Chapter 863: Volume 27: Sudden Storm Arising, Chapter 4: Killing to No Avail
When the thick and heavy Dragon Spear wrapped in fierce qi energy swept over, the Dwarven Obese Knight realized that his opponent had already entered combat mode, completely disregarding the normative code of knights—this strike was a classic example of a sneak attack!
Whether it was a sneak attack or a fair fight, at this point, feelings like anger, annoyance, disdain, and hatred could not change the current situation. Shatima was quite smart to a certain extent; Solonberg’s failure had deeply affected her, and she didn’t want to end her journey in Marco as disgracefully as Solonberg had. Unlike the knights, she did not have their painstaking hesitations. To defeat her opponent, any means were perfectly acceptable. The human tendency to judge by appearances was not a problem for her. For Shatima, a lethal strike was indeed the most appropriate outcome.
Before even making a move, the Dragon Spear had already focused on the full strength of Shatima. She had not cultivated any Fighting Qi, but the innate Dragon Power that came with being part of the Dragon Clan was enough to make her look down on any opponent who dared to challenge her in terms of martial power. The full-length bin iron Dragon Spear, as thick as a duck egg, made all the knight’s weapons look inferior—not even the axe-spear of the Dwarven Obese Knight was an exception. With a boom as if thunder were rolling, just as the Dwarven Obese Knight was grinding his teeth and cursing this shameless fellow, the thick and heavy spearhead of the Dragon Spear had already forcefully made its appearance in front of him.
At that moment, the Dwarven Obese Knight’s figure became more graceful and agile than a ballet dancer on ice, with a beautiful twist and dodge, the surging momentum of the Dragon Spear missed entirely.
Shatima daintily gave her opponent a gesture of appreciation with her left hand, capable of dodging her attack which had already covered a radius of ten feet around it in such a sudden situation—it must be said that the flight technique of this Dwarven Obese Knight had reached quite a high level. Her right hand violently pulled back the butt of the Dragon Spear, the missed spearhead like a twisting, retaliating poison dragon, the fierce qi energy instantly reversed and spirally, tightly clamping onto the swiftly fleeing silhouette of the Dwarven Obese Knight.
Seemingly lifted by the powerful force of the Dragon Spear, Shatima’s figure danced elegantly in the air, the heavy iron armor not affecting her nimble form at all, her figure volleying towards locked securely onto the dodging Dwarven Obese Knight amid the air vortex.
The Phantom Silver Axe Spear in the hands of the Dwarven Obese Knight deftly spun out several beautiful spear flowers, silver lotuses lifting from the ground into the air wave after wave, with the bin iron Dragon Spear fiercely plunging down like a roaring mad dragon, the two waves of fierce wind finally completed their first official clash since the engagement began.
The wild and fierce energy collided within two swirling shadows—one black and the other silver-gray—mixing with a series of metallic clangs and sparks. The two different forces of air tangled and rotated together, emitting a sharp screech.
Like a butterfly suddenly caught in a downpour, Shatima’s light figure was hit outwards for fifteen feet before stabilizing in mid-air. Her pretty face turned from red to white, then from white to bluish, eventually becoming pale. The water-like glint in her eyes revealed a snake-like hiss of anger, firmly fixing her gaze on her opponent. Even having the advantage of a surprise attack and upper hand, she still did not achieve the expected result. A one-strike kill was merely a beautiful illusion. The prestige of a Heavenly Knight was built on countless fierce combats of blood and fire, and even under such a disadvantage, Shatima’s full-bodied dragon-powered charge had still failed to succeed.
However, the Dwarven Obese Knight did not gain much benefit either, his bulky body continuously moving sideways and backwards on the ground to mitigate the huge impact of the Dragon Spear’s fierce strike. No matter how intricate the spear technique, it ultimately had to be resolved by a comparison of strength. With his opponent having an absolute advantage, no matter how he maneuvered to evade this strike, he could never achieve his wish. The knight left a series of footprints on the hard stone slab, sinking half an inch into the floor surface, indicating the immense pressure the Dwarven Obese Knight had endured in that collision, and leaving him even more disheveled, his knight boots’ soles completely worn away.
Taking a few deep breaths to stabilize the wildly beating heart in his chest, a sense of errant airflow transmitted faintly through his body’s meridians, indicating that his body had sustained damage from the overwhelming force of that strike. The Dwarven Obese Knight was somewhat astonished; his opponent’s strike had been purely physical without any Fighting Qi, and his own Light Fighting Qi rebound had no effect whatsoever. Was this guy naturally super strong?
No, no, that’s impossible; no mortal could cultivate a power to resist the rebound of Fighting Qi. Even if he had natural divine strength, he could not withstand such fierce recoil. Without Fighting Qi protection, anybody’s internals would only face shattering under his rebound, unless he could defend with magic or neutralize his own Fighting Qi’s rebound force. But this fellow obviously had not used any magic nor seemed to be a Mage.
The Dwarven Obese Knight cast his gaze toward the distant long-bearded Mage, Michelangelo. His companion quickly understood the Dwarven Obese Knight’s query, shook his head to indicate that their opponent had not received any magical support from the surrounding Mages. So what was going on? Could this guy be a non-human?
The Dwarven Obese Knight’s puzzled gaze swept up and down Shatima’s body, making Shatima feel a chill, as if the ugly fellow had taken a liking to him. Shatima’s self-satisfied feeling lasted only a second before it was replaced by dismay and anger. Being fancied by such a person didn’t seem like something to be proud of, and perhaps in the eyes of Komer and the others, they would even mock him. Shatima resolved to stop the other’s "wild thoughts."
"Vladimir Koff, what are you waiting for? Attack now!"
The Dragon Spear whipped up an endless storm again, but this time the Dwarven Obese Knight no longer dodged. The milky, bright Light Fighting Qi burst forth mightily, and the axe spear transformed into countless bizarre hallucinations, proudly meeting the attack. At the same time, Vladimir Koff had completed his pre-battle preparations, his Dark Fighting Qi had reached its peak, turning dark and profound. His whole body looked like a deep, black Devil, and as the Knight Spear flashed through the air in a series of movements, seven black figures twisted and turned, forming a semi-circle of attack towards the knight holding up the Knight’s Sword.
At Mikhailovich’s gesture, the Metal Magic Doll became incredibly agile, executing a beautiful ground-skimming leap. Thirty meters was like merely a meter to the Metal Magic Doll—it "whooshed" and appeared in front of the blood-stained Heavenly Knight, its arms’ shovel-shaped spikes instantly turning into two rotten silver light rings, fiercely striking the unsuspecting Heavenly Knight.
"Trajan, be careful!" Even Schiller and Michelangelo, from a distance, couldn’t help but exclaim in shock, so astonishing was the performance of the Metal Magic Doll, its ghostly speed and utterly venomous tactics were like a Charming Spirit from hell.
The Heavenly Knight had no time to dodge, the Knight Spear fiercely plunging into the ground, grasping the tail of the spear with both hands and stomping down, his legs executing a beautiful horizontal kick. The sharp blade-flowers barely spun past his jacket, a continuous clang of metal on metal, sparks scattering from the shaft of the Knight Spear, two corners of the garments fluttering down.
"Good, spectacular!" Even Komer and the Dark Mages behind him couldn’t help but applaud, though the applause was tinged with a hint of regret. The performance of the Metal Magic Doll was so brilliantly exquisite, truly worthy of their Wisdom Magic Crystal, while the emergency horizontal kick performed by the Heavenly Knight was equally splendid, making the spectators feel the journey was worthwhile.
"Hmm, Trajan, haha, it truly is Trajan indeed, worthy of being Trajan, the first knight of the Vazinsky lineage, the Corps Commander of the Sky Peng Knights, you have not disappointed."
"Dark Lord, is this the Corps Commander of the Sky Peng Knights, Trajan?" Giovanni’s eyes sparkled with joy, even in the South, Giovanni had heard of the fame of one of the three great Knight Leaders of the Church of Light. Although he had not yet truly reached the level of a Paladin, the step forward might just be a matter of experience for Trajan. Perhaps after today’s battle, Trajan could cross that distance.
Being able to meet this Heavenly Knight would be incredibly beneficial for Giovanni as well, both Magic and Martial arts require arduous practice to truly excel. In the South, the lack of real challenges had always been a source of frustration for Giovanni, yet upon arriving in the North, being able to participate in such a high-level duel was undoubtedly a rare opportunity. The strike by Mikhailovich’s Metal Magic Doll was so cunningly fierce that it made Giovanni shiver, and yet Trajan managed to dodge it effortlessly, making Giovanni feel somewhat inferior.
"Correct, who else could perform so perfectly? It’s not shameful for Solonberg to be defeated by him. I can’t imagine anyone in the North who could surpass him, other than Trajan. Kent seems to be a bit inferior to this Knight Trajan," Komer reflected. Ever since he returned home, Komer had nearly fallen into the hands of the Thunderhorse Knights. The impression the Thunderhorse Knights had left on him was not very deep, and Captain Kent seemed not to have had many opportunities to show his skills, perhaps it was only at times like these that these knights would demonstrate their true abilities.
"Dark Lord, isn’t that Michelangelo also a famous Mage under Vazinsky’s command? It seems that he has also surpassed the level of an Archmage and is stepping into the realm of a Magic Instructor," Konti said with a deep gaze, intently watching the long-bearded Mage who floated unaffected.
