Chapter 476. Discourteous

Chapter 476: 476. Discourteous

Mauve couldn’t help but feel bad that she had scolded him but he had just been thinking about her.

"Are you still mad?"

"I am not mad," she responded. "But you could have just told me that. You didn’t have to make it so dramatic." She smacked him.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about keeping you away. I wasn’t really thinking about the words I was saying."

"I shouldn’t be scolding you," she said with a big sigh. "How did it go with the estate?"

"Not good," he said and looked away from her. "Can we talk about something else?"

Mauve watched the look on his face and she knew he wasn’t trying to keep it from her but this was something he didn’t want to discuss now.

"Yes," she said.

"I will tell you all about it later. I just don’t want to talk about it now," he responded. "I’d rather talk about you."

"Okay," she said. "You don’t have to explain."

He smiled at her but Mauve could clearly see how tired he was. She couldn’t believe he fought Palers and still made the journey back in one night. He must be exhausted and hungry.

"Have you eaten?" She asked and he looked puzzled.

"No," he said after a few seconds of deliberation.

"What?" Mauve cried in horror. "You should have done that first. When was the last time you ate?"

"After sunset. We all had to eat before going."

Mauve’s eyes widened in horror. She pulled out of his grasp and pulled on the strings twice.

She returned in his arms ready to scold him but at least she had ordered his food first.

"What were you thinking? Why didn’t you eat? Don’t tell me you fought Palers and traveled back here on an empty stomach. Why would you do that?"

"I didn’t starve myself on purpose," he said with a bright smile.

Mauve thought he looked a little too happy for someone who was getting scolded. "Then why didn’t you eat? I am sure there must have been something to eat."

"I didn’t realize that I hadn’t eaten," he explained. "I was so preoccupied, I forgot."

Mauve sighed, she shouldn’t scold him. She was sure he was tired from all that he had gone through today.

It wasn’t normal for someone to forget to eat. It must have been that overwhelming for him to forget to eat.

She hugged him tighter, "I already asked for food. The servants would bring it sooner. Is there anything you would like to eat?" She asked, looking up at him.

With a straight face, Jael said, "Yes. You."

"Oh, I am sure you must be starved for blood too."

"That’s not what I mean, Mauve," he held her gaze.

Mauve blinked and her eyes widened in realization. She didn’t know how to respond and just stared at Jael with her mouth agape in shock. He chuckled and kissed her.

"Jael," she cried, snapping out of it. "Be serious."

"I am," he said. "That’s all I can think about."

"Don’t get any funny ideas until you have eaten."

"Are you saying it’s alright after I eat?" He asked with a smirk.

"No! That’s not what I meant. Besides, you can’t eat me like that."

"You’d be surprised," he replied. His engorged fangs glinted in the night light.

Mauve blushed, she didn’t like the fact that he could rub off on her so easily. Her body was already thinking that this wasn’t a bad idea.

"I don’t care, you should eat first."

"Yes," he said and pressed her to himself. "I like when you make a fuss about me," he whispered.

Mauve glared at him, no wonder he had been smiling so much every time she raised her voice. She had half thought he was mocking her.

"You want me to make even more fuss?" She asked.

He nodded, "Very much."

Mauve didn’t like the way he sounded. He sounded more turned on than pleased.

She waved the thought of that away from her mind. She knew she was thinking in that line because of what Jael had said. She couldn’t believe she had actually wanted that.

"Alright," she said and placed her head on his chest again. "Your food will be here soon."

A very loud knock caused Mauve to jerk. It wasn’t just loud, it was rude. She didn’t think any servant would knock like that.

Jael’s gaze darkened as he stared at the door. He didn’t respond to the knocking and Mauve figured he already knew who was behind the door.

"Jael," a loud voice said. "I know you’re in there. Let me in."

"No," Jael said stubbornly. "I will see you at sunset. Go and get some sleep."

"Jael! Don’t you dare!" I am not leaving here until you answer me."

Jael sighed and looked at Mauve. She understood the look immediately, he was blaming her for Louis’ behavior.

She looked away. He was right but Louis wasn’t the kind to act like this unless something was really wrong and she was very curious about this.

"Fine, come in." Jael finally gave in.

He opened the door and walked into the room shutting it close with a loud bang. Mauve didn’t need a soothsayer to tell her just how angry Louis was, she could clearly see it. She has never seen him this angry before.

His face was contorted and it looked like he had just rushed out of bed and grabbed the nearest shirt. He had worn it wrongly but Mauve knew this wasn’t the time to mention it.

"You wore your shirt backward," Jael said as soon as Louis got close enough.

Mauve’s mouth fell open, she couldn’t believe Jael had been discourteous enough to mention it.

"You think I don’t know. What were you thinking?" Louis asked.

"I thought it would be nice to let you know about the shirt, you didn’t seem very aware."

Mauve sighed, this was going to be bad. She could already tell. Louis looked pissed off as it is and Jael looked nonchalant.
