The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 430. His Mother’s Jewelry
Chapter 430: 430. His Mother’s Jewelry
Yeah," Mill responded.
"We should take it off," Mauve said. Her expression held relief, the dress was already too much for her.
"What?" Mill blinked, looking confused. Take what off?"
"This!" Mauve replied, pointing to the dress.
"Absolutely not! It’s perfect. It’s just missing a little something. If only we had some jewelry it would be perfect. The ones here won’t suit it. A ruby necklace would be nice."
Mill’s eyes glimmered as she explained. Her enthusiasm was a little horrifying to Mauve. She didn’t understand why Mill was willing to be so ceremonial about this.
Mauve looked at her with mouth agape. "Won’t that be too much red?"
"Absolutely not! A simple necklace with a ruby pendant. Of course not. It would fit perfectly with your dress. Not to mention it might be more distracting than..."
"Mill!" Mauve called out in horror, she didn’t want to think about what Mill was insinuating.
"What? You didn’t know what I was going to say."
"I can guess," Mauve replied.
"I was going to say your nice shoulders by the way. Compared to how dead vampires look, your skin looks very good."
"That doesn’t sound like a compliment, Mill. It sounds like..."
The door suddenly opened, drowning out the rest of Mauve’s words. She didn’t have to turn around to see who it was, she could already guess.
Only one person strutted into her room like he owned the place and technically he did but it still didn’t excuse his behavior.
Half the time she couldn’t help but think he barged into her room with the hope that he might find her in a compromising state. She wouldn’t put such past him.
The first thing she caught sight of was his clothes. He was still too far off for her to see his face.
"Your Grace," Mill said with a bow as she pulled away from Mauve.
"Go on," he said to them. "Don’t stop on my behalf."
"She is all set," Mill responded, still keeping her head low.
"Is she?" He asked as she closed the gap between them.
Mauve shivered as his gaze fell on her. His bright blue eyes were as beautiful as always but that wasn’t the only thing that drew her attention.
His hair was all tied up and she could finally see him with a proper ponytail. She couldn’t help but think it looked very good on him.
It accentuates the lines on his face. Drawing attention to his forehead and his well-shaped brows. Mauve smiled at him. Jael was truly very handsome and it didn’t help that he had such striking eyes.
He blinked slightly as he stared at her, his eyes straying down to her dress. She didn’t miss the lingering on her exposed cleavage and she wondered again if this was truly a good idea.
"Stand up, let me see you," he said, his expression changed as he looked at her with desire in his eyes.
Mauve found his order more exotic than she wanted it to be and now his reaction made her rethink her dislike for the dress.
She stood up and took a step forward stepping away from the dresser so he could get a proper view of the dress.
His brows raised and he smirked. "You look ravishing."
Mauve blushed, "You don’t think it’s too much. It’s just the last meal. I can’t help but think I might be overdressed."
"Overdressed? Don’t worry about that. Technically, this is also a bit of a party to celebrate our return. Though it’s mostly for Danag and Louis as they have been away for longer. I assure you, you’re not overdressed."
He stepped closer and touched her chin. Mauve squinted at him, it was easy for him to say that when he was dressed in his usual outfit. A shirt and a pair of pants. How innovative.
"What about me?" He asked, locking eyes with her. "You don’t think I look good?" He asked.
Mauve blushed and slightly closed her eyes. Of course he did but surely, he didn’t expect her to say that.
"Sire, if I may," Mill suddenly interrupted. She stood to her full height as she spoke to Jael but kept her gaze on the floor.
Jael frowned a little and turned to look at her, his palm was still on Mauve’s chin. "Go on, speak Mill."
"Thank you, your grace. As you can see, there isn’t a single piece of jewelry on her. I was wondering if there was perhaps a ruby necklace she could adorn and some earrings. It will definitely do wonders for the dress."
"No, there is no need for that," Mauve cried. "This is already too much in my opinion."
He turned to look at Mauve, he bent his head a little as if he was trying to picture her with the jewelry.
"Jael," she said, pulling his hand from her face. "Surely, you aren’t considering..."
"Mill, you know where all the pieces of my mother’s jewelry are kept, right?" He asked, cutting Mauve’s protest short as he turned his attention to Mauve.
"Yes," she responded with a nod of her head. "I do."
"Good, you should find just what you seek in their midst."
"Yes, Sire," Mill said and immediately rushed away, obviously to get the jewelry.
Mauve’s eyes widened, "There isn’t any need to go that far," Mauve said as she tried to stop Mill."
"This is for my amusement. You already look good enough to eat but Mill says you’ll look even better. Of course, this isn’t a chance I will pass on."
He grabbed her before she could move away and made her face him again.
Mauve didn’t know if should be infuriated or not but there was no way she could be angry. She was about to wear his mother’s jewelry.
This wasn’t the first time but this was the first time he was making a big show about it. She blushed, finding it hard to look at his face.
"Oh look at you, getting all bashful," he smirked.
She closed the gap between them, hiding her face from him.
She heard Jael grunt slightly. "If you do things like this. I might have to cancel dinner. You have to admit, it would be much better if it was just the two of us. Then you wouldn’t have to wear anything."
