The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 538. Blood Party

Chapter 538: 538. Blood Party

Mauve did not like the look that passed across Mill’s face as though she had said more than she should have.

"Well, I am sure he was planning to let any vampire drink out of her during the party but since she’s just one human that would have taken a toll on her. I am glad the Primus got her out of there before that, she wouldn’t have survived."

"Wait a minute," Mauve asked, not caring that she was starting to feel cold because she was questioning the vampire rather than letting Mill help her with her bath.

"Are you saying that these blood parties, that’s what happens?" Mauve asked with a bewildered expression.

"Well, it was a regular party but to you humans it would be called a blood party. There would be blood at this party. It’s the equivalent of wine to humans."

Mauve winced, now she was considering sitting in her room. This wasn’t the pretty picture she wanted to get a front-row seat of.

"Before the Primus figured out a way to get blood around in a bag, humans were the only way to access blood so it did make sense that there would be humans at the party," Mill added.

"I see," Mauve said and leaned back.

Now, she was regretting asking. It did make sense but at the same time, it was disturbing. Was she sure she wanted to attend the party knowing this information?

"You don’t have to worry about that. Another means is available so you don’t have to worry about yourself," Mill said as though she read her thoughts. "Besides, Jael wouldn’t let them."

Mauve forced a smile, trying to wipe the information from her head. It was before she came around, she shouldn’t let the information bother her so much.

"Would you be attending the party?" She asked in an attempt to change the question.

"Of course," Mill said with a smile.

"Want to go together?" She asked.

"That would be nice but I doubt the Primus would let that happen and at the same time it would be better if you were by his side."

Mauve nodded, "You’re probably right about that."

"I know I am but don’t worry I’ll make sure to come find you," she replied.

"Thank you," Mauve whispered as Mill helped her out of the tub.

The vampire dried her and helped her into her dress before leading her to the dresser to brush her hair.

The connecting door suddenly opened and Jael walked in. His wet hair was slicked back in a ponytail. He was wearing a black shirt and some pants.

Mauve turned her head to look at him and their eyes met. He held it for a few seconds before he walked towards her.

"Sire," Mill said and made to bow.

"Carry on, Mill," he ordered and she nodded.

He stood behind Mill and held her gaze in the mirror, his gaze intense. Mauve swallowed, she squirmed under his gaze.

"Are you just going to stand there and stare?"

"Maybe," he shrugged. "I like what I see."

Mauve watched Mill’s eyes widen slightly as she fought hard to hold back her smile.

Mauve blushed and held her tongue. She knew that whatever she told him would only encourage him some more and he would say something worse.

He was definitely trying to get back at her for what she did earlier. She didn’t regret it but she was sure she would suffer the consequences.

Thankfully, Mill moved fast and soon enough she was done with her hair. It was obvious she wasn’t the only one anxious about Jael’s stare.

She stood to her feet and walked to him, glaring at him. She stopped in front of him and he stared at her with an amused look on his face.

"I guess you’re ready to go," he replied.

"No thanks to you," she responded and tried to walk past him but he grabbed her hand and pulled her to himself.

"You look beautiful," he whispered.

Mauve smiled and almost smacked herself. She could tell by the expression on his face that he had been expecting her to react like that. She didn’t like that she acted according to the script.

"Glowering at me won’t change that," he replied with a chuckle and walked to the door.

Mauve rolled her eyes at his back but followed him without any hesitation. He led her down the stairs and soon enough they were inside the dining hall.

Mauve winced at the brightly lit space, it looked brighter than she had ever seen it. Every corner was lit up.

The sound of chairs moving as every single person seated in the hall rose to their feet.

Jael led her to their seat and Mauve sat down. Feeling more anxious than ever. Lady Marceline met her eyes and Mauve smiled at her.

Sabrina was sitting at a different table and the vampire had been vigorously waving at her as soon as she stepped in.

Her parents, however, were seated at the same table as her and it was hard to tell if they approved of her from their expressions.

Jael sat down and the Lords did the same. Mauve was hoping that by this time tomorrow, at least half of them would be gone. If this was going to be a monthly occurrence she was sure she would lose her mind.

The Lords spoke more during the first meal, it was hard to listen in as everyone seemed to be having one conversation or the other.

Mauve just concentrated on her food. She was anxious about the party but not anxious enough for it to ruin her appetite.

Besides, there was a high chance she would not be able to eat later. Better to eat all she could.

She raised her head to see Jael look at her as she gobbled up her food. She half expected him to say something in that direction but he just gave her a knowing look before looking away.
