The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 506. Hers

Chapter 506: 506. Hers

Mauve instinctively tightened her hold on Jael as they walked out the door together. He returned the gesture, squeezing her hands lightly. She smiled up at him and he winked.

Mauve couldn’t help the giggle that popped out of her lips. She wondered if he could tell she was anxious even though there was nothing to be anxious about.

She knew she wouldn’t be this conscious if it was Mill or Louis but somehow doing this with Jael made all her nerve ends stand on edge.

Mauve winced as they stepped out, it wasn’t a full moon but it was bright enough to see.

However, she didn’t have to rely on just the moon, the first thing she noticed as she walked down the castle steps was the fountain.

There was light all around it as though it had been specifically lit for her. She was still on the stairs leading to the door but she could see it from where she stood.

It took her everything not to rush forward. She could hear the loud sound of rushing water.

Jael led her straight to it as though he could read her mind.

The water flowed from the middle and then poured down into a drainage at the bottom.

They had executed the fountain better than she had thought they would be able to.

"Can I touch it?" She asked Jael when they stopped directly in front of it.

He frowned, "I don’t know about that, be careful not to wet yourself."

"I promise I won’t."

"Good," he said and slowly let go of her hand. "Because I am the only one allowed to do that."

"What?" Mauve asked, her eyes widened at his words.

"You heard me," he said with a smirk. "Very clearly even."

"Don’t say that outside," she scolded.

He grabbed her again and pulled her to himself. "So it’s okay if we are indoors."

"No!" She said and pulled away from him to the fountain, shaking her head.

The good news was he was in a good mood. The bad news, she would have to deal with this for the duration of the tour. Mauve wasn’t sure she could handle it. She could already feel herself slowly lose her mind.

She touched the fountain, it felt solid against her touch. It was hard to be certain what color it was but with the way it glimmered in the firelight, she could take a guess.

"This is beautiful," she whispered.

"I am glad you like it, she heard him say.

"I do," she nodded and took a step back, still staring.

"If you spend this long at every section, I doubt you would be able to see everything before sunset."

She glared at him but rushed towards him and intertwined their arms together.

"Can we walk down the path?" She asked.

The fountain was the only thing done to the front of the castle. She had wanted a garden but Mill had said it was best not to have it so crowded as the huge space would be appreciated.

Mauve could see what she meant. With the fountain right in front and the path leading down the lines of trees, it gave the castle a mystique look.

The path was surrounded by a well-trimmed lawn before the array of trees. The trees were closer to the fence that went around the castle.

"Shall we?" He asked as he stretched out his elbow.

Mauve grinned at him and nodded. She rushed towards him and linked their hands.

He winked at her in the dark before leading her towards the corner of the castle, ready to show her the rest of the work that was carried out.

*******************

Mauve tried not to pant as she climbed up the stairs, she knew Jael would never let her hear the end did it. The sightseeing had gone for longer than she thought.

She knew how huge the castle space was but she had thought she had the energy for it.

"Tired?" Jael mocked.

"Of course not," she forced out a smile. The sightseeing was over now, if she didn’t give in during the walk around, there was no way she’d give in now.

"Are you sure? You sound like you can barely breathe."

You’re hearing things," she said stubbornly and tried to take the next step.

She staggered and if Jael wasn’t behind her she would have fallen and hit the back of her head.

"I told you, you were tired."

"No, I am not," she insisted. "I just slipped."

"If you say so," he replied but didn’t let go of her.

She pouted and went up the next steps. How was Jael not exhausted? She could tell he had been trying to get her tired as he had made them go through unnecessary paths.

She wasn’t complaining, she just hated the smug look on his face.

Aside from Jael trying to get an opportunity to carry her, it was nice to walk around with him.

The workers had done better than she had expected. The bushes were cleared. The stables had been rebuilt and the annex attached to the castle looked better off than the last time she saw it.

But what was more interesting was the huge space at the back of the castle. The urge to run around has been great.

Mauve wondered if Jael would let her ride a horse all around in the daytime. She turned around to look at him and he smirked in her face. She glared at him and continued walking until she got into the castle.

Guards were waiting and they bowed to Jael. Mauve frowned a little as it took her a few seconds to realize they were just welcoming him.

Jael took off his jacket and one of the servants accepted it. The servant bowed and stepped away.

It was easy to forget Jael was King of this castle and vampires but in times like this, she was reminded. It was hard to believe that such an important man was hers.
