Chapter 389: Chapter 240: Summoning Thunder Snake, First Confrontation with Black Friday Number 5!_1

The next moment, the Voodoo Zombie charged towards Ivita with irresistible force, like a runaway train.

Ivita noticed some deformity in the opponent’s foot. While running at speed, his ankle underneath his trouser leg was revealed, showing a foot that had traits of a crab and an octopus.

Ivita had planned to grab the opponent with the Hand of Mana when he was within reach, then summon the Thunder Snake with the Lightning Curse to quickly kill him and take his gold.

But who could have predicted that the Voodoo Zombie would suddenly draw a black revolver from behind with his left hand, pointing it at the startled Ivita and Vampire Wilson. The gun was a flintlock revolver.

’Bang~’

’Bang~’

Two gunshots rang out.

One bullet struck Wilson in the forehead, knocking him to the ground mid-charge. The bullet in his forehead emitted a strong resentment.

A weapon capable of felling a fourth-generation Vampire with a single shot was no ordinary item.

At the same time, another bullet shot towards Ivita’s forehead.

Ivita thought that the Voodoo Zombie would engage in close combat, but to her surprise, he simply raised his gun and shot at her.

Indeed, having spent all her time in Ambros, she had not expected to encounter guns one day.

The Destroy Magic cloak Ivita had worn instantly rose at the corner like a dancer’s spinning dress, deflecting the bullet.

At the same time, a black jade-like sphere appeared around the Destroy Magic cloak - a Sphere of Destruction Magic.

With every shot from the Voodoo Zombie, a ghostly image of a hanged pirate appeared behind him, with the bullets harboring a powerful resentment.

The phantom would shout at every shot the zombie took: "I repent, I regret becoming a pirate!"

Vampire Wilson had lived for a long time and had seen much. After getting up from the ground and pushing the bullet out of his head, he said to Ivita: "Sir, please be careful. That is a special item under the Seven Seas Law Code - a Pirate Ship Component. These items, born from the Law, are said to randomly appear in the seas around Cross Island and are not shown on nautical charts. They can be used as personal weapons and also as ship parts."

"There are five types of these items in total, and only the legendary pirate ships will have all five types of components. Ordinary pirates will have components from one to four."

"The revolver in his hand should be a type two component. There are plenty of these on the Black Friday."

The revolver had six bullets in total, the Voodoo Zombie fired all five of them at Ivita. Each bullet left a mark on the Destroy Magic cloak, causing a spark.

The Voodoo Zombie took the opportunity to reach Ivita. His sword thrust forward like a snake towards Ivita’s chest.

In an instant, Ivita felt a massive pressure on her chest, as if a train had hit her. Ivita kept backing away, thankfully her Destroy Magic cloak prevented the opponent’s attack from penetrating her defences.

Even so, she was thrown into disarray by the opponent’s attack, feeling dizzy and disoriented.

The Sphere of Destruction Magic, that twirled around the spinning Destroy Magic cloak, hit the opponent. The Voodoo Zombie’s chest was injured by the Sphere of Destruction Magic, turning into a bloody mess. However, this fearless zombie seemed undeterred, still staring at the gold in Ivita’s left hand as he continued to attack her.

He wanted to breach the Destroy Magic cloak’s defense and kill Ivita.

The Voodoo Zombie reached out to grab the bag full of gold.

In that instant, lightning swirled around Ivita’s right hand. A thunderbolt from the sky transformed into a Lightning Javelin in her hand.

Ivita pointed, and the javelin automatically hit the zombie, sending him flying. He crashed into a wall on the other side of the street.

Ivita stood up, her eyes full of rage, declaring, "Let’s keep things simple. You die, then I leave."

Just as the Voodoo Zombie was about to rise from the wall, a Thunder Snake suddenly flew out from Ivita’s right eye. The snake pierced through the zombie’s body, destroying his flesh. The snake then returned to the Lightning Pool in Ivita’s right eye.

Ivita had summoned the Thunder Snake with the Lightning Curse.

The Voodoo Zombie fell to his knees, his body charred black. Through the zombie’s mouth, the puppeteer behind him said, "I see. This is the essence behind your Thunder Magic, an exorcising Thunder Snake."

"Return the gold bag to me. In exchange, I will only blind your right eye and you can live."

"This is my benevolence."

Ivita looked at him coldly. "You want this bag of gold? Go ask the person in charge of the port. Talking to me is useless."

The Voodoo Zombie was furious. "Boy, you! Do you know who you are talking to?"

"I am a fearsome crew member of the Black Friday!"

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll turn you into a zombie afterward?"

Ivita asked him in return, "Oh, do you know who I am?"

The Voodoo Zombie fell silent.

The man controlling the zombie from behind him seemed to be deliberating about who Ivita was. He spoke, hesitant even to himself, "You couldn’t be a famous figure. You are merely a speck of dust on the great sea. You are nobody important. There’s no chance I could know who you are."

"I don’t know you."

Ivita laughed, "If you don’t even know who I am, why bother chasing me across the sea? I have nothing to fear!"

"In the vast ocean, we lose sight of each other! Go negotiate with the governor at this port by yourself."

Ivita lifted his right hand and the terrifying thunder magic turned into a beam of light, cremating the zombie into charred ashes.

The man controlling the Voodoo Zombie was furious. He attempted to charge forward with his zombie, but within the beam of light, the phantom of a thunder snake spiraled upwards. Following that, the Voodoo Zombie morphed into a mere piece of charred coal.

Looking at the vampire, Ivita declared, "We need to leave this place immediately, the opposition will relentlessly send more forces."

Both of them quickly ducked into the streets, found a small alley, and made Wilson use mental coercion on a merchant to guide them to the Governor’s Mansion at the port.

Meanwhile, back at the spot where the Voodoo Zombie was burnt to ashes, within less than ten minutes, ten knight-level zombies arrived.

Each of them was entwined with terrifying resentment, clearly indicating that they carried quite a few high-grade pirate ship components.

The voodoo zombies, upon seeing the place empty, bellowed in anger towards the sky.

The howl of the Voodoo Zombie sent a spree of panic among the nearby sailors trying to escape, as if they had heard the cries of demons.

About two minutes later, the ten Voodoo Zombies swiftly dispersed, in search of the sack of gold taken from them.

...

Within a cabin at the rear of the Black Friday, the shipmaster responsible for controlling the zombies was a high ranking wizard, a male witch.

A muscular man in a cabin hung with ropes labeled with names - each rope represented a zombie.

He used these sorcery ropes to control the zombies.

At this moment, the male witch, Hank Han, smashed his fist on the table, causing the four table legs to snap instantly.

He roared in rage. "Damn critter, playing me like that, once I get my hands on you, I’ll turn you into my controlled zombie."

Almost instantly, he began regretting, holding his forehead, he said, "Had I known, I would’ve agreed to that kid’s demands. Take the gold and bail, instead, I complicated things."

"I can’t let the captain find out."

...

On the other side, Ivita and Wilson finally arrived at the Governor’s Mansion. As they drew closer, they could hear the arguing voices from within the mansion.

"The troops in the port aren’t enough now. We need reinforcements. We need to gather the army and prioritize protection to the Governor’s Mansion and the wealthy district."

"So we just watch as they slaughter everyone in the port? What about the reputation of the Republic of Belisarius!"

"We do not have enough soldiers. We have no idea what madness overcame the pirates to suddenly attack our port. We have no methods left. Do you think I want to abandon the civilians and just protect only us and the wealthy? After this event, I will definitely be dismissed, my life is over. Do you think I desire that? We cannot let anything happen to the businessmen in the rich area who hold a vast amount of business resources, else it will cause greater losses to the Republic."

The Governor hysterically said to his subordinates, "Seventy percent of the tax revenue of this port is coming from the wealthy people in the rich district, it’s normal that we prioritize protecting them. There are several businessmen who have monopolized the timber trade in the western Mediterranean. They’re big monopolies and absolutely cannot be compromised."

A military officer whispered, "Why hasn’t the Appendage Law of the Turin Law, the Differential Demon, been activated yet? If they had initiated it, the situation will be much better. At least we would be protecting a small portion of the civilians."

Just outside the mansion, Ivita stopped abruptly.

So, the Republic of Belisarius does not oppose monopolies.

The country sure reveres free trade.

But what’s a Differential Demon?

The troops at the entrance of the Governor’s Mansion stopped Ivita and Wilson. They glared threateningly at them. "Who are you guys, are you pirates?"

All of them had their weapons drawn. At this moment, anyone approaching the Governor’s Mansion would be under strong suspicion.

Ivita shook his head. "No, I am a guest bringing a solution to your problems."

"A distinguished guest."

"I’m here to give him such a big purse of gold."

Lifting his left hand, Ivita held up a bag full of gold. Immediately, the soldiers were in disbelief, eyes wide open in shock.

The solider in the guards tasked with relaying messages, after a moment of shock, quickly spun around and ran into the Governor’s Mansion without uttering a word.
