The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 536. Clear Destination
Chapter 536: 536. Clear Destination
Jael sat on his seat close to his desk with an unreadable expression on his face. Lord Levaton was saying nothing as he sat across from him and Jael’s expression changed to a frown.
"What is this about?" He forced himself to say when it became clear that the Lord was more interested in a staring competition than telling him the purpose of this meeting.
"Sire," Levaton said, clearing his throat. "I see you have brought the human back."
Jael gave the Lord an unimpressed look. "Surely this isn’t what you pulled me out of bed to discuss?"
"No," Lord Levaton said and offered no more explanation.
Jael frowned, his patience running thin. He leaned forward and glared at Lord Levaton. "Pray tell, old vampire, why have you called me out here?"
Levaton chuckled, "It has been a while since you called me that."
Jael’s expression did not change. "I can see you take delight in the situation but clearly I am not as amused. If you don’t say what this is about, I am afraid I will leave you to your devices and head for bed. Tomorrow is a busy day. Hopefully, that would give you enough time to gather your thoughts and we can talk about what this is about."
"No need for such impatience, Your Grace."
"Impatience?" Jael asked in horror.
"I apologize for the delay but what I am here for is of utmost importance."
"Then speak. I wouldn’t condone this type of behavior from anyone, Lord Levaton."
Levaton smiled, "I appreciate that the Primus would take an exception to me."
"Not for long if you don’t start talking."
"Yes, Sire. I am here on behalf of my daughter..."
"Not that subject again," Jael interrupted.
"Please, hear me out, Your Grace."
Jael squinted his gaze but kept his mouth shut. Levaton quickly took this as a cue to continue speaking.
"The offer is still open and I assure you, it would be beneficial to your reign. However, I understand and accept your decision."
"Thank you for your understanding," Jael replied sarcastically.
Levaton nodded, "I want you to know it doesn’t change my loyalty to the crown and I will always support the Primus."
Jael frowned, "I never thought it did." His tone sounded accusing.
"I understand that things have been a little awkward between us but I want you to know my allegiance is to you and you alone. Whatever your decision will be, I shall support."
"I appreciate your support. However, I still do not think this is worth interrupting my sleep. If there is anything else you wish to discuss then do so, otherwise you’d have to excuse me Lord Levaton."
"That is all, Sire." Lord Levaton said with a nod.
Jael gave him a once over and turned away as he stood to his feet. He went around the Lord and then stopped suddenly as he passed him.
"I never questioned your loyalty even as things turned sour. This was absolutely unnecessary, Lord Levaton. I guess growing old must have turned you senile."
Levaton laughed, "You don’t have to be so harsh, Your Grace."
"I am not, I merely speak the truth. You can stay as long as you want. Hopefully, I can make amends for the last time you were here. However, do not hold me to my word."
"Yes Sire," Levaton replied and stood to his feet. He bowed his head at Jael’s retreating figure.
Jael walked away without looking back, closing the Lord in his study. The frown on his face wasn’t going anywhere.
There was no reason why the Lord should have done this and it almost didn’t sit right with him.
He didn’t want to dwell on it. Didn’t feel the need to. Lord Levaton has done enough to excuse some bad behavior. He never really took the situation to heart.
He couldn’t blame the Lord; he would be a bit bitter if someone rejected his daughter. Jael frowned, a lot bitter.
He stopped in front of his room and his frown deepened. He pushed open the door and Mauve was in his bed.
She was clutching a pillow as she lay on her back. Her eyes were wide awake. As soon as he opened the door, she sat upright.
"Jael," she called out with a smile. "You’re back."
"Yeah," he replied absentmindedly as he looked around. "Did something happen?" He asked.
"Well," she said and her eyes darted around. "Mill ran into Otis out in front of your room. He said he wanted to see you and was waiting for you to finish."
Jael frowned. He hadn’t sensed anything. Was it because he had been preoccupied with Lord Levaton or Otis had not stepped close enough for him to notice?
"No, I didn’t run into him."
"Did he say what he wanted to discuss?" He asked.
Mauve shook her head. "Mill tried to ask him saying she would pass the message to you but he refused to tell her anything. He said he had to speak to you himself."
Jael frowned as he wondered what this was about. There was no reason why Otis would be the one to seek him out. He had expected it to be Seraphino. He wasn’t the type to hide behind his right-hand man so what was this about?
"I see," he replied and climbed into the bed with her. "Is that why Mill was in your room?" He asked.
"You could tell?" Mauve asked, looking at him with her brown eyes. Jael found himself drawn to them the longer he stared at her.
"Yeah, she must have heard me come in because as soon as I walked in, I heard her leave your room," he replied.
"I didn’t hear a thing," she replied as scooted closer to him, beaming at him. He could easily tell she was in a good mood.
"You’re in a good mood," he commented. He was sitting upright and she leaned on him.
"Of course," she replied and rubbed against him with her hair as she rested her head on his chest.
He knew she had nothing but innocent thoughts to this but his wants were already overriding the logical side of his thoughts.
"Today is a good day," she added. "And it is all thanks to you."
Her smile tugged at his heartstrings. Why did it feel so good to make her so happy?
"You don’t have to thank me so much," he responded. "You have already said thank you at least five times already."
"Well, it’s not nearly enough if you ask me," she replied, looking up at him.
He was glad she didn’t look bothered. He had been expecting the incident with Otis to at least make her worry but she didn’t look like she cared.
"I am sure I can think of other ways you can thank me," he whispered, bringing his head closer as he stared into her eyes.
"Jael," she called but she wasn’t scolding him. There was a purr to her voice that sent all the blood to his lower region.
"How did the meeting with Lord Levaton go?" She asked, looking down.
Jael couldn’t help the expression on his face. "Not worth mentioning," he replied and lifted her chin so he could see her face but that wasn’t the only reason.
She opened her mouth to speak and he closed it with his. He sucked on her lip and she groaned into his mouth.
She pushed her tongue into his mouth and Jael knew he couldn’t stop now even if he wanted to.
She adjusted and straddled him, rubbing against him through his pants. He winced, hating that it was in the way.
His impatience was overpouring. He wanted to rip away his clothes and dive deep into her and at the same time, he wanted to take his time and make her call out his name even before he was sheathed in her.
Her hand moved to the back of his head as she deepened the kiss. Her signature move turned him on harder than ever.
He pressed against her nether region and rotated his hips. Her clothes were light and by the gasp that escaped her lips, his action had the desired effect.
His hand moved to her bosom, rubbing the nipples against the silk nightdress made her jerk and Jael knew he wanted nothing more than to put his lips over her buds.
He gently pushed her away from himself and placed her on the bed. The arousal in her eyes as she gave him a dazed look made him forget about his plans to take it slow.
He covered her hardened bud with his lips and his finger played with the other as he tried to remind himself about his goal.
The moan that escaped her lips as he sucked on it, made the pain in his pants worth it. He sucked harder, biting her lightly through her dress.
She grabbed his hair and tugged, her legs squeezed tightly under him. Jael parted them with his free hand, his destination clear.
