Chapter 502: Volume 11: Misty Cage and Smoke Lock, Chapter 14: Big Zongzi
```
It seemed that the person who had flashed by just a moment ago was indeed a thief. Komer was quite surprised that someone with a considerable level of wind magic would actually be a petty thief.
Thinking back on how the individual had darted past him, a troubling thought suddenly arose in Komer’s mind. Could it be that this person had deliberately brushed by him with the intention of targeting him?
His hand instinctively reached into his bosom, and his heart sank. The bad premonition turned into reality. The detestable thief had managed to lift the items from his possession, and the irony was, he had been amused by another’s misfortune, only to realize his own foolishness for not noticing the theft from right under his nose.
Seeing a slight change in Komer’s expression, Lome beside him immediately sensed that something was amiss and asked softly, "Great sage, is something wrong?"
"Nothing, it’s just that the person from earlier has stolen something from me, the one they were talking about. I didn’t expect that the fellow really had some skill to steal from me without either of us noticing."
Komer was indeed annoyed. Although he and Lome had been completely absorbed in admiring the extraordinary flora, they still retained their basic vigilance. Yet, the elf thief managed to silently take his belongings without a trace.
Fortunately, his Cosmic Bag was always strapped to his waist. Otherwise, if it had been stolen, that would have been a real hassle.
But the item the thief took was still very important. It included a stone tassel taken from Damarlinsk Castle, which was meant to strengthen and solidify one’s spiritual memory during spiritual power cultivation. It was something Komer had prepared for Lome, intending to put it on him at the right time to reinforce Lome’s current spiritual state and further solidify his spiritual power.
An idea suddenly leaped into Komer’s mind. It seemed these fellows had also lost something of great importance. Why not have them help him in the search for the elf thief?
The dwarf warrior they had encountered earlier was a bit verbose, but he made some sense. Prague was huge and, with the magic competition in full swing, finding that individual who intended to avoid them would not be easy. More people meant more eyes to spot the thief, and Komer was confident he could retrieve his belongings from the culprit if discovered.
With this in mind, Komer no longer hesitated, "Please wait a moment," he called to the three.
Komer did not expect his words to provoke such an intense reaction. Almost instantly, the dwarf warrior’s hand axe whistled through the air, charging violently towards him, while the mortal young warrior unsheathed his long sword in an instant, the leaping blade dancing with silver light, flickering unpredictably.
Komer was surprised to see that this young warrior had also surpassed the martial arts level and had entered the realm of martial arts. The glimmering at the tip of the blade was a clear indication that he was on the verge of entering the Fighting Qi Phase. With more time, the young warrior should be able to truly step into that realm, but not just yet. However, this was still impressive; it was rare to see a warrior so young exhibit such prowess.
The neat and delicate young mage’s response surprised Komer even more. Instead of the usual preparations for casting spells, be it reciting a spell or pulling out a Magic Scroll, he had flung open his Mage Robe to reveal a finely crafted stiletto, gleaming as it flashed out. A mage using an assassin’s stiletto?!
This was quite inconceivable.
The stiletto vibrated in midair, casting a fan-shaped shadow that enveloped half of Komer’s body in a mesh of light. The chilling sensation from the sword qi made Komer shiver involuntarily.
This false mage turned out to be an assassin who’d obviously trained in Cold Fighting Energy. There was nothing notable about the blade itself, but assassins specialize in concealing their true strength, caring not for the means or methods as long as they achieve their goal.
Komer’s spiritual sense was sharp enough to detect the tip of the stiletto aiming straight for his throat – a clear intent for a swift and fatal blow.
```
Komer couldn’t imagine what grievance he could possibly have with the other party to warrant such aggressive action. Even if there had been a misunderstanding, was there really a need to attempt murder without so much as a word of inquiry upon first encounter?
Lome was truly angered. She didn’t know why the Great Sage had called out to the other party, but she was certain that the Great Sage had no ill intent in doing so. Yet, the other party chose to respond in such a confrontational and murderous way, which filled Lome with intense humiliation and rage.
It was nothing short of provocation and assassination. Regardless of the reason or potential misunderstanding, a mere mercenary corps daring to attempt to assassinate a noble lord and a great mage in broad daylight was simply an act of seeking out death!
Even before Komer could react, Lome’s hand shot up high. With a graceful flick of her wrist, her pale slender fingers formed a strange gesture in the air. As she whispered a spell under her breath, a huge Light Shield suddenly appeared in front of Komer and Lome. The silver-blue Light Shield burst into a dazzling brilliance.
The "Light Holy Shield" was one of the most complex yet most practical defensive spells among the Light Magic Series. The Shield could change size at the will of the caster, though the larger it grew, the more mana it consumed and the higher the Magic Power needed. Control also became more complex. Lome, however, managed to conjure a Shield large enough to cover both their bodies with just a flick of her wrist, leaving Komer with no choice but to admire her impeccable use of Light Magic.
The giant axe blade whistled through the air, the weapon of choice for the dwarfs.
The surface of the axe was more than twice the size of those typically used by mortals, the sharp edge glistening in silvery-white, clearly revealing that this was not some low-grade, cheap product. At the very least, the silvery sheen indicated a mixture with Magic Metal. A sharp spike protruded from the head of the axe, flickering with a faint blue starlight, and around the spike, one could clearly see strange characters engraved by some method. Even Komer developed an interest in the unassuming dwarf’s weapon.
When the axe collided head-on with the Light Shield, it created intense interface fluctuations, an indication of a fierce small-scale spatial distortion caused by the clash of two kinds of Magic Power. It was clear that there was more than mere physical force at play on the axe blade.
However, the Magic Shield conjured by Lome was not something easily penetrated by ordinary people. The Light Holy Shield, especially against physical impact, demonstrated exceptional resilience. Despite the dwarf grinding his teeth in exertion, to the point where his eyeballs nearly popped out, the axe blade only managed to breach the outermost two layers of force before coming to an abrupt halt.
The young warrior’s long sword was thrust into the Light Shield almost simultaneously, his rudimentary Fighting Qi creating waves of power upon the fierce friction with the Shield, spiraling outwards with a sharp, piercing whine that spread throughout the surrounding area. Even the young warrior could feel the stirring of magical energy.
The young warrior realized the strength of his opponent’s Magic Shield, and in extremely short order, he shifted his stance and angle in an attempt to penetrate the defense of the Light Shield. But clearly, it was in vain. Lome’s Light Holy Shield stood out remarkably, unyielding even under dual assault.
Meanwhile, the Assassin’s stiletto emitted a humming vibration in a very short time, the silver-white Sword Qi flickering inconsistently. In an instant, it mysteriously pierced through a weaker section on the flank of Lome’s Light Holy Shield. Although Lome’s Shield had been weakened under the double attack, it was not something that anyone could penetrate casually. However, this individual managed to accurately find and exploit a weak spot with his thrust, truly befitting an Assassin skilled at delivering fatal blows with keen and swift recognition of the opponent’s vulnerabilities.
When the stiletto pierced through the Light Holy Shield, it collided with the Magic Power and sparked an odd, dazzling light, like a ball of light suddenly bursting open. The Assassin’s wrist flickered ingeniously, creating countless Light Balls and sword flowers, aimed relentlessly at Komer’s chest and abdomen. The massive impact of Fighting Qi made Komer’s and Lome’s clothes flutter as if they were about to take flight.
Komer had been keeping his focus on the unassuming Assassin posing as a Mage all along.
The silver-white Sword Qi indicated that the Assassin’s Fighting Qi was even a level higher than that of the young warrior, and the buzzing vibration was using the huge power from the small-range continuous stabs to tear through the spatial protection energy of the Light Holy Shield, intending to deliver a fatal blow once he broke through. But he had underestimated Komer, who stood behind the Light Shield.
With a casual sidestep, avoiding the direct thrust of the stiletto, Komer smiled slightly, his hands lifting gently. Suddenly, from the ground of the flowerbed in front, two thick vine-like plants shot up without warning, quickly growing to be as thick as arms and several meters long.
Like two sentient pythons, one vine rolled along the ground, tightening firmly around the unprepared Assassin, while the other vine sprang into the air, piercing through the space between the Assassin’s arms with a swift swoop and rotating rapidly in the air. In an instant, it wrapped countless times around the Assassin, who was in mid-leap. The Assassin, almost powerless to resist, fell from the air and landed in an embarrassingly tangled mess, much like a large wrapped dumpling.
