Chapter 338: Volume 6: Fortified at Every Step, Chapter 3: Slaughter the Demon (1)_2

"No, according to what I know, Ogres, unlike other Magical Beasts, seldom relocate once they choose a habitat, unless they encounter natural enemies. In general, they do not migrate," Komer shook his head gravely. The sudden surge in his Dark Arts abilities had dramatically enhanced his Spiritual Sense. With the aid of Perception Magic, he had already sensed the presence of Magical Beasts nearby. While Komer couldn’t be sure they were Ogres, he was certain they weren’t common small Warcraft, "I’ve already sensed their presence, though it seems they’re not near us at the moment. We must thoroughly search the area."

Komer’s words sent a shiver through Ylot, alerting him immediately. The last time, he had escaped by relying on a Magic Scroll, and before setting out this time, Ylot had specifically asked Komer to make him several powerful and convenient traditional Magic Scrolls. He hoped that if he were attacked again and could not withstand it, such reasonably priced Magic Scrolls would once again help him escape unscathed. He was becoming more and more confident in his Boss. When Komer carefully handed over three Scroll Magic Scrolls to him, Ylot meticulously placed the scrolls at his waist and on the outer side of his thigh, so he could unleash the scrolls’ magic as quickly as possible, as he certainly did not want to gamble with his life when facing Highly Dangerous High-Degree Warcraft like the Ogre.

Slipping through the gaps in the bushes, Komer and Ylot moved swiftly along the easily concealed region of the mountain waist. For Komer, this was the most dangerous area, where Magical Beasts could easily use their traits to conceal themselves and lie in wait to launch attacks on these foreign intruders. In such cases, the possibility of being killed in one blow was significant. Komer’s continuous casting of Perception Magic had already made him aware that a Magical Beast was lurking nearby.

Choosing a relatively flat area to prepare for battle, Komer unconsciously took a deep breath. Ogres were different from Gray Wolves; they belonged to High-Degree Warcraft and possessed considerable intelligence. They were able to judge their own situation and choose their method of attack. Such intelligent Magical Beasts were even more dangerous than some large Magical Beasts that relied purely on brute strength, especially since they were social creatures. Once they launched an attack, it was likely to be a fight to the death.

Sensing four entities exuding dense Magic Power stealthily approaching from the left flank and closing in to less than fifty meters from their position, Komer tightened the Close-fitting Armor he wore, despite it being stripped from a Corpse and uncomfortable to think about. However, for the sake of survival, Komer didn’t care too much about that. His small-scale Perception Magic, combined with his already quite sharp Spiritual Sense, allowed him to discern the precise locations of Demons within a hundred-meter radius. If the people of the Magic World on the Continent knew of this, who knew how many Mages who had long toiled in the study of Psychic Magic would lose sleep.

The Demons had now closed in to just outside thirty meters, a very dangerous distance. Komer cast the Light Shield Protection Spell on Ylot, who stood in front of him. It was a defensive spell that, although consuming a considerable amount of Magic Power with each casting and having a short duration, could significantly enhance the body’s Protective Ability for a brief period—affecting protection similar to a knight’s Fighting Qi, but not as lasting.

Felling his body warm up and experiencing a sense of buoyancy, Ylot knew danger was imminent; his Boss was reinforcing his defenses, clearly indicating that the threat was close. Taking a deep breath, he slightly withdrew his right leg, adopting a defensive stance ready for action. His gaze was frontward, his attention peaked, and the Great Sword with its faintly glowing blade was already unsheathed, its edge chilling to the touch, even bearing engraved spells around the blood groove, etched with a specialized technique. This, too, was Komer’s doing. Although Ylot was physically robust, the Great Sword was too long, lacking in agility, and heavy. To reduce the exertion Ylot faced in combat and to quicken the sword’s attack speed, Komer had specifically inscribed an obscure corrosion branding spell from the Dark Divine Technique on the sword, soon after arriving in Bahomon. This spell, a long-lost Combat Acceleration Spell from the ancient Dark Empire court, was capable of sustaining its effect for a whole week, and according to the proud self-proclamations of Kennifer III in his nightmares, no one on the Blue Continent knew of this auxiliary acceleration magic anymore.

Four demon creatures filled with a heavy magic aura stopped their approach when they were less than twenty-five meters away from Komer and Ilot. Komer and Ilot could even see with their naked eyes the barely moving branches in the bushes; the magical beasts seemed to have sensed the strong hostility emanating from Komer and his group and were judging what kind of targets they were facing.

The two sides remained in a standoff, with the four demons slowly dividing into two groups at a distance of twenty-five meters. Their pace gradually slowed down, and it was clear that these intelligent creatures had noticed that the two hostile targets they were facing were different from the usual prey they encountered, especially since they could sense an aura from them that invoked fear.

Komer inwardly groaned as his Spiritual Sense detected two larger demons stealthily moving towards them, while the other two continued to advance slowly. It seemed these demons also understood the strategy of dividing their forces, a fortunate consequence of having chosen a location with flat and open terrain that allowed them to clearly see the enemy’s movements in advance. Otherwise, relying solely on Spiritual Sense, the enemy could easily launch an attack from the bushes and make it difficult for them to respond in time.

The heavy breathing sounds, "huff puff huff puff," finally revealed two figures nearly three meters tall in front of Ilot and Komer. This was Komer’s first encounter with such terrifying magical beasts. He deduced that the two creatures with giant breasts hanging from their chests were female ogres, judging by the basketball-sized heads covered in foot-long hair, except for the facial area which was a bit sparser, making it just possible to discern their facial features. Their egg-sized eyeballs flashed with purple-red light, casting a sinister gaze upon the duo.

A series of pimple-like bumps sat atop their flat noses, and a mouth the size of a washbasin took up half of the face, with large fangs protruding from the corners, closely resembling miniatures of elephant tusks. Their arms, longer than their knees, were thick and powerful, with sharp nails on their fingers that seemed to still bear faint traces of blood. Komer could even clearly see the gland bags under their armpits, a rare vulnerability on the ogre’s body from which a nauseating stench was emitted. Komer had already reminded Ilot that when attacking, they should aim to avoid the front and attack this vulnerability from the side as it was the easiest target during combat.

Without a moment to spare, Komer gently chanted as his left index finger slightly curled towards his thumb, forming a circle at the center of which the space began to twist bizarrely. Striking first had always been Komer’s principle. Before the two ogres in front could react, two lightning arcs flashed through the air and slammed down with a thunderous roar. This was the most basic and practical thunder-based magic—Sky Thunder Break. Anyone with the level of a Magician possessed the power to cast this spell, which was particularly lethal against enemies with strong protective abilities. This was also Komer’s opening attack wave, aimed at testing the ogres’ defensive power.

Like the sky being torn apart, a huge explosion thundered above the ogres’ heads. The magic, having drawn upon the elements of thunder from the sky, delivered a massive impact that nearly knocked the two ogres, likely encountering such an attack for the first time, off balance. However, ogres are ogres, after all. Although a Sky Thunder Break had given them a sudden blow, it did not cause any substantial damage. Their tough skin, naturally resistant to magic, could strongly fend off such conventional magic attacks. The blast did not intimidate them but instead immediately ignited a towering rage within the two ogres.
