Chapter 689: Volume Nineteen: Lost Horizon Chapter Seventeen: Handshake

As the opponent’s towering sword qi was about to pour down, Komer raised his hand somewhat helplessly to stop the impulsive act, "Miss Katrina, I can reveal my identity to you, but it must be limited to your knowledge alone. Can we call a ceasefire for now, what do you say? I know your martial arts have reached the martial arts realm, but that doesn’t mean you can defeat me."

It seemed that Katrina considered Komer’s proposal and her cool gaze lingered on his face, "Alright, I accept your proposal, but I have one condition. You must take this strike from me!"

"It’s a deal! Then please, Miss Katrina, give it your all!" Komer’s chest swelled with endless pride. From the uncertain gleam at the tip of his opponent’s sword, Komer had already sensed that she had not just recently stepped into the martial arts realm. Even Solonberg and Vladimir Koff would likely have trouble gaining the upper hand against her. If it had been before his ordeal in the Different World, he certainly would not have feared her, but defeating her effortlessly would not be easy. However, for his current self, that was no longer an issue.

Like the Milky Way pouring down, a stream of silver light enveloped the entire hall in an instant. The sweeping silvery-white sword qi was vast and overwhelming, as if it were sweeping everything in space, making it hard to even catch one’s breath. That was when Komer truly understood the tyranny of a real martial powerhouse. It seemed Solonberg and Vladimir Koff had never truly given their all, which had led him to believe that martial arts were nothing but an appendage to magic. He hadn’t expected that merely entering the martial arts stage could display such imposing momentum.

But that did not mean Komer was without recourse, left with no choice but to wait for death!

Putting the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp aside, Komer flicked his fingers and dark red blood sprayed out, instantly forming a purple-black film. The film split into three, then from three into nine, layer upon layer, eventually becoming a solid barrier of countless films shielding Komer.

The indomitable sword qi shot forth, its flickering brilliance puncturing countless layers of film in an instant. The purple-black films kept vaporizing into dense, red smoke that wafted away, the intense, nauseating smell almost splitting one’s head.

Taken aback, Katrina had never expected her impregnable Tianhe Sword Energy to meet such resistance. In her experience, not even an Archmage’s Magic Shield could stand against her earth-splitting power, the ultimate expression of her materialized Fighting Qi, an immovable force beyond human resistance. Yet the scene before her made Katrina truly recognize that among magic practitioners, there were powers capable of contending with her Tianhe Sword Energy.

And Katrina wasn’t the only one surprised. The Heavenly Silkworm Magic Cocoon, which had consumed much of Komer’s efforts, was almost pierced by her sword qi. Although Komer had anticipated the formidable strength of her sword qi, he hadn’t expected his last protective magic to be so easily breached. If not for a last-minute application of the Solidification Technique, her sword qi might have carved a bloody hole through the middle of his body.

With his heart pounding, Komer consecutively applied three Solidification Techniques to enhance the power of the Heavenly Silkworm Magic Cocoon. Meanwhile, Katrina, suspended rigidly in the air, could retreat no further. Like a rapidly spinning top, she whirled around, her body insanely spinning with the thrusting stiletto as its pivot.

"Puff," "puff," "puff," the sounds of continuous piercing filled the air. Even Komer’s robust Heavenly Silkworm Magic Cocoon could not withstand the combination of the unstoppable Tianhe Sword Energy and Katrina’s Sky Net Spin. The shining stiletto, having breached the last barrier, impaled the stunned Komer with a chilling thrust!

A smile had yet to solidify on her lips when Katrina realized her oversight. The hollow apparition in front of her faded away slowly, and Komer’s stunned expression seemed to mock her. Furious, Katrina swung her stiletto, unleashing a fierce wind that whipped up endless dust in the hall, "Despicable coward, come out now!"

Taking advantage of the lingering afterimage to dodge the blow, the real Komer slowly emerged in a corner of the hall. With a somewhat helpless sigh, Komer said faintly, "Miss Katrina, aren’t you being a bit too unreasonable? Can a struggle between us only be considered truly heroic if we meet force with force, while evading and dodging is deemed cowardly and despicable? Where is the logic in that?"

Rendered speechless by Komer’s questioning, yet filled with suppressed anger that she had no outlet for, Katrina glared at that detestable man for a long time before she spat out bitterly and with a stomp, sheathed her sword.

"Alright, Miss Katrina, the esteemed Mediterranean Queen, I think we can now sit down and talk calmly, don’t you think?" Seeing her luminous grey eyes quickly regain clarity, Komer nodded inwardly in approval. Indeed worthy of leading the Carter Fleet, just this ability to effortlessly control her composure was enough to make many blush with shame. It was quite rare for a woman to maintain such a calm and wise mind at all times, and Komer didn’t believe that what had just occurred was a loss of rationality due to impulsiveness. Perhaps she was using this method to conceal her true self.

Her chill gaze lingered upon Komer’s face before the red-haired woman with her hand on her sword finally nodded with a smile, "Hmm, not bad, kid. I have to admit, you indeed have the standing to speak with me. Even though I don’t trust you, enough foreplay has been had, let’s get down to business. Fulfill your promise first, who are you? And what is your intention?"

Taken aback by the blunt inquiry despite preparation, Komer pinched his thumb and forefinger together, and after a moment, raised his head to meet her cold gaze as he replied, "I am Komer, Lord of Caucasus and Leon in the Kingdom of Nicosia. As for my intentions, I wish to withhold that for now, until after our next steps in the conversation. May I?"

"The Komer of Caucasus and Leon?" Surprise flashed across Katrina’s face, then a cunning smile appeared, "Interesting, very interesting. While everyone is talking about your adventure to the Continent, you have arrived on Dacorsica Island. Could it be that a hurricane blew your expedition ship to Gozo Island, or perhaps you wish to become a true Dark Priest? Can you tell me the true story?"
