Chapter 864: Volume 27, Furious Onslaught Chapter 5: Total War

Glancing at Konti with some surprise, Komer had not expected this fellow to take a liking to the opponent so quickly. The fact that Michelangelo’s difficulty could be discerned showed that there must be something Mr. Konti was relying on. However, Komer did not think that Konti was capable of handling him. Psychic Mages were more difficult to deal with than ordinary Mages, as they targeted your spirit; having deep and refined magic power did not mean you could handle a Psychic Mage. The best way to deal with a Psychic Mage was with Psychic Magic, and only an insider could truly handle this kind of offbeat Mage.

"Mr. Konti, I’m sorry, but I had my eye on Mr. Michelangelo first, and I’m afraid I have to disappoint you. However, I would suggest you choose one of the other three Mages as your opponent, as they are no less formidable than Mr. Michelangelo. And as Mr. Schiller happens to be the temporary custodian of the Religious Court, I believe you will find plenty of ’common ground’ with him." Komer expressed his intentions very tactfully, avoiding offense to the other’s pride while allowing him to happily accept his arrangement.

With a somewhat regretful shrug, Konti finally looked away from Michelangelo, "Since the Dark Lord has his sights set on him, it is his honor. I have no choice but to look elsewhere. I hope that even if I have to be carried back like Solonberg did, it will be better than winning effortlessly without meaning, which is not what I’d like to see."

By now, Vladimir Koff’s Black Iron Spear was clashing with the second Heavenly Knight, and the performance of the Metal Magic Doll caused all three Heavenly Knights to shudder with apprehension. If in battle one became the target of such a being, it would be truly terrifying, especially if the creature took the guise of an assassin, its power would be exponentially greater. Shatima had already resumed his furious and raging fight with the Dwarven Obese Knight, the Fierce Wind howling, the aura whirling, and the four Long Spears entwined, raising a towering wave.

The succession of head-on clashes drew everyone’s attention. With the Metal Magic Doll coming in to assist, especially with its irregular and sudden ambush tactics, all three Mages felt a significant threat. Just because Trajan could dodge the Metal Magic Doll’s full force strike with his extraordinary reflexes, didn’t mean that the other two Heavenly Knights could evade the sneak attacks from a Dark knight and a Dragon warrior, let alone from the Metal Magic Doll. Those shovel-shaped spikes were like hidden weapons of the dark night, ready to explode at any moment, forcing the two Heavenly Knights to divert their focus from Vladimir Koff and Shatima’s strikes.

Trajan was truly angered, even though he was able to calmly face the injury caused by Solonberg’s Frost Fighting Qi strike; however, this asymmetrical tactic made him feel mocked. The Metal Magic Doll was clearly under the control of the Puppet Mage, consciously avoiding a direct confrontation with him, instead attacking his two companions in a guerrilla fashion. Just two ambushes already had his two companions on the back foot, reversing what was once a clear advantage. This was intolerable.

Trajan acknowledged that this Metal Magic Doll was one of the most extraordinary things he had encountered, but didn’t believe it could influence the entire course of the battle. It was just a doll, no matter how cunning, sharp, or seemingly intelligent. Its intelligence could only mimic and follow; it was incapable of innovation or adaptation. If he, a Heavenly Knight, could not deal with this creature, he would be unworthy of the title.

The Knight Spear whipped up cyclones, closely pursuing the flexible Metal Magic Doll like a meteor chasing the moon. The Metal Magic Doll seemed to sense the looming crisis, continuously changing its stance and weaving between the two groups of combatants, while still launching brazen sneak attacks.

Newman closely observed the actions of the Heavenly Knight, noting his angry eyes indicating his urgent intent to eliminate the Metal Magic Doll. The glint at the tip of the Knight Spear had swelled to over four feet long, its flickering light humming, a sign of Light Fighting Qi being pushed to the extreme; any object that came close to its surge of power would be shattered and destroyed.

With the help of the two Dark Mages, Flamengo, and Solka, Newman’s body was filled with an abundance of magic power. The spell had been silently recited in his heart several times, just awaiting the final release word. But the time was not yet ripe; Komer had already warned him never to underestimate these Heavenly Knights: strike to kill in one blow, or bide your time and wait for a better opportunity. This small Magic Array was the only impressive thing Newman could muster, but even with a Magic Scroll, it was hard to sustain the immense mana needed. Fortunately, there were several new allies in this group, and with these Dark Mages who possessed abundant magic power foundations, helping him made everything possible.

"Lord Michelangelo, watching them fight with such enthusiasm, don’t you also feel an itch to join in?" Komer finally stepped forward, smiling and issuing a challenge, "How about I keep you company? I’ve long been looking forward to your Psychic Magic."

"Heh heh, Lord Komer, I too have long heard of your great name. Since you are so eager, how could I possibly refuse? I shall humbly comply with your desire for this duel, and I am equally looking forward to it. I hope that you won’t disappoint me," Michelangelo replied with a loud laugh, serenely accepting Komer’s challenge.

"Good, that’s the spirit, let’s begin then," Komer nodded, his gaze sharply fixed on his opponent as he furiously combined a series of spell incantations and gestures to launch his attack.

It seemed as though everyone present could suddenly feel an oppressive sensation bearing down from the air around them; even the sky above appeared to darken and solidify. To everyone’s sight, Komer’s body suddenly transformed into a nine-headed Devil, his entire being expelling flames outward, with countless sturdy arms flashing with lightning. Whether it was the pairs of knights engaged in combat or the other individuals from both sides maintaining vigilance around the perimeter, at this moment, they were all struck with immense fear by Komer’s abrupt transformation—such a change was simply unimaginable!

However, in Michelangelo’s eyes, though Komer’s psychic intimidation was masterful, it was not enough to significantly affect him. As a Psychic Mage, Michelangelo’s spiritual power had already reached a state of utter tranquility. Seeing the shock and fear on the faces of those around him, he understood the considerable impact that Komer’s psychic magic had on others, especially on his own party members. The Mages and Magic Apprentices behind Schiller were clearly greatly startled, unable to suppress their panic as they began to launch their defensive magics.

Using similarly mysterious gestures and incantations, Michelangelo’s spell voice suddenly became clear and melodious, spreading and filling the area as though hot soup melting snow; Komer’s freshly initiated psychic magic dissipated into nothingness before Michelangelo’s spellbreaking.

"Heh heh, Sir Michelangelo, indeed, not bad, quite interesting. It seems that without adding a bit more to my spell, I cannot truly showcase my abilities. Beware, this time it’s not just simple psychic magic anymore; it seems we can now begin our real contest," Komer’s tone had become unusually sinister and fierce as he spoke his last words.

A series of Dark Bindings became countless, almost invisible, black ripples rushing towards Michelangelo. Simultaneously, as Komer forcefully struck with the Black Crystal Staff in his hand, the ultimate work of dark magic, ’Demon-devouring Soul,’ arrogantly came into existence. As blood from the bite marks between his fingers dripped in, the ’Demon-devouring Soul’ was no longer just a mere dark spell. The transformed and mixed ’Demon-devouring Soul’ now possessed the cursed mana of the Beastmen witchcraft ’blood sacrifice ritual.’

This was the first time Komer had mixed the witchcraft he was experimenting with into his magic. There wasn’t much recorded on Beastmen witchcraft in the books and memories left by Kennifer III; blood sacrifice was one of them. It could greatly strengthen the power of the catalyzed spell and add abilities such as infiltration and erosion, but this type of auxiliary blood sacrifice was more often noted in the use of witchcraft. Komer was employing it for the first time in magic, without even a prior test. Had he not seen Michelangelo so effortlessly break his psychic magic, Komer would not have taken this risk.

As soon as Komer took action, Konti could no longer hold himself back. His primary desire to come to the North was to challenge top experts to improve himself. The most powerful opponent he had set his sights on had already been engaged by the Dark Lord, and although Konti himself could not avoid being affected by the latter’s psychic magic, Michelangelo had managed to break it with ease. This realization made Konti aware of the significant gap between him and Michelangelo. With no chance to challenge Michelangelo, Schiller became the best alternative for him.

Konti’s body moved lightly forward, and with a series of gestures aided by the spell, a dense cloud of black mist was created in an instant, followed by the eerie sound of ghostly howling penetrating the ears, sinister and dark, floating and echoing like reverberation around the space.

"God of the Undead, please grant your most loyal disciple the power he needs. He requires your help to defeat all who dare to desecrate you. Oh passage to the underworld, please deliver the messenger of my revered God of the Undead. They shall witness the great darkness descending once more!" (To be continued.
