Chapter 513: Volume 12: The Blazing Magic Flame, Chapter 4: The Bohemian Knight
More than a dozen assassins, accompanied by the screeching of the Wind Slashing Magic Array stirring to life, seemed to receive a unified command as they changed their form in midair almost simultaneously. Sheathing their swords, rebounding, and tossing, their actions were as urgent as shooting stars. Countless densely packed wasp-tail barbs were thrown forward, scattering among the magic winds and twinkling with flashes of silver light.
Unexpectedly, this group of scoundrels had not given up on striking a deadly blow at the last moment, and Komer felt an exceptional surge of annoyance in his heart.
The opponent’s Wind Magic Array was simply too powerful, and after racking his brain, he could not figure out any way to break through the formidable magic array. The only option was to temporary avoid its sharp edge and wait for the magic array to weaken before striking.
But by doing so, this group of scoundrels would escape without a trace, and where could he possibly find them again? The only possible tactic might be to take the risk and go for it, but firstly, he did not know if the opponents were proficient in EarthGround Magic, and secondly, he was unsure whether his own magic power could sustain such a distant attack.
As if their minds were connected, Lome also seemed to realize Komer’s inner thoughts at this moment. Her body sank slightly, as if shouldering the weight in an instant, her expression becoming extraordinarily serious. She raised her left middle and index fingers towards the sky, placed her right hand over her heart, and began to chant a series of indistinct, unclear words. Seeing Lome’s actions, Komer’s heart trembled slightly. This was the "Angel’s Wings of Light," the most formidable defensive spell in Light Magic.
Generally, magicians would not use such a high-level magic spell, which consumes Yuan Force, unless it was a critical moment. "Angel’s Wings of Light" had a very small protective range, covering only a narrow semi-circular area, barely enough to protect one person from external harm, and required close-range casting. It was commonly used to bolster a magician’s own defenses, but Lome was channeling this spell into Komer instead.
She herself had no choice but to step back slowly and take cover behind Eve to protect herself from the Wind Blades howling in the wind.
A shield of light, shaped like wings, finally shone in front of Komer. Although he was somewhat surprised by Lome’s risky spellcasting, Komer also realized this was his best chance. With a fierce wave of his hand, he cast a blessing on himself with a strange gesture, allowing him to become more agile within the Wind Magic Array. Komer moved nimbly forward, using the Space Magic technique ’Shrinking Ground to an Inch’ to maintain its effectiveness even amidst the Wind Blade Magic Array.
By now, Komer had spotted the three magicians, already packed up and ready to withdraw. The closer he got to the three eagerly departing magicians, the stronger the wind from the Wind Blade Magic Array became. The sky filled with Wind Blades kept grazing past the light shield in front of Komer, emitting strange whistling sounds. Komer could even distinctly feel an odd twisting of the air in front of him each time a Wind Blade skimmed past the light shield.
It was a clash between Wind Magic and Light Magic, neither completely overpowering the other, but Komer knew that for Lome to exert such a strong defensive magic with her current magical strength was already pushing her limits.
Under the activation of a Wind Slashing Magic Array, released by three gigantic Magic Scrolls and blessed by three magicians, nearly every Wind Blade caused the Angel’s Wings of Light to ripple. Especially when nearing the center of the magic array, where more than ten Wind Blades assaulted simultaneously, it put the Angel’s Wings of Light to its most critical test. Under such circumstances, the shield of Light Magic that Lome unleashed with all her might could not last long. Once the Angel’s Wings of Light failed, he would have to face a barrage of magical attacks with no place to hide.
Moving against the wind, Komer knew this was his final opportunity. If he couldn’t deliver a lethal blow now, the opponents might escape, and he would still face even more dangerous Wind Magic attacks.
The Magic Spell that he had been silently reciting in his heart was finally chanted in a series of indistinct and urgent tones, and his fingers continued to shift between hand signs. Earth Magic was known for its solid and stable nature, and as this spell was not Komer’s forte, he had to rely on complex hand gestures to increase the speed of the spell’s activation. He feared that by relying solely on the spell, the enemy might escape the attack radius before the magic could even begin.
A surprise "Eh?" followed, and a massive whirlpool trap of quicksand suddenly formed under the feet of the three magicians, just as they were preparing to rise into the air. The overwhelming suction of the Mudflow Vortex instantly dragged the lower halves of their bodies into it, pulling the fiercely struggling magicians downward, step by step.
Earth Magic was nothing new to the magicians, but using it in such a moment was hugely unexpected for all three.
Breaking through this type of Earth Magic wasn’t very difficult, but it required a considerable amount of magic power. For the Magicians, who had already expended a significant amount of their power in enhancing the Wind Magic Array to its fullest potential, this posed some challenges. However, life was at stake; they had to fight through the difficulties regardless.
At almost the same time, the three of them each employed their own unique protective techniques.
The tall Mage was the first to cast spells on himself in rapid succession, leveraging his already formidable physical strength with two forceful palms against the vortex of mud, catapulting his body upward with a mighty leap. His legs momentarily broke free from the mire, but the immense suction of the mud pool fiercely dragged him down once more. Panicked, he quickly shifted his position in midair to a horizontal stance. No longer able to aid his two companions, he desperately invoked a flying spell, and with the grace of a bird gliding through the air, his large frame soared over ten meters away in an instant.
Before he left, he didn’t forget to send a blessing spell toward his two struggling companions, boosting their stamina. Whether they would escape this predicament was now up to fate.
The White-Turbaned Magician also erupted with power at that moment. After a few futile attempts to struggle free, he abandoned any hope of escaping the muddy vortex through sheer physical effort. As a practitioner of Light Magic, he may not have had any special tactics against this kind of earth-based magic, but that didn’t mean he was helpless.
Realizing his situation, he decided that the only option was to sacrifice some of his Yuan Force to break through the enemy’s Earth Magic shackles forcefully. Without making a resolute decision, he risked being trapped in this quagmire, becoming either a captive of the enemy or a target for the approaching Bohemia Knights – an outcome he was not willing to accept.
A brilliant light burst forth from his body, similar to the Angel’s Wings of Light that Lome had used earlier, both high-level defensive magic spells that consumed a vast amount of magic power but were incredibly powerful. The high-level spell, "Sun God’s Wrath," unleashed by the White-Turbaned Magician was even more potent, albeit with a shorter duration, bordering on a release of Fighting Qi.
The radiant light burst from his body, instantly shattering the mud that had solidly encased his lower half and flinging it asunder. With the loosening of the mud pool, the White-Turbaned Mage didn’t hesitate for a second, soaring into the air, executing a beautiful spiraling maneuver, and floating away, disappearing ten meters away in the blink of an eye.
The Black-robed Magician acted almost simultaneously, employing "Wind Dragon’s Spin," a Wind Magic evasion technique that fused his body with the Wind Element to create a spinning escape. His choice was perhaps superior to the other two Magicians’ methods, as he effortlessly sprang from the mud pit by simply activating the spell. However, his luck was the worst of the three.
When Komer realized the Magicians were all attempting to flee, he quickly added Wood Magic to the mix. Magic Vines burst forth from the mud pit, ensnaring the Black-robed Magician at the very moment he thought he had escaped. A forceful tug dragged him back into the abyss just as he had managed to free himself from the vines using Light Series Magic corrosion. But the moment he escaped, magical mud pillars, transformed into binding mud belts, once again ensnared him tightly.
Though this did not subdue the Mage, his Wind Dragon’s Spin enabled him to escape the mud’s clutches once more. But by then, it was a moment too late.
As several Magic Knights arrived on the scene, Komer wisely showed a cooperative demeanor, standing motionless within the Wind Slashing Magic Array and continuously casting defensive spells to shield himself from the weakening Wind Blades. All offensive magic ceased with the end of Komer’s chanting. The resplendent Magic Knights, both in their dashing flight and their displayed strength, were indeed a spectacle to behold.
Two beautiful pure silver Knight Spears exploded into two enormous silver flowers in midair. The shrill whistling of the Knight Spears careening through the air sent shivers down one’s spine. The two Knights leapt into the sky on their Horses, shaping the shadows of their spears into two formidable Doors, blocking the path of the Black-robed Mage who had just plummeted from the sky, attempting another stunning upward maneuver. The overpowering Fighting Qi emanated by the Knight Spears forced the Mage to retreat, and his backward step cost him his chance of escape.
"Nobody move a muscle! Bohemia Kingdom Court Knights are present. Obey our commands immediately, or face death!" a powerful and nasal voice boomed from behind, clearly indicating that this person was the leader among these Knights. The voice reverberated in all directions, amplified by a Magic Sound Projection, intended to intimidate everyone present.
