Chapter 533. No Ruckus

Chapter 533: 533. No Ruckus

"Pretty fast, right?"

"Are you sure about this?" Otis asked. "You haven’t been able to figure out a cure."

"Of course, I already tested it out and about the cure, why would I do that? There is no point."

"Forget that I asked. Did you test out the new strain on humans?" Otis asked.

"Not yet but the few animals I did, didn’t last a week."

"You’ll help against Palers if you truly take it seriously," Otis commented but it was hard to tell if he was serious or not.

"I already looked in that direction, nothing to show forth. It’s impressive that Kieran could come up with the drug."

"Any hope of cracking it?" Otis asked.

"There is no point. I hate Palers too, I am not trying to hinder his grand plans. I just hate not having humans and apparently for that to happen Jael should have never been the Primus. Now, he’s the only one with a human and all we can do is stand back and watch. Pesky, isn’t it?"

"You sound very displeased about this," Otis stated.

"I thought that was very obvious and the worst part is he got the best one. Then he sabotages mine. Wouldn’t you call that greedy, Otis?" Seraphino asked, his slightly bent fangs were hard to miss.

"I would call it greedy." Otis nodded.

"I am glad we both agree. So, can I count on you to take care of this?" Seraphino asked.

"I can’t say for sure, Lord Seraphino. They are all cautious of me."

"Surely, you’ve proven yourself in the period you’ve been here. That’s why you are here."

"I may have gotten a little ahead of myself."

"What did you do?"

Otis shrugged, "Nothing worth mentioning. Someone was just being a little over-sensitive."

Seraphino frowned, not liking Otis’ response. "Can you get it done?"

"It would just take longer. Mill is with her constantly."

"Oh, the vampire twins. Ugh. They shouldn’t be any threat."

"But there is no way I can get it to her without being caught."

"Put it in her drink or something."

"If I can get access to that, don’t forget it also has your blood in it. The Primus would be able to pick that from a mile away. Are you trying to get us killed?"

"He wouldn’t kill us for a human," Seraphino replied.

"Would you like to prove that? As for me, I am not very eager," Otis responded.

"You’re scared of the Primus?" Seraphino chuckled.

"I am not scared. I am alone on this side. It would be best not to mess up. For my sake."

"You do have a point. Take your time. If you decide to turn tail and run after what you’ve done, you can come back," Seraphino laughed.

"Not funny."

"I am amused. I didn’t expect you to shiver in fear at the sight of the Primus."

"It’s not fear for the Primus. It’s fear for my life. But as you wish my Lord, I shall get the task done."

"Good," Seraphino’s face turned serious. "Very good."

"What are you going to do about this? Would you like me to inform the Primus and issue a search?" Otis asked.

"You’ll do none of that," Seraphino said and laid back.

"What?"

"I accept defeat in this round. There is no reason to do pointless things. I won’t find her. Besides, accepting my defeat quietly is so much better than raising a ruckus. A ruckus would make it look like I am helpless. I am not."

"So we do nothing?" Otis tried to confirm.

"That’s what I said. Do not say a word about it. I doubt anyone would ask though."

"As you wish," Otis said and bent his head. "Would there be anything else?" He asked.

"No," Seraphino said nonchalantly. His blank expression showed his thoughts were already on something else.

"I shall take my leave then," Otis replied.

"Yeah, do that. I shall gather my thoughts."

Otis nodded and turned away from him, heading for the door.

"Otis," Seraphino said when he got to the door.

Otis slowly turned around, "Yes?"

"Call a servant to clean this mess," Seraphino glanced at him and then looked away.

"As you wish My Lord." The door closed with a loud thud.

Seraphino laid unmoving on the bed and then he let out a loud chuckle. After a couple of seconds, he stopped and ran his tongue over his fangs.

A soft knock pulled him out of his thoughts. "Come in," he whispered.

The servant rushed in bowing. Seraphino didn’t even look at them, just pointed in the direction of the pieces of the rope.

They cleaned it up quickly and were gone before he could finish his train of thought.

After about thirty minutes, he pushed himself off the bed and walked to the door. He pulled it open and one of his guards walked in.

He bowed and walked to the wardrobe, pulled out a change of clothes, and helped Seraphino out of the old ones and into the new ones.

Without saying a word, Seraphino made his way out of his bedroom and soon stopped in front of the doors to the dining hall.

The guards opened the doors and he walked right in. He frowned, by the looks of things he was quite early.

He approached the mostly empty seats and the other Lords who were already seated acknowledged his presence.

Seraphino merely nodded at them and sat down in his usual seat. The position kept him perfectly aligned with the Primus and his precious human. He smirked at him as he waited.

Their entry took a while and by this time Seraphino’s impatience was starting to show. He slightly tapped on the floor with his shoes.

The burst opened and they walked in, arms intertwined. Seraphino stood to his feet as the rest of the Lord but didn’t bow his gaze.

He caught eyes with her and she looked away immediately. Seraphino didn’t miss the slight smirk on her lips. He wondered if she would still be smiling by the time he was done with her.
