Chapter 512: Volume 12: The Burning Demon Flame, Chapter 3: Wind Blade

"Grace, the target is under the eaves thirty meters to the northwest, take them down! Lome, boost Grace’s strength!" Komer didn’t hesitate for a second, silently chanting a spell, and a small cloud of darkness instantly formed in the northwest corner. The rumbling Yin Thunder Sound, as if the Thunder God himself had descended from the heavens, struck a bright arc rapidly tearing through the cloud and hitting the shadows under the eaves in the northwest.

"Damn it! This guy is deliberately trying to draw in the Bohemian Magic Knights!" roared an angry, tall man hiding under the eaves in the northwest corner, "What’s going on? Weren’t there supposed to be just one Priest among them? How come so many Magicians have appeared? Our opponent here is at least on the verge of breaking into the realm of the Archmage."

Another companion, shrouded in a black robe, also wore an expression of surprise. What was thought to be an easy victory had not turned out as expected, the illusion spell had only provided an initial advantage, but their opponent quickly nullified the "Void Illusion." The cold-faced female Mage seemed quite familiar with Light Magic, effortlessly invalidating the spell that had cost him a lot of Mana, leaving the man in the black robe baffled.

It’s true that Light Magic is widely practiced across the Continent, but the spell "Void Illusion" was not known to ordinary Mages, and even those who knew its mysteries might not have a way to counter it. Yet this woman easily broke the spell, effectively putting the Assassins and their enemies on an even playing field under broad daylight, which was fundamentally unfair to the Assassins.

After this battle, they would not know how to negotiate with their organization.

However, the man with his head wrapped in white cloth was impatiently reproaching, "What time do you think it is now, still spouting this nonsense here? Strike hard and fast, no more hesitations, the Bohemians will be here soon if we delay any longer!"

With angry waves of his hands in the air, the tall man’s lips continuously changed shape, his face even twisting somewhat as a series of magical fluctuations disturbed the air around him, causing the atmosphere where his gaze landed to turn cold and oppressive, "King of the Icy Winds, grant your believer power, flash freeze, Ice Blast, arise!"

The entire Battlefield was suddenly engulfed in intense cold. The white mists in the air immediately transitioned into sharp ice prisms and crystals. Grace, having just managed to reach the highest point, almost fell down like a statuesque flight sculpture, frozen in perfect form. Komer was certain if she fell at that angle, Grace’s exquisite body would shatter into countless icy fragments.

"Serpent Dance of the Nine Netherworlds, my heart remains true, Fire Phantom, light up the nine provinces! Go!" A massive Fire Dragon in the sky suddenly expanded into a long serpent several zhang long, rolling and coiling in the air. The great heat instantly revived the unconscious Assassin, who nimbly changed her flight posture mid-air, and like a long sword, she shot straight toward the northwest.

Since Komer had made his move, he had no intention of letting go easily. The enemies dared to unleash large-scale Ice Magic here; he had no reason to hold back out of timidity.

Komer’s "Golden Snake Dance," a Fire Magic spell he had mastered during more than a year of relentless refinement, responded to Komer’s heart and intent as the massive Fire Dragon suddenly lunged forward, rapidly traversing the space between the battling Mages, zooming toward the enemy Mage lurking in the corner’s shadow.

Before the Fire Dragon could reach its target, Grace’s agile figure had already descended into the shadow of the northwest corner. The sharp Stiletto in her hand glittered with a silvery light in the moment of her descent. Even Grace was surprised by the sudden increase in her Fighting Qi, with her blade radiating a glow brighter than usual. Then she realized that the warm power flowing into her from behind was coming from her allied Mage, providing her with strong support.

"Ha!" The three Magicians almost simultaneously released defensive Magic, constructing a Protective Shield that formed an impenetrable barrier. Grace’s strike, like countless sparkling stars, forcefully pierced downward. A piercing screech, like the tearing of silk, erupted as magical forces collided with Fighting Qi.

Grace’s lips, tightly sealed shut, suddenly expelled a mouthful of blood. Blood quickly spilled from her mouth, and the enormous recoil from the barrier’s Protective Shield knocked her upward with a jerk, though her ascent seemed somewhat unsteady.

Grace’s furious strike was not without reward; her physical assault might not have broken the enemy’s magic barrier, but it did create a slight looseness in their magical force field. The Fire Dragon, spurred by Komer’s incantation, suddenly detonated at that moment, turning into numerous small fireballs that spread throughout the area, gently falling like living entities sticking to the Magicians’ Light Barrier.

The convergence of the Light Magic power with the fiery elemental force instantly caused a violent reaction, with a continuous crackling sound filling the air. Fireballs collided repeatedly with the barrier’s magical defense, with countless pillars of fiery mana shooting into the sky.

The three magicians with pale faces had not anticipated that the opponent’s counter-attack would come so swiftly. If the petite Thunder Magic served as an appetizer, then the following Fire Magic was a true feast. The female assassin’s attack had not made much of an impact, but the magician’s "Golden Snake Dance" was a high-quality Fire Magic spell, potent and peerless. The fact that it could even explode at the last moment was proof of the magician’s skilful and effortless control over elemental magic power, especially that of Fire Magic.

Although the Light Magic barrier successfully resisted the impact of the "Golden Snake Dance," it did not mean they could rest easy. It seemed the opponent had yet to exert their full strength, and the complexity of their various magics was enough to cause apprehension. But what was more worrying was that if this continued and the Bohemian Magic Knights arrived, it would spell disaster for everyone.

Thinking this, all three magicians couldn’t help but feel regretful about their hasty ambush, which had only brought trouble rather than achieving their aim and had also put themselves in a difficult situation. The life and death of those assassins were of little concern, but falling into the hands of the Bohemian would bring endless troubles.

They exchanged looks, and almost simultaneously, they began chanting spells. At that moment, three Magic Scrolls unfurled in the wind, and the sky on one side suddenly darkened. A mournful howl filled the air.

"Wind Blade"! The largest Wind System attack Magic Array! Unbelievably, these individuals had compressed it into three Magic Scrolls. The moment they released it, anyone would be forced to retreat in the face of its might, not to mention that they had cast numerous support magics to enhance the power of this Magic Array!

Substantial Wind Blades whistled through the air, their force comparable to that of real blades. Whether it was Grace or the Giant Brianos, or even Havier, who prided himself on his study of Wind Magic, they all struggled to dodge or defend against the myriad of Wind Blades coming from all directions.

The Dwarf champion, Bayezid, crouched down to make his body compact, waving his Phantom Blue Magic Axe into a circle of light that firmly protected his entire body from any opportunistic strikes by the enemy assassins.

In fact, as soon as the opponents unleashed their Wind Magic Array, Komer knew they intended to escape. A vast Magic Array like this is often a sign of lost confidence, prompting a desperate move.

Judging from the current situation, the enemy was incapable of inflicting significant harm. The assassins were merely maintaining a semblance of the upper hand. If Komer himself fully joined the fight, he was confident he could quickly reverse the disadvantage.

The sky full of Wind Blades brought a bone-chilling cold as they surged toward Komer and his group.

Grace, with the help of Lome and Eve, had suppressed her injuries and flown back to their own ranks, panting behind Komer. Eve continued to recite Magic Spells, aiding Grace in stabilizing her condition.

The counteracting force of the enemy’s Magic Array was indeed formidable, almost fully reflecting Grace’s power back at her, causing considerable damage to her body. Coupled with the large wound left by the assassin on Grace’s torso, which had not fully healed, the blow caused the injury to reopen, and blood soaked through her entire lower body.

Facing the powerful Wind Magic Array, Komer also realized it would be difficult to capture those several magicians on his own. It appeared they had made thorough preparations, especially since the Wind Magic Array had emerged from the Magic Scrolls held by the magicians, which was somewhat unbelievable.

Magicians seldom use Magic Scrolls unless they know they are undertaking a task beyond their abilities. But these individuals had obviously been prepared to flee from the start, which suggested their identities were definitely problematic. If they could capture one or two, it would surely unravel the mystery of the Black Rose Mercenary Group’s destruction.

Unfortunately, the sound of hooves in the distance was still several hundred meters away. For magicians intent on escaping, that distance was more than sufficient. They could leave at their leisure, especially now that the "Wind Blade" Magic Array had reached its peak potency. Even Komer himself was temporarily unable to break through the assault of the Magic Array.
