Chapter 688: Volume Nineteen: Lost Horizon Chapter Sixteen: Wind and Thunder Magic Harp

Even though Komer understood that what he said might be true, Katrina knew that if she didn’t deliver a necessary counterstrike to such a bold challenge at her doorstep, the reputation of the Red-haired Witch would likely fade significantly across the Mediterranean. With a slight gesture, Katrina’s body had already quietly shifted away.

The piercing shriek that followed, accompanied by numerous javelins and crossbow bolts, sealed off every inch of space and angle within several meters around Komer. This pure physical attack had no trickery, just a forceful blow. The only way to dodge such an attack would be to vanish into the earth. Even if the ground were completely made of smooth marble slabs, Komer was confident he could disappear without a trace, but he did not wish to do that yet. He needed to assert the necessary deterrence against his adversary.

A series of Stone Golems formed a circular arrangement around Komer like shadows, tightly enclosing him in their center. His fingers danced through a series of gestures, and he chanted multiple Magic Spells, leaving him somewhat out of breath. The javelins and crossbows, carrying immense force, collided with the magically conjured Stone Golems, causing violent tremors. Several Golems shattered under the relentless barrage of javelins, but new Earth Elemental Giants rose to fill the ranks. It seemed as though the frenzied assault would persist indefinitely, almost as if the enemy intended to exhaust all of Komer’s strength with this method.

Shaking his head slightly, Komer let out a serene smile. This tactic might be effective against other Mages, but it was laughable against him, having just acquired the Power of the Dark Emperor. The enduring Magic power, though not infinite, was more than enough to handle this situation. And Komer had no intention of getting entangled any further.

In Komer’s hands, the seven-string harp sounded with a gentle pluck. The pleasant melody flowed through the hall, unfazed by the javelins and crossbow bolts whizzing by, a divine sound from a Different World.

"Let the storm of wind and thunder rage fiercer, O King of Elements, I require your blessing!" In Komer’s hands, the exquisite and ornate seven-string harp transformed into a versatile Magic Prop. The dazzling colors on the bow coursed through each string, turning into something enigmatic. As the melody dropped to an oppressively low hum, Komer’s nimble fingers raced across the strings, calling forth the rumbling sound of wind and thunder!

"The Wind and Thunder Magic Harp?!" A scream of terror came from the side hall. When Katrina, anxiously, looked at one of her three Mages, his face, ashen as dead gray, trembled uncontrollably, his pupils dilated as if foretelling something.

"What Wind and Thunder Magic Harp?" Katrina shouted in frustration, "That’s nothing but a seven-string harp every Bard possesses. Have you gone mad?"

"No, no, my queen, I swear by the name of the Thunder God, that’s no ordinary seven-string harp, it’s the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp. Look at the black patterns flowing on its strings, each thread is the surge of the Thunder God’s bloodline. Those are signs of Thunder Element Power converging. And those ash-gray clouds, they are the genesis of Wind Element Power, the Wind Spirits are summoning, that is the legendary ancient Divine Artifact, the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp!"

The Mage nearly wailed, his eyes glimmering with madness and excitement, and a touch of despair. As a Mage of Thunder Magic, he certainly would not mistake an artifact regarded as mythical.

Somewhat surprised, Komer glanced at the man, never expecting to meet someone here who could recognize the Divine Artifact in his hand. Indeed, it was the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp; a legendary Magical Instrument from ancient myths, a crystallization of the essence of Wind and Thunder Magic. When it had first emerged from the treasure chamber of Damarlinsk Castle, nobody had recognized its true nature, and Komer himself had initially merely kept it as a fine musical instrument. It was only during an accidental bout of playing that he discovered the harp’s peculiarity and after consulting countless books, did he finally understand the true origin of the Magic Harp.

"Wind Blade!"

Rebry’s signature move was finally unleashed under the boost of the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp, the piercing howl of the wind drowned out the power of the javelins and crossbow bolts. The hall filled with wind edges, spun from the condensed Wind Element, launched at various angles from the center where the Wind and Thunder Magic Harp resided.

Not content with just the burst of Wind Magic, Reno placed his powerful fingers on the strings, and from them erupted the deep sounds of Yin Thunder. Consecutive Sky Thunder Breaks exploded above the heads of the Javelin Throwers and Crossbowmen, and facing the punishment from the gods above, the battle-scarred warriors of the sea could no longer hold their ground and scattered in all directions, except for Katrina, who stood coldly at a distance, glaring at Komer.

The Magic Attacks from the three Mages were ineffective amid the stir of Wind Blade, and it wasn’t until Komer lightly pressed on the strings and relaxed them that the three Mages, who had been struggling against the wind edges, barely avoided embarrassment. The rotating wind blades left no opportunity for the Mages to launch a second attack.

"Miss Katrina, I believe now we can sit down and have a proper talk," Komer said, after a series of magic displays had depleted much of his Mana. The Wind and Thunder Magic Harp, indeed formidable in significantly shortening the time to prepare Magic, demanded a higher amount of Mana, which it consumed greater. He did not wish to reveal all the harp’s finesse; he rather hoped that the Red-haired Witch would calm down and accept his invitation.

Her expression remained cool, but her presence shone brilliantly. It was as if every strand of hair on Katrina’s head radiated magnificent colors. The Stiletto held horizontally gleamed with a light that rivaled the stars, its flickering glow seemed to draw all surrounding brightness to its tip. Her deep, shadowy eyes were in line with the tip of the blade, darkness and light striking an extreme contrast at her wrist, blending into invisibility.

"If I fall at your feet, or you at my sword’s edge, only then do we earn the right to speak," the Red-haired girl uttered coldly, leaving no room for negotiation. Taken aback, Komer felt frustrated, finding the woman’s logic absurd. Must one be defeated by the other to qualify for negotiation? If so, what would be the significance and value of such a discussion?
