Chapter 579. Appealing

Chapter 579: 579. Appealing

Mauve opened her eyes and the first thing she noticed was there was no trace of a headache. She sat up immediately and the force of sitting up didn’t make her head spin.

Mauve smiled, touching her face, and realized her temperature was back to normal. She touched her face some more just to be sure.

"Someone woke up pretty active." She heard Jael’s voice and turned to see he was seated in the corner of the room staring at her.

"Jael," she cried and tried to get out of bed.

He stretched out his hand, "Stop," he said as he stood up and slowly started to walk toward her.

He stopped beside her and she moved to the side a little, making enough space for him to sit next to her.

"How do you feel?" He asked.

"Peachy," she replied with a grin and stretched her hand. "That was fast, I didn’t think I would feel this better after a nap."

"That’s good," he replied as his eyes rested on the patch on her arm.

Mauve’s eyes followed him and she noticed it wasn’t alone anymore, in fact, it had spread a little more. There were more patches than she could count at a glance.

She looked at her other hand and it was pretty much the same thing. Mauve swallowed she didn’t want to imagine what the state was under her clothes.

She might feel better but if it was spreading this fast then there was still a high chance she was going to fall sick again.

"Did Jean tell you what was wrong with me? Did he say what he thinks the illness is?"

Jael shook his head, "He doesn’t know."

"Are you serious? I do think it is the White Disease though?" She said and hugged herself before resting again Jael.

"I mentioned that," Jael said. "However, he said the symptoms may be similar but there are very obvious differences."

"Such as?" Mauve asked.

"The patches are spreading too fast. According to him, it should take at least two months to notice another white patch but yours was already spreading exponentially by the next night. He also said the fever came in the wrong order."

"What does that mean?" She asked, still leaning into him.

"You get the patches first before the fever but yours came in reverse," Jael explained.

"Oh yeah, that is correct."

"Exactly."

"So he thinks it’s not the White Disease because of these reasons."

"Yes," Jael replied.

"Then what could it be?" She asked with a heavy voice.

It could be something even worse for all she knew and maybe this might kill her faster. She shook her head. She didn’t like where her thoughts were going.

"Don’t think about it. Jean is here and he will make sure you’re fine. Whatever, he might need to do to ensure you get better, I have asked him to do it."

"Thank you," she whispered against his back.

Jael pulled back and turned so he could face her. He pulled her into his arms and held onto her.

"You will get better, I am sure you will."

That makes one of us, she thought but didn’t say this out loud. There was no reason to voice out her negative thoughts.

If Jael was positive it would turn out alright in the end then she was willing to believe that. What else did she have to lose?

"Do you think your appetite is back? You haven’t been eating properly recently and you’re as light as a paper."

"I haven’t lost that much weight," she protested.

He pulled back so he could look down on her face. "You have lost weight. I miss watching you stuff your face with food."

"That does sound very appealing," she complained.

"You’d be surprised," he whispered. "Everything you do is appealing to me."He kissed the top of her head and she giggled.

"Even when I do this?" She asked while attempting to bite him.

"What are you doing?" He asked while laughing.

"Trying to eat you," she giggled.

"I’ll let you do that."

"You shouldn’t," she said in horror.

"Well, if you were starving and the only option for you to survive would be to eat..."

"Stop!" She cried. "Don’t you dare complete that line of thought? I am not going to eat you, no matter the circumstance. Ugh!"

Jael laughed, "You don’t need to look so horrified. I assure you I am very tasty, you’ll find a meal made from me very appealing."

"Thank you for your kind offer, sir but I’d rather not eat again than do that. Enough about eating you."

"But you started it. I was joking," she replied.

"I was serious!"

"I know and that’s what’s concerning."

"I drink your blood all the time, you should be able to eat me."

"Oh no, Jael please drop the subject before you ruin my appetite and it’s not the same thing."

"Are you hungry then?" He asked.

As though her stomach had been listening to the conversation, it let out a loud sound.

Jael laughed. "That definitely answers my question. Let’s get you something to eat. It should be time for the last meal any minute from now. We can eat together in my room."

"Would it be too much if I ask to eat in the dining hall?" Mauve asked.

She has been cooped up inside the rooms for too long. The past few days she has only seen the inside of her room and Jael’s room. She was sure stepping out for a bit would be helpful.

Jael looked at her with a shocked expression and she could see the deliberation in his eyes. A huge part of her was worried he would say no.

She held her breath as she waited for his response. Her stomach was tight with anxiety.

Jael sighed and looked down. "Fine but I only if Jean says it is alright."

"Thank you," she cried and jumped on him.

"Careful, you aren’t fully healed yet." Mauve thought his tone sounded sad.
