The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 560. Better

Chapter 560: 560. Better

Mauve opened her eyes and sat up immediately. She stretched out her hands, letting out a satisfied sound.

At the end of her stretch, she turned to her side, only to see Jael staring at her.

"You’re awake," she jerked, startled.

"I think that’s my line. Feeling better?" He asked as he also moved to a sitting position.

Mauve nodded.

"The headache?" He asked.

She paused as she wiggled her brows and scrunched up her face.

"What are you doing?" He asked in amusement.

"Checking," she smiled. "Just to make sure."

"And?" He asked.

"All gone," she replied.

Jael smiled and closed the gap between them. He lifted his hand and placed the back of his palm on her forehead.

"Your temperature is also back to normal."

She nodded, "I told you I will get better."

He smiled, "I guess you do keep your promises."

"Of course."

"Still, don’t overdo it. I will ask Kieran to check you before the first meal, just to be safe and you will take the herbs he provides."

Mauve scrunched up her face, she could already tell it would taste nasty but she knew it would be best if she took it.

"Okay. Whatever you feel is best," she replied with a nod.

"And except for mealtimes you’re to remain in bed," Jael added.

"Jael," she cried. "You can’t do that."

"Fine," he mumbled. "But you’re not allowed in my study room."

"Okay," she replied. "I can deal with that."

"Good to know we are on the same page."

"We are not," she pouted. "You’re forcing my hand."

He tucked her hair behind her ears as he stared at him. "You can call it whatever you want."

Mauve tried to scrunch up her face in anger but she only ended up bursting into laughter.

"I should go to my room," she replied and rolled out of bed. "Mill should be waiting."

Jael nodded and didn’t try to stop her from leaving. She got to the connecting door and turned around to smile at him before she walked out.

The sound of the door closing was louder than she intended. She flinched a little. The first thing she noticed was that she was alone. Mill wasn’t there yet but she knew the vampire wouldn’t take long.

She groaned as she touched her head. The headache was practically gone but she could feel traces of it. It wasn’t enough to be a nuisance and she was hoping it would be completely gone by the time she was done with her shower.

She sat down on her bed as she waited for Mill. She rubbed her palms over the well-made bed. The only crease on it was the one she was making by sitting on it.

She looked around the room as she sat down. At this point, this room was a storage room. She chuckled as she thought to herself. The only time she spent her was when she wanted to have her bath.

Mauve winced as an unpleasant thought passed through her mind. Would she spend more time in this room if Jael got a mate or would he move her out? She shook her head, it must be the aftermath of the fever. Her thoughts were out of control.

The door opened and Mill walked in. Mauve stood up from the bed immediately, smiling at Mill. Mill rushed in, she placed the bath down and was by Mauve’s side in a second. She gently grabbed her by the shoulders looking at her left and right.

"Mill," Mauve cried.

"I heard you were sick," she whispered.

"But it was nothing serious. I am better now," Mauve tried to explain.

Mill frowned as she pulled her hands away from Mauve’s shoulders. "Do humans get better that fast? What exactly was wrong?"

"I had a fever. I am guessing it must have been from all the activities I have been involved in. My body gave up on me."

Mill peered at her, she didn’t look very convinced. "And how do you feel now?" Mill asked.

"Never better," Mauve replied and did a little spin.

"I am glad," she smiled at Mauve. "Let’s get you ready and you must make sure to get some rest."

"I will," she grinned. Everyone was practically telling her the same thing which was weird considering she barely did anything around here.

Mill just finished with her hair when a knock echoed in her room. At first, she thought it was Louis but then Mill opened the door to reveal Jael, and behind him was Kieran.

Mauve got to her feet immediately. "Kieran," she called. She hadn’t expected Jael to bring Kieran to her room. She could have met with him, he didn’t have to be dragged here.

"Mauve," he called.

He walked behind Jael and only went past him when Jael made a path for him. Kieran stopped in front of her with a piercing stare aimed at her.

"I heard you’re completely better."

Mauve nodded, "The headache is completely gone, my temperature is back to normal and the chills are gone."

"That’s good," Kieran said but his tone suggested otherwise. "I did expect your fever to break before sunset, however, I doubt the illness is completely gone."

"I don’t think it will be back. I will make sure to get enough rest and drink lots of liquids."

"That’s good. You are well informed," he replied. "I will still go ahead and prepare the herbs. I don’t want to take any chances. Do let me know if you feel any different even if it is a minor change. Something you think is insignificant."

"Of course. Thank you so much. I shall let you know the instant I feel a little weird."

Kieran smiled at her and then turned his attention to Jael. "I don’t think we need to worry. Just keep an eye on her."

Jael nodded and walked to Mauve. "Are you ready to go?"

She nodded and accepted his arm, linking hers with his and they walked out of her room together.
