Chapter 442: Volume Nine: The Phantom of the Old Castle Chapter Five: Reconstruction_2
The disposition of the Light Mage was ultimately granted to Komer, after all, it was Komer who was the true master of this land, and his promise to the magicians that he would completely erase all of the Light Mage’s memories and train her as a true believer of Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, had made the magicians quite anticipatory. It sounded like an enormously challenging task, one that neither Rebry nor Mihailovich had the confidence in themselves to achieve, but this young lord seemed full of assurance.
The adventurous return with full rewards caught everyone by surprise, especially Puber and Ilot, who had never expected such considerable gains from this exploration. Though the treasures temporarily borrowed by the magicians and Dark Knights caused Puber great pain, the thought of these magicians staying in the Caucasus for a long time, and possibly even attracting more of their peers to reside, seemed like an acceptable trade.
What made Ilot green with envy was the equipment acquired by the two Dark Knights. Fortunately, among the hidden treasures, there were items suitable for knights other than the Dark Sword forged from Ghostly Sand and the Anti-magic Armor. A Secret Devil Spear with a considerable history, crafted by the Dwarves of the southern Sayan Mountains region, had caught Ilot’s fancy. This spear was forged from iron smelted from Devil’s Iron Ore unique to the region of the Sayan Mountains. Although Devil’s Iron Ore was not Magic Metal, it had some similar comprehensive properties to certain Magic Metals. Weapons forged from this iron could effectively combine with the user’s own Fighting Qi, maximizing the capabilities of the Fighting Qi. Although it couldn’t enhance the power of Fighting Qi as many imagined, even a tiny improvement in combat could sometimes be the critical factor in deciding the outcome. Therefore, weapons made from this region’s Iron Ore had always been a favorite of many knights and warriors.
It was just unfortunate that the Sayan Mountains region, with its high peaks and perilous waters, had difficult access, and the Iron Mines producing Devil’s Iron Ore were low yielding, mostly poor Iron Mines with numerous impurities, making smelting and refining challenging. Moreover, the easily exploitable mines had been exhausted one hundred years ago, and although many prospectors were still searching in the region, there had been little progress. In fact, this type of Iron Ore was already in a state of ceased production. Consequently, this had driven the price of weapons forged from this kind of Devil’s Iron Ore to soar on the high-level weapons Market, and they were consistently in a state of demand exceeding supply.
The Secret Devil Spear was an excellent weapon forged from this type of Devil’s Iron Ore by the Dwarves. Although it wasn’t as precious as the Dark Sword cast from Ghostly Sand, this unusually steady and heavy weapon seemed more suitable for Ilot, who had already made significant progress in Martial Arts. Especially for charging on the Battlefield, this type of weapon was much more useful than those smaller ones meant for personal duels. Having acquired such a splendid piece, Ilot was completely content; to him, it seemed like a weapon custom-made just for his use.
Within the dim Practice Room, a faint glow slowly rose. Komer watched with interest the Light Mage still firmly locked by the triple Dark Binding, her once defiant and resentful expression had gradually faded, but the determination in her eyes told Komer that this woman wasn’t as easy to deal with as he had imagined.
Moving her slightly stiff body, the Girl made no other movements, knowing that until the other party unlocked the Dark Binding that had deeply penetrated her body, she was no different from any ordinary girl. In such a place, resistance was undoubtedly futile and unwise; it was better to stay calm and composed, perhaps then there might be a chance to turn things around.
Seeing the Girl calmly sorting out her clothes and disregarding him, Komer found it increasingly interesting. He was always intrigued by the challenges, and this woman was undoubtedly an expert specially trained by the Church of Light – her composure in such a situation was sufficient proof. This piqued Komer’s intense interest even more.
"Please, take a seat, Miss Lome, if you wish." Lifting his hand, Komer displayed gentlemanly courtesy to a strong opponent. He was keen to understand the true identity of this woman and her purpose here. Of course, he also wished to learn about the internal power structures and workings of the vast Church of Light through her, although this would be challenging.
Glancing briefly at Komer, the Girl didn’t seem to realize his malevolence and accepted the offer to sit. "Your Excellency, please refrain from asking questions that are a waste of breath. I will not provide any answers, so you need not say more. However, if you wish to discuss matters of faith with me, I would be more than willing to accompany you," she replied composedly.
Before Komer could speak, the Girl preemptively blocked his intentions, but what she added at the end intrigued Komer greatly. Nodding and smiling, Komer said, "Very well, since Miss Lome is willing to give me an opportunity to discuss, or rather, enlighten me on matters of faith, I am also very willing to engage in this exchange with Miss Lome. You need not have any reservations, Miss Lome. Speak freely, I am all ears, and should you require an explanation or a response from me, please feel free to instruct me."
