Chapter 1515: Chapter 1515: Unexpected Situation
Luo Xusheng left right after breakfast.
This time, he only came to check on Ling Ruonan’s condition and didn’t plan to intervene personally.
The situation hadn’t reached the point where he needed to act personally—at least, that’s what he felt. Therefore, after confirming Ling Ruonan was fine, he decided to return home since he had official responsibilities and couldn’t be too capricious.
Yang Xiaodong drove him to the airport.
Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan accompanied Luo Xusheng to the car.
It wasn’t until they watched Luo Xusheng’s car leave that they headed back home together.
Ling Ruonan originally wanted Luo Ziling to personally accompany Luo Xusheng, but Luo Xusheng refused, so she didn’t insist.
"Did you have people intercept your dad last night?" Ling Ruonan quietly asked as they walked back to the living room.
Luo Ziling gave a bitter smile. "Did my dad tell you that?"
Ling Ruonan nodded lightly.
After hesitating for a moment, Luo Ziling finally responded, "Lin Lan did it."
"Aren’t you afraid they’ll suspect you?"
Luo Ziling shook his head. "No. Now that things have reached this stage, the messier, the better!"
"Did you ask Lin Lan to do anything else?"
"No, just this," Luo Ziling didn’t want to reveal anything more to Ling Ruonan.
Ling Ruonan studied Luo Ziling’s face for a moment but ultimately chose not to ask further.
Shortly afterward, Luo Yuqing arrived.
Today, she got up very early—after her morning exercise, she went to the market to buy groceries.
It was her first time shopping at the market alone, and Luo Yuqing made quite a few mistakes, but in the end, she managed to bring back the needed food.
Seeing Luo Yuqing and Lin Lan carrying several large bags into the house, Luo Ziling hurried forward to take them. After opening the bags and taking a look, he stared at Luo Yuqing speechlessly.
"What’s wrong?" Luo Yuqing frowned and glared at Luo Ziling. "Did I buy the wrong food?"
"How many people are you planning to feed? Why would you buy so much?" Luo Ziling lifted one of the bags. "There must be about five pounds of shrimp here. Are you trying to get protein poisoning? And this beef—there’s so much! Are you planning to eat steak every day?"
Seeing Luo Yuqing’s expression beginning to sour, Luo Ziling quickly swallowed the rest of his words and smiled. "But having more ingredients is a good thing—we can eat more or prepare for unexpected guests. These shrimp look great—they’re fresh and alive. The beef is fresh too, and the vegetables are fine as well."
Luo Yuqing’s indignation turned to delight. "Hmph, this is my first time shopping for groceries at the market on my own. If this earns me complaints from you, I’ll beat you up."
"Don’t be so violent, okay?" Luo Ziling complained with a grimace. "Living around you makes me question my survival chances."
"Where’s your mom?" Luo Yuqing decided to stop bickering with Luo Ziling and handed him the groceries before heading off to find Ling Ruonan.
"She’s upstairs taking a bath."
Just then, Yang Qingyin arrived.
Luo Yuqing wasn’t surprised. She greeted her with a smile, "You’re finally here. I thought your dad locked you up at home!"
"How could that happen? I have to go to class," Yang Qingyin smiled and then asked Luo Ziling, "Where’s your mom?"
"She’s taking a bath. Sit for a bit. Have you had breakfast yet?"
"I’ve eaten," Luo Yuqing answered. "Don’t tell me you haven’t eaten yet?"
"I haven’t," Yang Qingyin said pitifully, "I left home very early and didn’t have time for breakfast."
"I’ll make you something. What do you want? Noodles?"
"Who are you cooking noodles for? You’re so wicked!" Luo Yuqing gave Luo Ziling a glaring look.
Luo Ziling was speechless.
Ignoring Luo Yuqing, he went off to the kitchen alone to prepare breakfast for Yang Qingyin.
"Why are you always clashing with Ziling?" Yang Qingyin quietly asked Luo Yuqing once Luo Ziling was gone. "Do you have a problem with him?"
"How could I?" Luo Yuqing laughed. "I’ve never had anyone to act cute with or be playful around. Now that I finally have a younger brother to tease, wouldn’t it be a shame not to take the chance? Don’t you think I’d be letting myself down if I didn’t mess with him every now and then?"
Yang Qingyin looked at Luo Yuqing speechlessly, struggling to comprehend her reasoning.
Luo Yuqing continued, "It’s actually fun to have someone around for banter every day. Doesn’t it make life more joyous? I don’t have any real issues with Ziling—I just enjoy bickering with him, poking at each other. Watching him get exasperated and speechless makes me happy. He teases me a lot too, and even though I sometimes get mad, I actually enjoy it. Maybe that’s what I see as genuine closeness between siblings. I hope our relationship stays casual and straightforward like this. I really like this dynamic."
"Alright, I get what you mean," Yang Qingyin chuckled, then quietly asked Luo Yuqing, "Mrs. Ling doesn’t mind you teasing him, does she?"
"I hope to gradually improve my relationship with Mrs. Ling. I know she was quite dismissive of me at first—she probably still feels that way—but I’ll work hard to change her views. I don’t want them to underestimate me." Luo Yuqing said as she grabbed Yang Qingyin’s hand. "Mrs. Ling treats Ouyang Feifei better than you. Let’s agree to support each other, alright?"
Yang Qingyin didn’t say much, merely squeezing Luo Yuqing’s hand lightly.
Shortly afterward, Luo Ziling emerged from the kitchen with a bowl of noodles and invited Yang Qingyin to have breakfast.
Yang Qingyin didn’t hesitate and sat down at the dining table to eat.
"What about my breakfast?" Luo Yuqing asked indignantly. "You didn’t make anything for me?"
"Didn’t you say you already ate?" Luo Ziling replied, dumbfounded.
"Just because I’ve eaten doesn’t mean I can’t eat more, does it?"
"Aren’t you afraid of gaining weight?"
"What does my weight have to do with you? You’re not going to marry me anyway, so why does it matter?"
Luo Ziling looked at Luo Yuqing with a bitter smile. "There’s still some noodle broth left. How about just drinking the soup?"
This earned him a kick under the table from Yang Qingyin.
Just as Yang Qingyin finished her breakfast, Ling Ruonan came downstairs.
Seeing Ling Ruonan, Yang Qingyin and Luo Yuqing quickly went over to greet her.
"You’re here so early," Ling Ruonan said while descending the stairs in her comfortable home attire after freshening up. She smiled at Luo Yuqing and Yang Qingyin. "Don’t you have class today?"
"It’s fine, we took the day off," Luo Yuqing replied cheerfully. "It’s only the beginning of the semester, and the coursework isn’t heavy yet. Plus, our grades are always excellent—it won’t matter even if we skip class. By the way, Mrs. Ling, are you feeling better today?"
"Mrs. Ling, I heard from my mom that you got injured yesterday. I wanted to come by last night to check on you, but I was late, so I didn’t want to disturb you," Yang Qingyin said apologetically while stepping forward. "That’s why I came early this morning instead."
"It’s alright," Ling Ruonan said with a smile, inviting Luo Yuqing and Yang Qingyin to sit on the sofa.
Luo Yuqing and Yang Qingyin sat down beside Ling Ruonan, engaging in casual chit-chat.
Luo Ziling stayed nearby, serving tea, fetching water, and peeling fruit for them.
While the four of them were enjoying their pleasant conversation, Wuyue came into the room.
Noticing Wuyue’s peculiar expression, Luo Ziling quickly approached her. "What’s the matter?"
"Young Master, we just received a report. This morning, while on his way to work, Ling Haining encountered a group of people staging a fake accident. When he got out of his car to argue with them, they hit him. During the confrontation, a bus failed to brake properly and crashed into the scene. Ling Haining suffered serious injuries, while two of the scammers were killed on the spot."
Upon hearing Wuyue’s report, Luo Ziling was stunned speechless.
