Chapter 661. Relieved

Chapter 661: 661. Relieved

Jael entered the bedroom and was promptly followed by Mill, who held a light. Jael crossed the room to where Mauve sat and stopped in front of her. "Mauve," he called her name.

Mauve looked up at Jael, and the memories of two nights ago flooded her mind. She could vaguely remember waking to scold Louis and then falling back asleep. However, it was the incidents from two nights ago that made her bury her face in her palms.

"Are you okay?" Jael asked, stopping in front of her.

Mauve nodded but didn’t pull her hands away from her face. What was wrong with her? She couldn’t believe she had done that.

"Mill said you can barely remember what happened the last couple of days and you don’t think you’ve slept for that long?"

Mauve paused, trying to figure out how to answer. She could pretend she couldn’t remember, but she doubted she could keep that up for long. There was also the fact that what she had done was very concerning, and she probably needed to figure out what had happened to her at the time.

"Well, that’s true," she replied, her hands muffling her words.

"Are you okay?" he repeated, and without waiting for her response, Jael peeled her palms off her face, forcing her to look at him.

Her expression was enough to give her away, and Jael asked, "You remember?"

Mauve slowly nodded, and Jael’s expression changed from stern to relief. He lifted her up by the shoulders and wrapped her in a bear hug. "I was so worried."

Mauve felt Jael crush her, and she leaned into him, his arms around her felt so nice and it was easy to give in. He pulled her away and stared hard at her as if to make sure he didn’t miss anything. Mauve found this funny and started laughing.

"I am good, really," she said. "Though I still find it a little hard to believe I was asleep for that long."

"Nothing feels out of place?" he asked.

She shook her head. "I feel just fine. Well, maybe a little hungry. It feels as though I haven’t eaten in years. My stomach is the only reason I can believe I was asleep most of yesterday."

"Mill," Jael turned his head in her direction. "Get her food."

"Already made the order, Sire. They should be bringing it up for her right now, and any minute from now, the servant will be here with her bathwater. Her Mauve should be here by the time she is ready."

"Okay," Jael said and dropped onto her bed, pulling her onto his lap.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Waiting," he replied.

"For?" she asked as she sat across his legs and stared up at him. She wanted to ask more questions about two nights ago, but she knew there was no way she could do that with Mill in the room. She would have to ask at a later time when they had more privacy.

"You," he said with a smile and ruffled her hair.

"Don’t do that," she said, glaring at him while Mill moved from where she stood with the light and placed it on the bedside table.

Mauve paused as she realized Jael looked a little different. "Are you okay?" Now it was her turn to ask that and immediately touched his face.

His expression changed for a moment, and then he placed his palm on top of hers and said, "I am fine."

"Is it just me, or have you lost weight?" she asked as she looked closer. "Did something happen while I was asleep?"

Jael smirked at her and shook his head. "I am fine, really. I have just been very stressed because you didn’t wake up. I was really worried."

Mauve narrowed her eyes but didn’t press the matter. He also looked like he hadn’t been getting much sleep. His response made some sense, but she couldn’t help but be a little suspicious about it. She leaned her head against him as she waited for her water to arrive.

Mill helped her wash up as soon as her water arrived. Jael just sat on the bed the whole time watching. She did her best to not make eye contact with him and was out of the tub and dressed in no time. Her first meal was hearty; the tray was literally filled with everything, and she tried to force Jael to eat with her.

"No, this is for you. You should eat first."

Mauve gave him a stern look. "You look like you need it more than me," she responded.

"That’s not true. I have had more meals than you have in the past few days. You’re the one who needs to eat."

Mauve didn’t argue again. She just picked a spoonful of food and shoved it into his mouth. He didn’t resist, and Jael seemed more than happy to accept the food from her hands.

"You see," she said, turning back to her food. "You’re hungry."

"If I had known you were going to feed me like this, I would have agreed immediately," he grinned, his eyes filled with excitement.

"Don’t get the wrong idea," she said, offering him some food again.

He looked as if he wanted to accept it but immediately declined, "You should eat. You need it more than I do."

"There is more than enough to go around," she mumbled, bringing the spoon closer to his lips again, and Jael happily accepted. She smiled brightly at him and ate some herself.

"Would you like me to feed you?" he asked.

"No!" she said stubbornly as she ate.

"Why not?" Jael asked, distraught.

She glanced at him, "If you can do that, feed yourself."

"That’s no fun," he smirked.

"Jael!" she scolded and was about to say more when a knock came at the door of her bedroom.

"Who is that?" she asked with a frown. She didn’t think it was Mill, as the maid had just left her a few minutes ago.

"Ignore it," Jael said.
