The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 491. Unexpected Guest
Chapter 491: 491. Unexpected Guest
"That’s the same thing I’d like to know," Jael said.
Mauve couldn’t see his face but she could clearly tell he wasn’t pleased. She was also curious as to who would be walking through the door.
By how surprised both Jael and Louis were, they weren’t expecting any visitors. However, not just anyone could show up unannounced.
It was definitely some Lord, she wondered if it was Lord Levaton. It would almost be ironic that she spoke about him today and he showed up at her doorstep.
However, it was highly unlikely, Lord Levaton seemed like the kind of vampire that would not show up unannounced, he would inform his host beforehand.
Mauve almost held her breath and the doors opened even wider. Jael didn’t move an inch, remaining rooted in the spot.
Suddenly, he swore even before the figure walked through the huge doors. He could apparently already tell who it was.
"Who is it?" Louis asked.
Jael cussed. "Why tell you and ruin her surprise?"
The words were barely out of Jael’s mouth when a porcelain figure walked through the door, latched on her arm was a slouched male figure.
Mauve would have recognized her aura from a mile away. However, her mate sticking to her like glue was a dead giveaway away.
"Aunty!" Louis yelled and rushed past them as he went down the stairs at full speed.
All Mauve felt was a gust of wind and in the next second, he was by the door.
"Louis!" She called back and for the first time, Mauve saw her unclasp from her mate as she took a step forward to hug Louis.
"Look at you!" She said, squeezing him tightly. "I can’t believe you came back and didn’t think to come see me."
Even though she was the only tightly hugging Louis Mauve was worried Lady Marceline would break.
Jael scoffed and finally continued walking down the stairs again. She looked up at his face but it was a little hard to see his expression.
"I apologize. A lot of things have been going on as you are aware. I have been very busy."
"I figured that’s why I decided to drop by early and say hello," she grinned.
"You came all the way for me?" Louis sounded genuinely surprised.
"Of course. You look older," Lady Marceline said. "That’s expected, I haven’t seen you in so long."
"And you haven’t aged a day, Aunty," Louis said, pulling back as he stared at her face.
She giggled and touched her cheeks before waving her hand at Louis, "Oh you flatter me. You still have a sweet mouth, don’t you."
"I would never, all I say is the truth. I am sure your mate agrees. I don’t think I have met him."
"No, you haven’t. This is my mate, Alaric. Alaric, this is my little nephew I have been talking about. The good one."
He hid behind Lady Marceline but managed to stretch out his hand. "It is nice to meet you." He said.
His voice sounded hoarse, as though he wasn’t used to speaking loudly.
Louis took his hand without any hesitation. He didn’t even act as though there was anything amiss.
"It is so nice to meet you. I am sure you must be just perfect. Aunt Marceline wouldn’t pick just anyone as her mate."
"Exactly why I said he is the good nephew, unlike a certain person. Are you really just going to pass me as though you can see me."
"You shouldn’t expect a warm reception when you show up to someone’s house unannounced."
"What do you want to do, throw me out?" She asked indignantly.
"I would if I could but considering you chose to show up just before the last meal meant you made sure I wouldn’t have that option. If I were to send you out now, I would be responsible for your death. I’d rather not have that hanging over my shoulder. You’re already a pain to deal with while you’re alive."
"I see you’re still as soulless as ever. It is good to see you and your human. I didn’t think she’d last this long."
Mauve didn’t even think, her body just moved on her own. She pulled her hand from Jael’s grasp and gave a courtesy to Lady Marceline.
She wasn’t sure if she could speak directly to her so she kept her mouth shut.
Funny enough Jael didn’t interrupt and he let her give her regards.
"At least unlike you, she has manners. The color is back on her cheeks and skin. At least one of you is taking my advice."
"Whatever," Jael said and grabbed her wrist. "You might want to settle in quickly if you want to eat the last meal. I doubt there would be any leftovers for you."
"He never changes huh?" Lady Marceline directed her question to Louis.
"By the looks of things no, I am afraid we are stuck with the devil until he falls and dies at some point. Which is bound to happen soon, don’t even worry about it. All that evilness would burst him into flames soon enough."
Marceline laughed loudly and then said something in response but they were too far away for Mauve to respond.
"Are you angry that I stopped to greet her?" She asked.
"No," he said and didn’t add anything.
Mauve nodded and swallowed. That was definitely enough warning that she shouldn’t push the subject.
She was surprised to see Lady Marceline but funny enough she wasn’t worried or scared or anything like that.
Jael’s aunt, she wasn’t sure if she could call her that. Lady Marceline wasn’t speaking directly to her but she wasn’t being hostile either.
Mauve was going to take that as a good sign. It might be condescending but it was better than the way most vampires treated her.
Lady Marceline didn’t ignore her, in fact, she acknowledged her more than most. She chuckled slightly as she remembered their first encounter.
She had been so scared when they had burst into her room but her mate Lord Alaric had merely been curious about her.
"Something funny?" Jael asked, his tone indicated he was still pissed.
"Oh no, I just remembered something."
"Care to share?"
"Well, I don’t think you’d find it funny."
"Hmm," he replied.
Mauve nodded and kept her lips sealed. He was really in a sour mood.
