Chapter 182: Chapter 132: The Space in the Mirror and the Abbas Empire (4471)_2
"He’s very strong."
"The Mark of Fire Demon Exorcism he just used is a signature of one of the Demon Hunter’s factions."
"This mark is specifically designed to deal with witches and wizards. It multiplies its destructive force against us, but for ordinary people, it’s basically just like branding iron."
Ivita nodded.
It seemed that, as it literally suggests, the Demon Hunter was a dominant profession in dealing with magical creatures and witches, yet they were at a disadvantage when confronting ordinary people and knights.
Last time, in order to stop a knight with two extraordinary organs for him, Black Wolf was stabbed multiple times.
If it wasn’t for the city militiamen of Parviga who later came to assist, he would have probably perished in a hallway near the city hall.
Ivita finds the mirror a bit tricky and still needs to figure out how to deal with the Demon Hunter in it who has passed the fifth trial.
This Demon Hunter had gone through one more trial than Black Wolf.
However, that didn’t seem to matter much.
He could get Black Wolf, who was also a Demon Hunter, to come over and see if they could communicate.
The Old Witch did not seem bothered by the loss of her left hand. To her, she could just replace it with a spare one, or if there wasn’t one available, she could just take off someone else’s arm.
She pointed to the mushroom and said, "This is a unique product of the Magic Black Forest: the Giant mushroom."
"Anyone who consumes the Giant mushroom can grow ten times in size for up to one hour. However, it’s very risky as the weight of the person remains the same as before, so the enlarged individual is susceptible to bone fractures and can be easily lifted."
The merchant Jackson was also a bit scared, as he touched the back of his head. "Thankfully, I never ate it."
"Lord Ivita, why not you also buy this mushroom? Maybe it could be of some use."
Ivita remained silent.
What use could he make of it?
Probably it would be very expensive because its effect was indeed magical, even though it wasn’t really functional for him.
The Old Witch opened the last scroll. She initially seemed rather disinterested, but became more focused after reading the first line. "Huh? This is Arad-Assyrian."
"In many stories and legends, Arad-Assyrian is considered the language of the first human empire, the age of which, however, is far removed from that of the ancient civilization and the ancient world."
"It is a far cry from the era we currently reside in."
"The history is so long that it’s unknown whether it really existed or was simply made up."
The Old Witch read out the text on the scroll, "I recorded my life in Arad language. This is the lament of the last princess of the Abbas Empire. In an attempt to sustain the existence of this nation, I was married to eight royal families."
"But the empire still collapsed."
"With the collapse of the empire, the universal law - language, was also shattered. When I tried to unify the language of this world again, what I was met with was an even more fragmented language system."
"Darya Abbas is a sinful woman."
"And yet I know that the universal law of Abbas is bound to collapse, just as the universal law of Arad is inevitably doomed."
"Whoever seeks the law shall be punished by heaven!"
"But I wrote this book of confession to tell the future generations that if you want to pursue the law, pay attention to the words related to the Abbas Empire. If you can overcome the overbearing presence in later generations and consolidate the universal law - language, Darya Abbas will thank you and turn all my remaining spirit into a Blessing Magic for you to prevent your fate from being tampered with."
"But perhaps, even this scroll can’t be preserved. I have made over ten thousand copies. I don’t know how many copies can be passed down to future generations and for how long they can last."
The Old Witch furrowed her brows, realizing right away that those were likely the secret records collected by the Candy House Witch.
Because there were two other kinds of writing following in the scroll. One was in the Ancient World’s script.
The Old Witch had a natural advantage when it came to learning languages, as Hearthstone Castle was a renowned center of classical literature.
She effortlessly read the text from the ancient world, "The fate of Darya Abbas seems to be what our world is facing now. All recent events do not seem to be seamlessly connected, as if there’s a driving force missing. But this force, which I can’t see, I can only refer to it as ’it’. Our war against the Civilization of Fire might be futile. We might have misidentified the real enemy all along."
Then, the Old Witch read out the Ancient Civilization’s script, "Blimey! There’s even an autograph on this passage. It’s from the tyrant Shaw!"
Ivita urged her to keep going.
The Old Witch continued, "Darya Abbas was just a woman, and the famous philosopher of the ancient world - Tutor Deusx, the teacher of the Great Emperor, was but an old man. Their worries are baseless, merely excuses for losers unwilling to fight. Civilization may decay, but so what? We can just gather the laws again. Gathering laws need a ’vessel’. This ’vessel’ is the caliber of a king."
After finishing her reading, the Hearthstone Grand Witch threw the scroll back onto the table, shrugging her shoulders and saying, "Your Majesty, that’s all."
Ivita widened his eyes, staring at her for a while.
