Luo Xusheng arrived at Ling Ruonan’s villa at around one o’clock in the middle of the night.

When Luo Xusheng came, Luo Ziling had already been asleep for two hours.

Awoken by the noise, he came out of his room and, upon seeing it was Luo Xusheng who had entered, hurried down to greet him.

"Dad, you’re here," Luo Ziling said as he took a closer look at Luo Xusheng’s appearance and appeared quite surprised. "Dad, could it be you acted heroically and fought some thugs on the way?"

Luo Xusheng’s clothes were dirty and had some tears, his hair was a bit messy—he clearly looked like someone who had been in a fight.

Luo Ziling knew very well what was going on but still put on an expression of great surprise.

"I was ambushed on the way," Luo Xusheng replied flatly. "It was quite a skilled opponent."

"Surely, they were no match for you."

Clearly unwilling to discuss the ambush further, Luo Xusheng shifted the topic to Ling Ruonan’s condition.

Upon hearing Luo Ziling say that Ling Ruonan was not seriously injured, just suffered minor wounds and a fright, Luo Xusheng let out a sigh of relief.

Before Luo Xusheng could ask anything else, Luo Ziling recounted the events that followed, including the visit from Li Jiawei and her daughter, and Ling Mingrui and his wife.

After hearing all this, Luo Xusheng stayed silent for a while before saying, "Looks like I’ll need to make the ambush I faced tonight well-known."

"Leave that to Wang Zhenjun," Luo Ziling said, then instructed Wuyue to call Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun inside.

Soon, Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun entered the living room.

When they saw Luo Xusheng standing there, both of them showed excited expressions.

But Luo Xusheng didn’t bother with pleasantries. Instead, he briefly recounted the ambush he had faced on the way to Ling Ruonan’s villa. Hearing that Luo Xusheng had been attacked by a highly skilled opponent and nearly lost his life, they were both greatly shocked.

Understanding Luo Xusheng’s intention to spread awareness of the incident, Wang Zhenjun nodded immediately.

Luo Xusheng didn’t give Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun many other instructions. He just gave them a few words of caution, reminding them to be extra vigilant in ensuring Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling’s safety. After that, he dismissed them to handle their respective tasks.

"Since your mother is fine, I’ll head out now," Luo Xusheng said, preparing to leave. "I’ll find a place to stay and take the earliest flight back to Jinling tomorrow."

"Dad, you traveled so far to see my mom, and now you’re leaving without even meeting with her? That’s way too cold-hearted," Luo Ziling said in surprise. "You should at least meet her face to face. Otherwise, she’ll be upset too."

After hesitating a moment, Luo Xusheng finally agreed to meet with Ling Ruonan before leaving.

The villa had guest rooms, and Luo Ziling asked whether Luo Xusheng wanted to stay in a guest room or Ling Ruonan’s bedroom. Without any consideration, Luo Xusheng chose the guest room.

Initially, Luo Ziling wanted to chat more with Luo Xusheng, but upon noticing his lack of interest in chatting, Luo Ziling had to give up.

Early the next morning, Luo Ziling woke up.

He was startled awake by sounds from outside—it seemed Luo Xusheng had already gotten up.

Walking out of his room in pajamas, Luo Ziling saw Luo Xusheng, fully dressed, standing outside Ling Ruonan’s door with a hesitant look.

"I’ll go wake my mom," Luo Ziling said softly and, without waiting for a response, pushed the door open and entered Ling Ruonan’s room.

Ling Ruonan was still soundly asleep, and it wasn’t until Luo Ziling tapped two of her acupuncture points that she slowly woke up.

"Mom, Dad is here. He arrived at midnight last night, and he’s planning to leave early this morning."

Ling Ruonan, initially looking puzzled, jolted awake upon hearing this.

"Where is your father? Where is he now?" she asked, sitting up abruptly.

"He’s outside the door; too embarrassed to come in!" Luo Ziling replied with a smile.

Without hesitation, Ling Ruonan got out of bed, wearing her pajamas, and walked briskly to the door.

"Why didn’t you come in?" Ling Ruonan asked, biting her lip as she looked at Luo Xusheng.

"I didn’t want to wake you," Luo Xusheng said awkwardly, giving Ling Ruonan a sheepish smile. "When I heard about your car accident and injuries yesterday, I rushed over right away. Luckily, it was just minor injuries—and Ling’er is here."

"You two can chat inside. I’ll go prepare breakfast," Luo Ziling said, knowing it would be unwise and cruel to remain as a third wheel. He quickly exited the room and headed downstairs. "You can talk for a while, but remember to come down to eat breakfast."

After Luo Ziling left, Ling Ruonan, her face slightly flushed, tilted her head and looked at the awkward Luo Xusheng. "Are we going to stand here and keep talking?"

Before Luo Xusheng could respond, Ling Ruonan grabbed his hand and pulled him directly into the room.

Downstairs, Luo Ziling washed his face quickly at the kitchen sink and slowly started preparing breakfast.

Before he could finish cooking the noodles, Luo Xusheng and Ling Ruonan came downstairs together.

Seeing Ling Ruonan’s expression, Luo Ziling sighed inwardly.

The two really had only talked and done nothing intimate, leaving Luo Ziling feeling a bit regretful for them.

Without wasting any more time, Luo Ziling quickly finished cooking the noodles, filled three bowls, and even helped carry the bowls to the table for Ling Ruonan and Luo Xusheng.

"Mom, you look so much better than yesterday," Luo Ziling said with a smile to Ling Ruonan. "You slept well last night. I’ll give you another massage tonight to help you sleep better."

"Your dad is leaving soon," Ling Ruonan said, her mood slightly downcast. "Will you see him off?"

"Dad, do you want me to go with you to the airport?"

"Let Yang Xiaodong drive me instead. You stay home and keep your mom company. I’ll come back in a few days," Luo Xusheng replied, shaking his head.

Luo Ziling didn’t push further.

Unlike his usual silence, Luo Xusheng proactively asked Luo Ziling, "What’s your plan for dealing with this matter?"

"What they’ve done is so outrageous. If we don’t fight back, worse things will keep happening in the future," Luo Ziling said seriously. "So, I need to make sure they never dare to mess with us again."

Luo Xusheng was quiet for a long time before softly saying, "Don’t cause trouble for yourself. For tasks that might be inconvenient, leave them to your close allies. Try not to take action yourself. Besides, make sure your mom doesn’t get implicated, understand?"

"I’ll be fine," Ling Ruonan said while eating noodles. She shook her head lightly. "I’ll communicate with Ling’er and try not to make any mistakes."

"I’ll figure out a way to return to Yanjing soon. Once I’m back, I won’t let them push you two around." At this point, a flash of cold, murderous intent appeared in Luo Xusheng’s eyes. "No matter who it is, if they dare to bully you, I won’t let them off."

The expression in Luo Xusheng’s eyes made Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling both shudder.
