Chapter 181: Chapter 132: The Space in the Mirror and the Abbas Empire (4471)_1

Ivita was led into the tent by merchant Jackson, where a collection of ornate items was sitting amongst a group of naked women and a large velvet mattress. The air was laden with a decadent scent.

The Old Witch rolled her eyes. "Such is the nature of the people of the slave city-states; unlike the inhabitants of the Magic Black Forest, these are weak individuals who have succumbed to their own desires."

Seemingly deep in thought, Ivita realized this was probably typical of the people residing in the Atlas Mountain Range region. They lived a rather liberated lifestyle.

Jackson pretended not to hear her.

He dragged out an iron box from a corner and unlocked it with a key he had on his person. Within it was an array of random items. He scrupulously rummaged through them, producing a piece of rope, a hand-sized mirror, a mushroom, and a parchment of sheepskin.

"These are goods I managed to pilfer from the Candy House," Jackson revealed. "However, to be honest, the only thing I actually understand is the rope; the functionalities of the other three items remain undiscoverable to me, even after twenty or so years."

"Although, I have managed to infer some of the uses of this mirror."

He cleared a wooden table of its occupancies and arranged the four items on top of it.

Ivita beckoned the Old Witch, addressing her as the Hearthstone Grand Witch, "Take a look at these four objects."

The Hearthstone Witch gave them a cursory look. "A strong black magic clings to this rope."

"This mirror...my goodness, we are fortunate indeed. This mirror inherently possesses a potent black magic, you see..."

"This mirror is actually a storage box. Its backing comes equipped with a storage space."

The Old Witch began to caress the surface of the mirror. After completing a full circle, she firmly pressed her thumb against the top-left corner. Amazingly, her thumb sunk into the mirror, closely followed by her entire arm.

Ivita observed with fascination.

"Your Majesty, this must be the Candy Witch’s storage mirror—of which by some bizarre turn of events, was stolen by this worthless merchant. There may still be some stuff in there," the Old Witch’s arm was fully submerged in the mirror’s interior. "Let me examine the extent of the storage capacity."

"It seems enormous; occupying about half the size of a room. Such a valuable item."

"Oh!!"

The Old Witch froze, "There’s...there’s someone inside!"

"It’s a Demon Hunter!"

"My hand!"

She yanked her arm out, pain etched on her face as she discovered her whole arm was pierced by three arrows.

Far worse was the manifestation of three red-colored ’&’ symbols on her left arm. As her black robe came into contact with the symbols, it instantly caught fire.

Her skin was about to do the same.

The Old Witch was panic-stricken, "It’s the Demon Hunter’s Fire Demon Exorcism Arrow!"

"I!"

"Your Majesty, lend me the Sword in Fire."

Without hesitation, Ivita unsheathed the Sword of Fire strapped to her back and tossed it to the Old Witch, her hands imperceptibly still.

In receipt of the Sword in Fire, the Old Witch made a swift decision, wielding the fiery blade to sever her entire left arm.

The disembodied arm rolled around before halting. As it detached from her body, the three ’&’ symbols disappeared as well.

The Old Witch cast a furious glare at Jackson, "There’s a living person inside this mirror!"

"You worthless merchant, have you lost your mind?"

"Uh?"

Jackson panicked at the sight of the witch’s severed arm and the arrows that had gone through it. He feared Ivita would refuse to make a purchase and that the Old Witch might demand compensation for her medical expenses.

With a pained expression, Jackson mused, "Something’s not right."

"I’ve had this mirror for twenty years, and I never discovered that there was a person inside!"

"Ah, right! I’ve never extended my entire arm into it, only my hand."

Color drained from his face as he thought of this, filled with relief.

Lucky for him, he had only ever inserted his hand.

If that hadn’t been the case, he would be dead by now.

However, his failure to thoroughly inspect the goods, thereby causing injury to a client, was undeniably his fault.

Therefore, Jackson felt somewhat guilty.

Ivita put two and two together—the witch from the Candy House must have trapped a Demon Hunter inside the mirror, which was fortuitously stolen by the merchant.

The merchant, unaware of this, inadvertently imprisoned the Demon Hunter within the mirror for twenty years.

The Old Witch gingerly placed the mirror back on the table, somewhat shell-shocked by the ordeal.

This mirror was an extravagant piece. It was lined with intricate drawings of golden candies, maltose, and strawberry candies, while the back was adorned with an antiquated yet luxurious sheet of brass.

In this era, brass wasn’t necessarily cheaper than gold.

The Old Witch turned to Ivita, saying, "Demon Hunters possess four primary skills: one, archery; two, the use of Dharma seals; three, brewing magic potions; four, dual swordsmanship."

"Demon Hunters are a race birthed into existence through the use of magic potions. With each trial they surpass, their physical strength and Dharma seal capabilities escalate a grade. Thus, utilizing the power of magic potions is their inherent skill. Special formulas for potions, like the Shock Potion used by Black Wolf, are only known to a few witches, wizards, and Demon Hunters of the Griffin School."

"The mark that appeared on my arm earlier is a Dharma seal."

The Old Witch shuddered slightly. "The Demon Hunter inside the mirror’s subsidiary space has likely passed the fifth trial, classifying him as a Great Knight amongst knights and a Great Wizard amongst wizards."
