The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 383. Conclusion
Chapter 383: 383. Conclusion
"I am just saying you should put much effort into this."
"Why do I have to do this?"
"Do you really need to ask? You care about her, want her back, and yes, you were cruel, but you’re willing to tuck your pride and ask her to come back. It really shows you care."
"You’d think the fact that I built the fence on her request was enough reason."
"Jael," Louis called.
"Wait, why am I writing a letter when I can go get her."
"Absolutely not! Your methods aren’t the greatest as we have seen."
"Huh? You don’t get to decide that."
"Yes, I do. You’re not leaving the castle. Besides, you can’t go anywhere in the state you’re in. You would need more than a few days to heal from the injuries, so you’re writing a letter. I will deliver it myself."
"What part of I don’t want you anywhere near her did you not understand?" Jael asked with an intense look on his face.
"I always knew you had a jealous side to you, but I never thought you’d show it like this," Louis smirked. "It’s so nice to see you turn to a different person for Mauve. It’s almost hilarious."
"Save your comments for someone who actually cares. I don’t want you anywhere near her."
"Oh, relax. There is no one better to get her back for you, so just let me deal with the situation."
"I can get her myself."
"I like the change of heart, but you have other problems to deal with and tons of letters to respond to. You can’t just leave Vampire Regions without fixing the mess you made while going through your heartbreak. Not to mention your treatment of Lord Levaton after he made the journey to see you."
Jael sighed, "Fine, whatever. I’ll make amends with him. How soon will you leave?"
"Wow, being complacent, aren’t we?" Louis smirked. "Sorry," he immediately said at Jael’s expression. "Tomorrow night, I will take Danag with me. How’s that? Fast enough for you?"
Jael sighed and ran his hands through his hair. He wanted to see her again. He didn’t think that was possible and was worried she hated him or worse or never liked him in the first place and was just condoning him until she could leave.
When he asked her never to return if she was going to leave, he had never guessed she would pick her father over him. That had broken him in more ways than one.
He had avoided her until she left because he had known he would have done everything to prevent her from going. However, she has already rejected him once. He wouldn’t be able to take it a second time.
"I suppose," Jael responded.
"Don’t sound so deflated. You’ll get Mauve back. I mean, the surefire way to get her back is to infiltrate the human territory and kidnap her. I mean, you sure have experience in breaking and entering."
"Louis," Jael called. "You keep testing me."
"My bad, I’m just excited. I can’t wait to meet the human who got you by the balls."
Jael glared at him, "Don’t be ridiculous, and don’t do or say anything you’re not supposed to."
"Come on, don’t you trust me?" Louis asked.
"No, I don’t," Jael replied.
"Ouch," Louis said and got to his feet. "Since we have made this much progress, I guess I will give you time to process it. If you need me, you know where to find me."
"Hmm," Jael responded as he leaned back in his seat. At this point, his hair was undone and fell across his face.
Louis walked to the door, and just as he opened it, he turned around and said, "Oh, I will ask the servants to bring more blood."
He didn’t wait for Jael to respond before he walked out of the study, closing the door with a loud bang.
Louis went down the path to see Danag at the end of it with his back to the wall. Louis approached him just as the guard pushed himself from the wall.
"Don’t tell me you have been waiting here since then?" Louis asked.
Danag shrugged, "How did it go?" He asked.
"Well, we set out to the human territory tomorrow night. We are going to bring back Mauve."
"That’s the conclusion?" Danag asked.
"I am afraid so."
"I see. If I had known it would turn out like this, I wouldn’t have bothered," he sighed.
"Give yourself a break."
"Did you tell him?" Danag asked.
"That you had a hand in it?" Louis asked with a surprised tone.
"Yeah," Danag nodded.
"Do you have a death wish or something?" Louis asked. "Of course not."
"But I should inform him."
"Never!" Louis said adamantly. "Or at least not right now. Besides, things would have gone south either way, with or without your help. It’s Jael we are talking about."
"However, I went against the Primus’ trust, and it wasn’t even beneficial."
Louis touched the bridge of his nose, "I see where you’re coming from. Truly, I do. However, I’d advise you not to do that right now. He’s in a very explosive stage. Lord knows what he would do if he found a place to direct all those suppressed feelings. You won’t walk away alive; that much is certain. I forbid you from telling him until we return at least, and this is an order. Besides, with how badly things have turned out. The last thing we want is a division."
Louis swore things were messy. Bringing Mauve back was a terrible idea. However, losing the Primus was entirely out of the question, so the lesser evil it was.
They would have to deal with the consequences. Hopefully, things weren’t too bad off that it couldn’t be managed.
He couldn’t believe Jael was this negligent. Of course, he was the Primus; he could do as he wanted, but that only worked if most of the Lords were on his side.
Rumors of an uprising weren’t good. He found out there was no smoke without fire, and to deal with that, the Primus needed to be in a proper mental state.
He swore internally that, this was such an excellent time to fall in love with a human. Jael and his terrible choices.
"As you wish, Lord Louis," Danag said with a slight bow. "I will go get ready."
"Yeah, you should." He said absentmindedly.
