The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 505. Mid-Brush
Chapter 505: 505. Mid-Brush
"I need something I can easily move in," Mauve said to Mill as she pulled out the most uncomfortable dress one could possibly wear on a tour.
"You can easily move around in this," Mill said, holding up the dress as though Mauve didn’t see it properly the first time.
"Come on, Mill. I won’t be able to go down the stairs without help while wearing that. Give me something else."
"I like this dress and you’ve never worn it," Mill was adamant.
"For good reason too."
The sleeves of the dress fell over her shoulders, it was too ceremonial for her to just sit in it.
"Then, when will you put it on?"
"Maybe for a party. There is no way I can sit and just eat in that dress."
Mauve was more concerned about the sitting part. With how tight the dress looked, she would probably not be able to do more than sit in the dress.
"Okay," she said and placed the dress back into the wardrobe but not before Mauve saw her sad look of disappointment.
"One of my old dresses would suffice. Something that I can easily move in," she added.
The last thing she wanted to do was give Jael the idea that she couldn’t walk in her clothes. He would pick her up before she could even complain.
They would go outside the castle after the first meal was over. Mauve excited. It felt like the first time he gave her a tour.
Obviously, Jael was the worst person ever to go with but she didn’t really care, it was nice to spend some time with him.
"Old dress? I don’t think you still have any of that, I threw them away."
"Enough with the jokes, Mill."
"At this point, you might as well throw in a pair of pants. One would think you want to go on a long journey."
"Pants, that’s a great idea."
"Absolutely not," Mill said without missing a beat.
Mauve chuckled. It was funny how Mill never really cared about the kind of dresses Mauve wore when she first started helping her with her bath.
She would pick the randiest dresses, the colors were just as horrifying but now Mill had some very strong opinions.
"I’ll find a conducive dress," she said sarcastically.
"Yes ma’am. Whatever you like."
They both finally settled for a wine-colored dress. It was a long dress but not long enough to cause a nuisance.
It stopped about halfway down her mid-calf and it had a little flay. The midsection was also loose, comfortable to move in and the sleeves were long.
The only problem was the chest was a bit low but nothing too excessive. Mill paired the dress with a pearl necklace and a pair of similar earrings.
"How’s this?" Mill asked as she blushed Mauve’s hair.
"It’s beautiful," Mauve replied. Thank you.
"My pleasure. Would you like me to style your hair? I was thinking just brushing it and leaving it down should be enough."
Mauve nodded, "I agree."
"Or I could tie it up in a ponytail?"
Mauve shook her head, she doubted she would want that.
"Okay, just brushing your hair, it is," Mill said.
"Yeah, I don’t want to have my neck exposed completely."
"That’s not such a bad thing," Mill replied.
"If you say so," Mauve said as Mill started to brush her hair.
"I do," she murmured back.
"Mill," Mauve called in the silence.
"Yes," she replied absentminded.
"Do you think a human can bear a Vampire’s child?"
Mauve felt Mill’s hand freeze mid-brush.
"I-I don’t know," she whispered. "I’ve never really thought about it or heard anything about that before."
"Oh, okay."
"Why did you ask?" Mill asked as he resumed brushing her hair.
Mauve shrugged, "I was just wondering."
"Do you think you are..."
"No!" Mauve yelled. "Nothing of that sort."
"Are you sure?" Mill didn’t sound very convinced.
"I am, I would know if I..."
The connecting door was suddenly thrown open and Jael strutted into her room. Mauve clamped up immediately as she hoped he hadn’t heard any of their conversation. It didn’t look like he did.
The dramatic pause as he noticed her was hard to miss. "You’re ready," he whispered.
"Yeah," Mauve replied and stood to her feet as Mill stepped back.
The air was suddenly hard to breathe. His back hair was in its usual ponytail tail and he was dressed in black. His pants were a lighter shade than the top.
Mauve thought he looked handsome, his blue eyes were hard to miss and right now they were glued to her face.
"What do you think?" She smiled as she did a little spin, it was all she could think of to distract herself from staring too hard.
"Beautiful," he replied without hesitation.
Mauve blushed a little as she watched him approach her. "Thank you," she said. "You don’t look so bad, yourself."
He closed the gap between them and stood directly in front of her. "You think?" He asked with a slightly raised brow.
Mauve nodded but kept her gaze down.
"How can you answer that when you won’t even look at me?" He gently lifted her chin so their eyes met and Mauve felt herself drown in their depths.
He bent his head and planted a kiss on her lips before pulling away.
"Mill," he said to the vampire who still had her head bent.
"Sire," she replied.
He intertwined his hands with Mauve and let her out the door of her room.
The dining hall was awfully quiet, Mauve thought there was a tension in the air. Did something happen? She looked at Jael but his expression gave nothing away.
She figured she could just ask him after they were done eating. Maybe during the walk around the castle.
"Shall we?" Jael asked and stretched out his hands.
She nodded and took it without hesitation. He led her out of the dining hall and to the front door. Mauve held her breath, wondering what she would see. She had made sure not to peek during the whole renovation even when she went to her garden, she made sure not to look down just so she would truly be surprised.
