Chapter 1032: Volume 33, Where to Go, Chapter 20, The Battle that Sways the City (3)
If Komer still harbored conflicting emotions about the impending battle, Uma, on the other hand, eagerly anticipated its arrival.
A combined effort of the Windriding Knights and the Religious Court?
For Uma, who had long dwelled in the Dark World, such a proposition was nothing short of a blessing. She would never forget why she had been confined in Damarlinsk Castle’s gloomy depths for three hundred years—subjected to the Church of Light’s impositions. Every moment, she craved revenge a hundredfold.
However, Komer’s earlier strategic choice of a forbearing approach forced Uma to restrain her vengeful desires, while her true form had not yet found a more suitable vessel, further limiting her freedom to act.
But now, none of this seemed to matter anymore. Iliana’s body had been almost entirely saturated by Uma’s dark original force. Except for a sliver of purity, her entire physical form had morphed into a Dark Magic Body. Moreover, the Holy Light Power that Iliana’s body originally harbored was corrupted by the dark force, creating a bizarre power that exhibited both the corrosive nature of darkness and the penetrative advancements of light, making it particularly effective against common forms of Elemental Magic.
With this new body, the joy in Uma’s heart was indescribable. Although Komer warned her that she might never erode that bit of purity, Uma did not believe his caution—she had plenty of time.
She could also feel that the trace of Light within her was almost entirely dormant; no external temptations could reignite it. Uma even had Saintess Lome deliberately subject her to Light Recovery Magic to observe any change in that trace of light—but still, it remained silent.
After confirming this outcome, Uma’s heart truly settled. Now, with the Church of Light presenting such an opportunity, how could she let it pass by? Especially at Damarlinsk Castle, her home ground, where she had every reason and power to give these haughty hypocrites a true baptism and let them experience the might of the followers of the God of Darkness to control this world.
Of course, preparations were necessary before this. The Windriding Knights were already renowned throughout the Continent three hundred years ago. Back then, not only were they the vanguard in combating demons but also the foremost executioners of the Dark Lineage. With the Church in its glory for three hundred years, one could only imagine how the power of the Windriding Knights had developed—any slack or oversight might lead to catastrophe. Uma hoped that Komer wouldn’t make the same mistakes as Kennifer III had in the past, and she herself was determined not to repeat history.
Gazing at the dim passage, which was soaked with her tears and sweat, she had wandered aimlessly here for three hundred years; at this moment, Uma’s spirit suddenly found peace. Although lonely, this place always provided a sense of secure tranquility, a relaxing haven—it was her true home, and now, it was time for her to wield all this power to protect everything.
It was time to unlock this Underground World. Uma’s gaze swept over every space as she knew exactly what each dark ban concealed. Beyond various ancient dark and Undead Magic, many spaces hid uncontrollable foreign magical beasts. Over the centuries, most of these beasts had perished, yet the souls of the high-level magical beasts had transformed into ethereal entities under special restrictive conditions—what were known as Undead Magical Beasts!
It was only in the past few decades that Uma slowly uncovered the mystery behind controlling these Undead Magical Beasts, yet she had little interest in mastering them, activating the bans of just two spaces and refining two ethereal magical beasts—One-spiked Flying Dragon and Demon Ape—when she felt utterly bored.
Although she had refined two magical beasts, her ethereal form had not yet obtained the original entity, so largely, these creatures could only move within the dungeons of Damarlinsk Castle. Should they leave the underground, Uma was uncertain if she could fully control these formidable creatures.
But now, all those restrictions no longer existed. Uma, having acquired Iliana’s body, no longer needed to worry about her own power. She could even use dark magic power to nourish the two ethereal magical beasts, allowing their intellectual and spiritual power to recover and enhance, aiming to reach a higher level.
A cerulean, eerie spell streaked through the dark space, a vague fluctuation emerged silently from the darkness, a sign that space was being opened. Uma quietly awaited.
The long-sealed space was opened again. What would be released, a demon or an angel?
A greyish-white light shadow swept out, suddenly stopping in midair just three meters away from Uma, hovering without any superfluous movements. Its dark gaze fixed on Uma, seemingly discerning something. After a long while, the peculiar flying dragon vanished in a flash, disappearing into the darkness.
Uma let out a sigh of relief. It seemed that despite decades, the ethereal flying dragon hadn’t forgotten her; once an undead brand was embedded in its soul, it would follow her forever.
The heavy footsteps sounded somewhat sluggish, but if you listened carefully, you would find that the frequency of the footsteps became faster and lighter, eventually transforming into a heavy, soundless strangeness.
A three-meter-tall, fur-covered giant ape appeared at the end of the passage. Its dull and malevolent gaze didn’t seem entirely awake from the darkness of slumber. Its over-knee hands and slightly bent legs, along with a thick and long ridged tail, and its bared white teeth along with the crimson gums appeared as though it was savoring the taste of freedom.
Demon Ape.
The Demon Ape became unusually agile upon spotting its target. Almost in a flash, using its limbs, it was already crouching in front of Uma, its ferocious face suddenly appearing in front of her, causing Uma to feel a bout of nausea.
The massive body of the Demon Ape shook violently, as if it suddenly perceived the familiar scent of the target in front of it. Its dull, fierce gaze softened. Uma lightly tapped her finger, and a black light mist penetrated the brain of the Demon Ape. Its body trembled again, but its gaze became clearer, even somewhat close to human.
Good, Uma inwardly sighed in relief, all set!
