Chapter 795: Volume 24: Beacon Fires Link the Camps, Chapter 8: Impulse is the Devil
Onia had already ceased supporting the "Blaze Burning Sky" with his mana. By that time, the massive Fire Magic Array had been activated, and his involvement was merely a bonus. Even without his support, the Fire Magic Array would still advance towards the Caucasian Army Array with an unstoppable momentum. The only option for those of lower races, if they did not wish to be turned to ashes by the relentless Magic Fire, was to turn and flee. The water magic released by the opponent was increasingly feeble, evidently lacking the sustainability for a prolonged engagement. The problem at hand was that the opponents had also launched an unabashed counterattack, using the undead from the Dark Abyss of the different world as their reliance.
Even before the battle, Onia had harbored doubts that his opponent would confront him so abruptly; Lord Komer was not one to be underestimated. Malone’s death had fully proven the man’s cunning and sophistication. Although the reasons behind Malone’s death were unclear, one thing was certain—this individual harbored a hostile disposition towards the Church of Light. A battle that would decide their fates could not unfold without preparation. The entry of his own Royal Court Magicians and the Three Saints of the Church of Light would hardly go unnoticed. He would surely have countermeasures and the undead emerging from the dark fog might very well be his trump card.
The initial tension quickly dissipated. Onia was not one to be cowed by difficulties. Although fierce, the undead were not to be underestimated, for the strength of the Church of Light was formidable—those who underestimated it would regret it forever! Those accursed undead, this time they must be completely obliterated. Onia meticulously counted each undead as they emerged.
Two Giant Zombies were undoubtedly the toughest opponents. Relying on martial power alone was insufficient to defeat them; the only way was to completely annihilate their Dark Origin with the Light Divine Technique, which required an immensely strong Light Power. The Necromancer Knight, riding a Ghost Warhorse, was similarly challenging. The Ghost Warhorse’s light and elegant steps seemed like a stroll in hell. His Dark Knight’s Spear oozed a greasy dark light and his mostly decayed face, with two deep-set dark eyes and only a rotting nose hanging onto some flesh and bone morsels, was enough to make one want to vomit.
The Black Warrior wielding a Bone Spirit Flame Sword was undoubtedly the chief of the large group of skeleton warriors behind him. With his imposing stature and the Bone Spirit Flame Sword exuding an endless aura of death, each sweep through the air seemed to tear through the dark space. Occasionally, ghosts of fire would splash down and linger on the mud. Defeating these two Black Warriors seemed daunting; their appearance alone could overpower the headless fervor of the skeleton warriors as formidable foes not so easily vanquished. Lastly, a Bone Python emerged, its series of dense, white bones glaring bizarrely in the sunshine. As it moved and coiled, a massive head housed a black Magic Crystal shining with a strange light—wait, what was this?!
Onia was immensely surprised; this Bone Python was clearly not an undead! Undead do not require Magic Crystals for support; they were merely tools for a necromancer. Yet, embedded within this Bone Python’s head was a Magic Crystal. Could this be a Puppet Bone Python?
Onia’s guess was correct; it was a Puppet Bone Python, not summoned by Uma but crafted by Puppet Mage Mihayevich using the corpse of a Komolra giant python to create a magic puppet! It retained the powerful attack power of the Komolra giant python but was no longer limited by vitality. Unless the Magic Crystal hidden within its head was completely destroyed, it would be an undying Komolra giant python!
What shocked Onia was not only the Puppet Bone Python but also the appearance of two oddly shaped Magic Puppets following it! With frames entirely made of Magic Metal and brimming with dense mana, they exhibited an elegant, almost artistic spirit. Only the sinister design of their upper limbs revealed the murderous intent hidden within. The slate-gray color seemed to churn with a demonic essence, indicating their strong magical support. Their sharp, shovel-like upper limbs moved deftly, bringing a chill with each motion, while all their joints were covered with spike-like burrs, making them literal metal killing machines!
The two Magic Puppets moved in sync but remained extraordinarily cautious. Their behavior was clearly instinctive, which astonished Onia, indicating these were highly intelligent Magic Puppets. This meant that their creator was not only a skilled Mechanism Warlock but also adept in Psychic Magic. Only then could the Wisdom Magic Crystal be flawlessly integrated into these puppets, allowing them a certain degree of intelligent judgment.
Iliana felt a chill throughout her body. Although her combat experience was not as extensive as Onia’s, her insights, being from Marco, were significantly superior. While Onia had indeed recognized the threat of the Giant Zombies, he did not understand it as deeply as Iliana. The Giant Spirit Clan had long been extinct on the Continent, a race close to gods now mostly existing in historical books. Now appearing in zombie forms, Iliana did not believe they were merely zombies. Their appearance also meant that their abilities during their lifetimes might have been preserved, which could prove fatal for their own side.
