The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 609. Landing Pad
Chapter 609: 609. Landing Pad
"I’ve missed the taste of your blood," he replied as he kept licking, letting not even a drop of blood go to waste.
His fangs had shrunk but Mauve could still feel how rigid he was with her legs around his waist, and for a while, she entertained the idea that he wasn’t the only one whose thirst was getting satiated. But it quickly came crashing down when Jael pulled away and disentangled her legs from his waist.
"How do you feel?" he asked, peering at her face more than he needed to. She knew he was making sure he didn’t overdo it, but she wasn’t so weak that a mere sip would have that effect.
"I am fine, and I am really happy you told me you wanted to feed."
"You are?" He asked.
"Yeah, don’t act like you don’t know."
"Surely, it must be a nuisance that I constantly need to feed off you. It should bother you."
"Bother me?" She asked. "No, of course not. I wish you had done this sooner." She glued her eyes to his chest, she didn’t think she could meet his eyes after saying those words.
He carefully lifted her head so she had no choice but to look into his eyes. "Are you saying you like it when I drink your blood?"
His eyes glowed slightly as he looked at her, the undertones of his words were hard to miss.
"Don’t say it like that," she scolded.
"But you do?" He rephrased the question.
"I don’t hate it," she mumbled reluctantly.
He smirked, "That’s not the same thing, Mauve, but I won’t push. I am glad." He lightly caressed her chin.
Mauve forced her chin out of his palm. "Okay," she said. "Do you have any more plans for the day?" She needed to change the subject.
Jael thought about it for a while. "Not until after the second meal. So don’t worry, you have me all to yourself."
She smacked his chest, "I wasn’t worried about that."
"Well, that’s disappointing. I had assumed you’d treat this like it was the best news you’ve ever heard. I guess I might have to fill up my schedule again."
"Don’t you dare," she threatened.
"I thought you said you were worried," he smirked.
"Jael," she cried.
"I was teasing," he responded and moved closer. He tucked a stubborn lock of hair behind her ear. "You’re easy to tease."
"I beg to disagree. You’re the one who won’t stop teasing me," she refuted.
"That’s why I said you are easy to tease. If you weren’t so easy, maybe I’d tease you less."
Mauve moved backward. "Oh, you’re saying this is my fault?" She asked. "You’re blaming me."
Jael shrugged, "If the shoe fits, you can definitely put them on."
Mauve glared at him, but the glint in his eyes and the smirk on his lips quickly softened her gaze, and she was smiling before she knew it.
He kissed her forehead. "I try to spend more time with you, I know you miss me."
"I didn’t say that, but yes, I’ll like that very much."
"Look at you being all agreeable."
She glared at him. "I was thinking of going to the garden now but decided against it since I would have to go by dawn," she suddenly said.
"Oh," Jael replied, his countenance changing.
"Yeah, I have to check on the plants, but since I would have to stay there for a while, it would be best to have something to do while I wait," she mumbled.
"I suppose," he replied. "But you won’t go alone."
"I won’t?" She asked in surprise. "Why are you coming with me?" She chuckled, but Jael didn’t seem to find that amusing. She pouted a little, annoyed that he could tease her but tended to take things a little too seriously.
"Jean will be coming with you. I still don’t trust the entire process, so it’s best if he is there to watch every step and do something if it’s going wrong," he responded.
"You hardly trust anything," she grumbled.
"That’s not true," he replied. "I trust everything you say with my life."
"What if I lie to you?" She asked.
"Now why would you do that?" He asked.
"I might have some reasons to lie," she responded.
"I doubt that," he said with a straight face.
"Maybe not lie," she said, knowing she couldn’t fully lie to him. "But I might be keeping something from you."
"I would have found out by now," he replied confidently. "There is absolutely nothing about you I don’t have an inkling about."
Mauve felt a tepid feeling in her spine. Jael sounded pretty confident about this, and she couldn’t help but wonder. There was really only one thing she was keeping from him. Surely, he wouldn’t be okay with it if he knew about Louis teaching her magic.
Jael chuckled, "You don’t have to look so horrified; one would think you were keeping something from me."
"Well, I don’t want you to know everything," she pouted. "I’d like to keep my secrets."
"But we are married, there should be no secrets between us."
"That’s rich coming from you," she giggled.
"Well, I did tell you eventually."
"Are you saying it’s fine as long as eventually I tell you?" She asked.
"Yes," he said very seriously.
"Oh," she replied.
"I might be impatient, but I am not that impatient, and I am willing to wait for you to tell me in your own time if you do have secrets."
He was annoying, and most times he did things that got on her nerves, but in moments like this, she could clearly see how much he cared about her.
"Besides, it would be hypocritical of me to suggest otherwise. I trust you, and when I keep things from you, it’s not because I don’t trust that you can handle it; rather, I want to keep you from as much pain as I can, even though I know you can handle it," he said.
Mauve nodded as the words clogged in her throat. He closed the gap between them, and for a second, she thought he was about to kiss her. Instead, he lifted her off the table. She wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck.
"What’s going on?" She asked with sparkling eyes.
"You’ll see," he said and started walking towards the door.
"You know I can walk, right?" She asked him while looking at his face.
"So?"
"You can’t even see where you’re going if you carry me like this?"
"So?"
"Jael, be serious."
"I am," he responded.
"We could fall," she mumbled.
"Do you really think that’s possible?" He asked, holding her gaze.
"No, we don’t know this," she grinned at him. "I don’t want you to get injured."
"Don’t worry about me," he smirked. "I heal fast, and if we fall, you can always use me as a landing pad."
"But what if we fall forward?"
"Not possible," he said, leaving no room for argument.
"That’s very possible," she responded.
Jael shook his head, and Mauve laughed. She was still laughing when they left the library.
