Chapter 568. White Patch

Chapter 568: 568. White Patch

Jael held onto her until she threw up everything she had eaten in the last thirty minutes. She hacked until her stomach was empty and there was practically nothing to throw up anymore.

Mauve hated the burning sensation that went up her throat as a result. The taste of bile and vomit in her mouth was enough to make her want to throw up again.

"You’re done?" Jael asked, his voice soft and filled with nothing but worry.

Mauve nodded and Jael pulled her backward. He arranged her so she could rest her back against the headboard.

"I am sorry," she whispered. "I ruined your carpet."

"Don’t worry about it," Jael said, taking his shirt off. "I can get that cleaned up."

"But it will a stain and a smell," her lips turned downwards, and her eyes looked like it was hard for her to focus.

"Then I will get another one."

He used his shirt to wipe the corners of her mouth, cleaning the mess that ran down her face.

"No," she shook her head trying to stop him with her hands but they felt too heavy to lift. "I have ruined your shirt too."

"That should be the least of your worries. How do you feel?" He asked, pulling his shirt away as he wiped it. He handed it to Mill and she quickly accepted.

"Nauseous," she replied, turning her head left and right.

"Do you still want to throw up?" He asked.

"I don’t think there is anything left to throw up," she mumbled.

"I see." He turned to Mill, "Could you take her to her room and clean her up? I will inform Kieran and get someone to clean this."

"Of course," Mill said and crossed to where Mauve sat.

Mill carefully evaded the green blob on the carpet and scooped Mauve into her arms.

Mauve’s limbs slumped, she didn’t even have any energy to try to adjust herself. Maybe, it was because she just threw up but she shouldn’t feel this weak.

"Sorry, Mauve. I will get you all cleaned up," Mill whispered.

Mauve nodded and Mill carried her to the connecting door. Opening it with Mauve in her arms, she went out the door without any hesitation.

The bath had already been brought in and Mill walked towards it and stood right beside it.

"Do you think you can stand for a few seconds? I need to take your dress off." Mill asked, she looked like if there was another way to take Mauve’s clothes off, she would have considered it.

Mauve nodded and Mill dropped her to the ground. Mill helped Mauve out of her clothes while holding her through the entire time.

"Your temperature is so high that your clothes feel like it was left out in the sun for too long."

"Are you hungry for some eggs?" Mauve chuckled. "Bet you can fry one on my skin right now."

Mill laughed, "I wouldn’t be surprised."

She helped her into the tub. Mauve closed her eyes as her feet touched the warm water. It was very soothing.

"How do you feel?" Mill asked as she washed Mauve’s back while she sat down in the half-filled tub.

"Awful, my mouth tastes like bird poo. I don’t know what it would taste like but I assume it will be similar to this," her voice was soft as she spoke and it sounded as though it took effort to speak.

Mauve shivered slightly knowing she would have thrown up again if there was anything left in her stomach.

Mill finished with her back and Mauve put all her weight on the side of the tub. Her headache was better but now she was just tired. Her limbs felt weak but the worst of them was the sickening feeling in her stomach, her throat, and to the tip of her tongue.

"Sorry, I really hope you get better soon," Mill said.

"Thank you," Mauve replied. "And I am sorry about the mess I made on the carpet."

"Don’t apologize about that, I am sure it has been taken care of."

"Maybe but it must have been disgusting to see." Mauve shut her eyes as the image appeared. It was enough to make her want to hurl out her insides again.

"I have seen worse," Mill replied.

"Huh? I highly doubt that."

"But I have," Mill responded as she helped her out of the water. "I didn’t wash your hair since that would take too long to dry and leave you cold."

Mauve nodded as Mill wrapped her in a towel and led her to the bed. She sat down while the vampire dried her.

Suddenly, Mill stopped as she wiped Mauve’s arm. She leaned closer as she stared at a spot on Mauve’s arm.

Mauve frowned and looked at her arm but nothing seemed out of place but it was too dark for her to be sure.

"What is it?" Mauve asked when she couldn’t take it anymore.

"Is it just me or is this part of your skin a little lighter?" Mill asked, pointing to her arm.

Mauve’s brows furrowed as she looked at the spot Mill was talking about. It was just above the inside of her elbow.

She couldn’t see anything different with the skin there but she couldn’t rely on her sight. If Mill said there was something odd, then there was.

"I can’t see anything," Mauve said and looked up at Mill.

"It’s probably too dark for you to see. Just a second."

Mill walked away and returned with the light, she put it close to Mauve’s arm, revealing what Mauve’s eyes couldn’t pick out.

Mauve heard the gasp escape her lips before she could stop herself. It was a patch of really pale skin. Normally, it wouldn’t raise any concern but she recognized this.

Even after all these years, all it took was one glance and she could immediately tell what she was looking at.

Mauve expression darkened, it was the same thing that had brought her mother’s life to a drastic end. It was commonly known as the white disease.
