; they were primarily tribal by nature. And since only those blessed by a Deity could thrive, their administrative system was quite straightforward, summed up as "the Deity has the final say."

Therefore, priests who could communicate with a Deity were equivalent to the tribe chiefs, and no one could dispute their power.

Amberser’s plan was to first find the Mermaid High Priestess who could communicate with Yizhuoluo, then talk through the High Priestess to Yizhuoluo.

The matter of Aeolus could be an icebreaker. Amberser believed Yizhuoluo would be very interested in the plans of the Koutao Mermaid Goddess. This deranged Goddess was targeting Talos, which, to the absolutely neutral Yizhuoluo, was suicidal and would throw the seas into disarray.

The plan was perfect. The offering of Yixi Manta Rays pleased the Roca Murlocs, who took the bodies and dived into the colossal coral reef, which seemed endless. Soon after, they brought forth a tall mermaid warrior.

The appearance of the mermaids was much more appealing than that of the Murlocs, with a humanoid upper body lined with well-defined muscles. After all, spending every day swimming in the sea, it’d be strange not to have any muscles.

This was a male mermaid, holding a trident wrapped in fresh seaweed. He was quite handsome, fitting the brooding type that could easily deceive young girls in fairy tales.

"Respected guests, my name is Nepreis, I am the priest of the Blue Algae Tribe. May I ask your purpose here?"

Though Nepreis spoke politely, his hand never left the trident. While he appeared alongside a dozen more Roca Murlocs, they hadn’t fully surrounded Amberser, but there was still a noticeable caution in their stance.

But no big problem. Amberser said courteously, "Ms. Aige, the leader of the Silent Night Pirate Group, wishes to meet the Mermaid High Priestess. We have brought very important information related to the Gill-Swimmer Goddess."

Upon hearing this, Nepreis replied opportunistically, "Oh, what information might that be? I am well-acquainted with the High Priestess, so just leave the message to me to pass on."

Amberser chuckled and said, "Nepreis, your words are too carefree. We are Undead who have traveled a great distance to bring news, it’s not like we can just say it and leave. We’re Undead, not Paladins out for good deeds."

Hearing this, Nepreis let out a sigh of relief. The name of the Silent Night Pirate Group was too notorious, and Nepreis knew full well he was no match for them, nor could his tribe withstand the Silent Night Pirate Group.

If this Lich said he was just delivering a message, Nepreis wouldn’t believe it. But the fact that Amberser implied wanting to deliver the message in exchange for a favor made it much more believable.
