Chapter 390: Chapter 241: The Carnation Fairy’s Wish Opportunity_1
Inside the Governor’s Mansion, in a grand and elegant living room, the Governor -- a man donning a wig and a captain’s hat -- was surrounded by a few men in military uniforms.
The governor looked at the bag filled with gold on the table, puzzled. "What do you mean by this?"
He glanced at Ivita, sizing him up, "Giving me such a large bag of gold at this time, are you trying to secure my protection? Although this is tempting, it’s really unnecessary. If you can provide me with evidence of paying taxes at this port, or conducting large trade deals, you will naturally receive our protection."
"The Republic of Belisarius indeed worships money, but we are just in our means."
"Respecting the wealth of our clients is the same as respecting our own wealth."
He pushed the bag of gold on the table back towards Ivita, although he had not completely given up on the idea of that bag of gold.
He kept staring at Ivita.
Ivita noticed that the naval officers of the Republic of Belisarius who were around, also showed their desire for the bag in front of them.
Judging from the threat they posed to him, the strength of these officers should all be at the level of Great Knights.
Ivita looked at the governor in front of him with his white curly wig. This guy’s strength should be that of a Superior Knight, but might also have a higher professional level.
Moreover, this is a kingdom that possesses the Turin Law and the JusticeBearer’s Law.
The opponents might also have some specific items that could enhance their combat abilities, just like the revolver that zombie had on him.
The strength of the other side is equally unfathomable.
Ivita pushed the bag of gold coins out. "This is a gift for you."
The governor swallowed, "Hmm? What goods do I have that would require you to exchange such a large amount of gold?"
Ivita said to the governor, "I’ve heard that Lahaina Town has a deep cooperation with a certain fairy. I hope you can pass on the wishes of that fairy to me, and I will give you this bag of gold."
The governor instantly showed difficulty. "Well.."
"You don’t know, there are actually many things involved in this. You must be referring to the Carnation Fairy who has a partnership with us."
Speaking to Ivita, the governor said, "You must be Mr. Ivita, I have heard your name from the guard before. You may call me Governor Jack ."
Governor Jack continued, "I am delighted to meet you, but with the current urgency, I will get straight to the point. Every ten years, the Carnation Fairy fulfills the wish of a person from our town, and our townsfolk have been passing this wish-fulfilling opportunity on to the youngsters."
"This is set up by our town to reward outstanding young people."
"For this, we even hold a Knight Duel Tournament."
"Knight attendants, official knights, and people under the age of thirty-five can participate in this competition."
"The winner gets the Fairy’s Blessing Magic."
"So, It really isn’t something I can agree to."
Ivita said with a straight face,"This is the gold from Black Friday. They attacked the coast to recapture this bag of gold. With it, you will be able to repel the enemy."
"Governor Jack ..."
Ivita lifted the sack of gold, leaving the governor’s hand reaching out for the gold hanging in the air.
Ivita looked at the governor. "This is what I got from killing more than a dozen voodoo zombies and several human knights and grabbed from the hands of your enemies, therefore I have the right to dispose of it."
"So, are you saying that you will reject my trade because your power is insufficient?" he asked.
A naval colonel beside Governor Jack immediately drew his sword and pointed it at Ivita, "Every minute, dozens of people outside are dying, and you’re trying to negotiate with us here. We should return the gold to Black Friday immediately."
Ivita laughed scornfully. "Don’t push the moral pressure on me, I’m not a townsman. It’s as if you’re saying I’m a saint who must act selflessly. That goes against human nature, as well as the principled foundation of the Republic of Belisarius."
"Isn’t that right? Everything is negotiable."
Ivita stared at Governor Jack, saying, "Now you are the ones delaying time, if you immediately accept my request."
"Fewer people would die."
The Naval Colonel was enveloped in a black, evil qi, far surpassing the Black Feet Army’s mediocre efforts.
The terrifying, abundant evil qi filled the room, giving Ivita a heavy sense of pressure. The evil intentions of the other party were spreading through the evil qi towards him.
At the same time, Ivita’s left eye narrowed slightly, and the Fire of Law appeared from within it, in which sat a fire bird wearing a crown.
Killing a Great Knight was something Ivita was confident of, though it might mean a great sacrifice on his part.
However, Ivita’s intention was not to fight, but to deter the opposing party.
As expected, Governor Jack, a man knowledgeable of the wider world, was taken aback upon seeing the flame in Ivita’s left eye and exclaimed, "The Fire of Law?"
"So it’s a distinguished guest from Ambros."
"Norton!"
Jack the Governor turned to glower at the Naval Colonel releasing the evil qi, "Don’t mess around."
"Equal trades with powerful individuals is the principle of the Republic of Belisarius. Your moral standard is high, very high, and I admire you for it. But to demand that everyone adheres to it would be absurd and would rob the Republic of Belisarius of everything, including wealth."
"Human nature is greedy, and by exploiting this greed, we can create orderly prosperity."
Jack the Governor looked at Ivita and said:"I understand. A bag of gold may not necessarily break my rules, but if it can facilitate the departure of the Black Friday from this port, it indeed can break the rules."
"I can make that trade."
Ivita looked at him, silent.
Because just a moment ago, the man had claimed he didn’t have the authority to negotiate the matter with the Carnation Fairy.
Wilson glanced at Ivita, then stepped behind him to address Governor Jack, "My master would like to ask you how you intend to fulfill your promise."
Jack the Governor laughed. "I didn’t say anything just now."
"The proof of our town’s pledge with the Carnation Fairy is a Dove Blood Ruby Ring, which has always been kept at this port. Colonel Norton, go retrieve the Dove Blood Ruby Ring."
"I’ll bear all the consequences."
The Colonel hesitated. "But this is our town’s treasure; it’s supposed to be given to the most outstanding young person in our town."
"The Knight’s tournament just concluded a few days ago; they will be here soon to claim the ring."
"That’s my problem." A trace of anxiety flitted through Governor Jack’s eyes; he certainly did not want to lose it all.
The bag of gold brought by Ivita was the very thing he needed most right now.
He was nearly going mad because of it.
Only on the surface was he maintaining his composure.
He had considered resorting to force, but the Fire of Law shining in Ivita’s eyes moments earlier told him the price he would pay for such an approach, that it would introduce uncertainty.
Besides, the Republic of Belisarius welcomed all trades, they all had a trading culture.
Seeing the Colonel leave the room to retrieve the ring, Governor Jack quickly covered up his earlier lapse, regarding Ivita with a smiling face, "To be honest, Mr. Ivita, you have brought me good news."
"This is Ravenna’s locally brewed wine. We can enjoy it while we wait."
Ivita lifted his cup and took a sip, his mind kept wandering back to the issue with the Fairy.
He had met and heard many tales of Fairies, but this was his first time trying to utilize a Fairy’s Blessing Magic, hoping that it could help his Throwing Magic break its limits.
Due to the influence of the Six Gods, several of his other magic powers, including the Lightning Magic, were automatically upgraded by incorporating the names of Greek gods. Ra’s power also allowed him to integrate Flame Magic, enabling him to upgrade Flame Magic through fusion;
It seemed that Shiva’s Destruction Curse would transform the spell and cause a level upgrade. Similarly, Water Attribute Magic also worked this way. The power of the Feathered Serpent God had freed him from any learning restraints, and thanks to some accidents, the Dragon Palace Magic had undergone several fusions and was no longer at the apprentice level. At least until the Great Wizard level, this magic would automatically upgrade alongside him.
As for the Sky Attribute Magic, he still had none.
Now only War Magic needed a booster to break through the level limit.
