Chapter 501: Volume Eleven: Shrouded in Fog and Smoke Chapter Thirteen: Strange Combination

However, the Church of Light is, after all, the absolute mainstream religious organization in the North of the Continent. Although it cannot monopolize the South the way it does the North, its power is still not to be underestimated, especially since the Kingdom of Bohemia also borders the member states of the Northern Alliance.
The Church of Light can easily exert pressure through the relationships between countries. The Mage Guild might ignore the protests from the Church of Light, but they cannot disregard the advice from the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The Dark Lineage, even in the South, can only openly operate in a few countries. Compared to the Church of Light, their power is far too inferior. Moreover, the mysterious demeanor of the Dark Sects also makes the populace of various countries feel anxious and fearful towards this religion that has been out of the public eye for too long, which is also a major reason why the Dark Sects cannot truly achieve significant development.
In such a situation, choosing to set aside the portrait of Kennifer III might be a wise decision. However, the Mage Guild also fully expressed its dissatisfaction and independence by deliberately retaining the place for Kennifer III’s portrait, and still preserving Kennifer’s full name on the nameplate. This at least informs people that Dark Magic is still a lineage within the entire magical world, and the Mage Guild has not excluded it.
Komer and Lome did not stay at the Mage Guild for too long. To be honest, Komer did not have too much fondness or interest in the Mage Guild. Rather, the stores selling magical instruments next to the Mage Guild were dazzling to Komer and Lome.
From Magic tools to Magic Scrolls, from magic potions to magic materials, from magic toys to Magic weapons, from Magic books to magical armor, the variety was immense, with different sizes and styles.
Some were known for their established brands and long-standing reputation, some for their large scale and extensive inventory, some for their specialization and fine craftsmanship, and some for their superior quality and steep prices. Many of the materials and Items Komer had either never seen or only heard of were now before his eyes for the first time.
The only regret for everyone visiting these stores was having too few Gold Shields in their pouches; otherwise, even if one brought a horse-drawn carriage, it could be filled to the brim and still leave one reluctant to leave.
The magical competition that caught the attention of Komer and his companions was not held by the Mage Guild. It was an official event organized by the Kingdom of Bohemia with the assistance of the Mage Guild, aimed at promoting the prosperity of magic on the Continent while also attracting great Mages to the Kingdom of Bohemia.
The registration for the magic competition was located at the Magic Academy in the Carolinum Palace, originally an alternate palace for the royal family of the Kingdom of Bohemia. However, with the use of the Prague Palace, the Carolinum Palace and Fesselrad Castle gradually became the main buildings for the promotion of magic in the kingdom.
The Carolinum Palace became the core building for the Magic Academy, and Fesselrad Castle became the residence of the Kingdom Court’s Archmage Corps. It housed a large number of Mages from various Sects and clans, with a strength so formidable that it left any country on the Continent trailing in the dust. The Kingdom provided them with extremely favorable living and experimental conditions, which truly warranted the Kingdom of Bohemia’s title as the magic kingdom.
As Komer and Lome walked side by side through the beautiful city of Prague, Komer realized that this city, known as the Magic City, is steeped in Magic breath at every inch of its land. The bronze Statue in the small Square outside the Mage Guild is one of the founders of the Mage Guild―the Great Mage Kraciva of that time, and the numerous statues seen everywhere are mostly from different races and Sects, the great Mages of their times.
The center Street Fountain sparkled with colourful lights and was accompanied by bursts of wondrous music, clearly a mixture of Water Magic and Air magic. In front of the Prague Palace, the garden was lush and verdant, while outside the palace gates, Victory Square was full of blooming flowers and spring vigor.
This seemed a bit odd in the Northern Continent, which had already entered Late Autumn, but it was not surprising. Victory Square and the Prague Palace are like this all year round. This piece of land, after being adjusted with Air magic, could change according to the Mage’s will to whatever scene people desired. Of course, this required a large quantity of Magic Crystals to sustain the consumption of magic power.
For the Kingdom of Bohemia, rich in Magic Crystal mines, this was a mere trifle. The Magic Crystals that were mined continuously every year not only met the needs of the kingdom itself but were also exported in large quantities, bringing in substantial funds for the kingdom.
Just as Komer and Lome strolled through Victory Square, blooming with fragrant flowers like a couple, a figure lightly brushed past Komer. The delicate fragrance made Komer involuntarily glance at the slender figure who disappeared like the wind into the flowers ahead. The person’s chestnut-colored hair with slightly pointed ears surprised Komer.
He did not expect to see an Elf in Prague, and this Elf clearly possessed magical abilities. Judging by the speed at which they moved, their proficiency in Wind Magic was already at a certain level.

Hurried footsteps hastily approached from behind as two warriors clad in light cowhide armor and a person dressed in mage robes caught up from behind, their anxious gazes searching for someone.
The young mage appeared calm, but the two warriors looked absolutely livid, especially the dwarf warrior who was clearly frustrated and resentful, his breath blowing his thick beard all over as he rumbled complaints to his companion.
"Great, it’s all your fault. You wanted to see this damn Magic garden. What’s so good about it? You’re not a woman who likes flowers and grass, and now look what’s happened. If we can’t find that guy, what are we going to eat with!"
"Huh? You have the nerve to say that! There are so many people visiting the garden; why didn’t he steal from someone else, and singled you out instead? Is the word ’fool’ written on your forehead? You had the item on you; you’ve got to remember your responsibility. With that silly look on your face as you entered the garden, not even knowing where to place your eyes, anyone could tell you’re a country bumpkin who’s never seen the world. Now that the item is lost, you’re blaming me."
The warrior with him also erupted in rage as their proof of livelihood was gone. They only intended to visit Prague to experience the city, and now, they wondered how much money and effort it would take to get re-certified.
The dwarf, called a country bumpkin who had never seen the world, turned red-faced and somewhat embarrassed, and his anger quickly deflated.
Indeed, he had never been to such a beautiful and majestic city. Ever since he stepped into Prague, he never felt his eyes were enough to take it all in. Endless novelties everywhere: Wenceslas Street lined with Magic Instrument shops, the luxury and splendor of Smetana Opera House, and the Magic History Museum that drastically broadened his horizons. All of this dazzled him so much that he forgot he was carrying several items crucial for their livelihood.
"Alright, Havier, let’s not blame each other anymore. The item is already lost, we need to figure out how to get it back. This guy seems to be an Elf and he seems to know some magic too. Although there are quite a few Elves in Prague, not many of those who practice magic might be involved in this business. I’m afraid he’s an outsider who drifted here, hoping to make a quick buck during this Magic competition festival. I reckon this guy won’t just stop at this one thing; he’ll continue these tricks, and more people will become his victims. Once the competition is over, he will probably leave, so we need to catch him before that happens," said the young mage walking at the back, calmly calming his two furious companions with methodical analysis, which drew Komer’s attention.
"Bukharin, you make it sound so easy, but Prague is so big. Where do we even start looking for this ghost of a person? We just saw a glimpse of him and then he vanished. He must be an expert in wind magic; I was so close to catching him but suddenly he sped up a lot, and I missed. Even if we find him, we might not be able to capture him. The city is too big with too many people; if we are not careful, he will hide again, and it will be too difficult to find him," said the young warrior called Havier, still ranting and not at all pacified by his companion’s consolation.
"Havier, it’s not like you’re without fault. As soon as you stepped into Prague, you were no different than Bayezid, never having enough eyes - but while he was looking at novelties, you, it seems, never moved off the women. Look at that green gleam in your eyes and your drooling face; I feel ashamed just walking next to you and Havier. Keep blathering here and I’ll make you regret it," the mage, previously seen by Komer as somewhat calm and refined, finally snapped, obviously annoyed by his companion’s endless prattle.
Seeing the young mage’s change of demeanor, the young warrior finally dared not complain aloud and hung his head, muttering under his breath, his eyes still scanning the surroundings.
Komer and Lome were amused by this odd group’s antics. It appeared these three individuals were a small party who came to Prague to witness the excitement of the Magic competition. It looked like they were probably a small mercenary group.
The dwarf was more like a warrior, and the young warrior seemed more like an adventurer. As for the ostensibly gentle but hot-tempered mage, Komer could not sense much magic power coming from him, which he found quite surprising.
