The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 334. Doesn’t Feel Right
Chapter 334: 334. Doesn’t Feel Right
"I am so sorry, I must have jumped into the wrong conclusions. I just thought you grew tired of being here." She whispered, bringing her head down.
"It’s fine," she replied, wiping her tears, sniffing excessively. "But I could never grow tired of being here. Yes, vampires do things somewhat differently from humans but I thought this could be my home."
"It is," Mill cried.
"Thank you, Mill." She said with a sad smile.
"Is this final? Couldn’t you talk to the Primus? I could ask him for you, if you’d like. He didn’t look like he wanted..."
"It’s fine, really. I could never ask you to do that Mill," Mauve returned, it did warm her heart that Mill was willing to go talk to Jael on her behalf. At least someone didn’t want her to leave.
"I don’t mind even if I have to cross some boundaries. I am sure something can be done."
"The only option is staying and I think at this point, it’s a little too late for that. I already made my choice..." Mauve paused as she sobbed.
"I don’t think it’s too late, Mauve," Mill whispered.
"Maybe not but I don’t want to stay if it means I would never be able to even visit my hometown. Do you disapprove of my decision?" She asked wide eyed.
Maybe hearing someone else’s opinion would give her insight on the decision she chose. Either root her strongly in it or make her see that the decision she has chosen might be a bit wrong.
Mill rubbed her forehead and Mauve could visibly see her worry as she replied. "As much as I want you to stay. I can’t ask you to do that so no, I don’t disapprove of your decision. I disapprove that you were given such terrible options and was left with that choice to make."
Mauve stuck out her lower lip as tears streamed down her face. She could tell that Mill had phrased her words as carefully as she could, after all the person they were talking about was the Primus. Someone Mill held in high regard.
"Don’t cry," Mill said and stretched out her hands.
Mauve nodded, biting her lower lip to stop from sobbing as she rushed into Mill’s arms. The vampire held her close as she rubbed her back and gently caressed her hair.
"I’m sure it’s a fluke. You’ll be back before you know it," Mill said.
Mauve nodded but she didn’t believe that, not one bit. She was almost certain she wouldn’t see Jael ever again and this was the end of their makeshift marriage.
Mauve closed her eyes as she thought of this. Maybe the severity of the situation hasn’t completely dawned on her yet because what would she tell her father? The one task he had handed to her, she had failed at it.
"I hope so," she whispered.
"I know so."
Mill held her in that manner for a couple minutes and then Mauve pulled away. This was still her fight, it was a bit cruel to pull Mill into it, especially when Mauve knew how hard it was for Mill to go against him.
"I am better now," she replied, wiping her face. "If I am leaving tomorrow, I have to try to get enough rest. The journey is quite hectic."
"The second meal should be ready in a couple of minutes, settle down and we will go together."
"Thank you, Mill." She said and laid on her back. Turning to her side, she closed her eyes and tried to go to sleep.
"You’re welcome, if I want to be done packing up before tomorrow night. I better start now."
"Do you need any help?" Mauve said, sitting upright. Right now, she would appreciate any distraction she could get. Brooding over what had happened was only going to be her sadder and weaken her resolve to leave.
"Absolutely not!" Mill said sternly as she got out of the bed. "I want you to lay in bed and try to stop crying, nothing else."
"On one condition," Mauve said, her eyes darting to the sides. She wasn’t going to stay where she wasn’t wanted but she wasn’t going to leave without a fight.
Mill gave her a puzzled look, "I am listening."
"Could you leave as many things behind as you can?"
Mill frowned, "Why?"
The major reason was if she showed up with all her properties her father would know what was going on, she wanted to keep it quiet for as long as she could.
They started treating her better when they wanted to send her off to the vampire regions and would likely continue this act now that she had returned.
It wasn’t that she wanted this to continue, however, she didn’t want to feel the disappointment of not being able to keep her marriage. She wouldn’t be able to bear the disappointment in her father’s eyes nor would she be able to bear the Queen’s reaction.
It would be better if she kept it under wraps for as long as she could. If it eventually did come out, at least it won’t be on the first day.
There was also the mild hope that she might be able to come get her items herself. She knew this was ridiculous that there was a better chance that it would be sent to her and she wouldn’t be able to come back to get it, at least this was better than it being set ablaze. As stupid as this reasoning was, she held it close.
"I think it’s best if I traveled light," she lied through her teeth.
"Yes, you’re right about that," Mill said.
"Besides, if I cleared up my wardrobe, it would really look like I do want to leave. I don’t care if they get burnt or not but I’d rather leave something behind."
"They won’t get burnt, not if I have something to say about it!" Mill said with conviction.
Mauve smiled, "I can’t thank you enough, Mill."
"You don’t have to," she grinned and turned away from Mauve.
Mauve nodded and returned to lying down. She couldn’t fight this and win but she could try. She knew this was pathetic of an attempt but if Jael did do anything about her remaining items, it would mean he truly didn’t want her here.
Besides, she was fine with them getting burnt anyway, nothing was really hers amongst her properties. Her mother had left nothing for her.
Whatever she had brought had been given to her by the queen and other lords to show their supposed appreciation she was taking on this task so she didn’t mind if they got burnt.
"You’re taking the livid dress, right?" Mill’s voice cut through their thoughts.
"No," Mauve said without opening her eyes. It was a gift from the person who didn’t want her anymore. That was the one thing she absolutely could not take with her.
"Whattttt?!" Mill sounded flabbergasted. "You have to!"
"No," she replied.
"You’re probably right," Mill whispered.
Mauve sighed in relief, she was glad the vampire didn’t argue. Even though it was technically the first dress she had ever gotten that was made specifically for her, not counting her wedding dress, she didn’t want to take it.
It felt right to leave it in the wardrobe. A dress she hasn’t worn wasn’t technically hers yet but at the same time it was and she wanted to leave something significant behind.
Mauve tried to clear her mind, all this thinking was making her head hurt and her tears overflow. She could only go with the flow now, worrying about what she didn’t have power over would only make her feel more miserable.

"What the hell was that?!" Erick said darkly. "You would think we were the ones chasing her off!"
"Hold your temper, Erick!" Danag scolded. "The Primus have given orders, you have no choice but to obey."
"I know, I know that more than anyone. If he didn’t want to send her off, he didn’t have to."
"Technically, it’s still your fault she saw the letter."
"You’re not helping, Danag!"
"I apologize, if that would calm you down."
"I am calm, I am just slightly ticked off. Getting all that worked over by a human, still can’t wrap my head around."
"See why I said she should leave but to think she isn’t returning."
"Your plan is working out, isn’t it?" Erick asked.
"Not exactly. I didn’t want her to leave completely. I simply wanted her out of the picture. If the source of his infatuation isn’t around, he should get over it quickly and get on with his duties."
"So, this is better?" Erick asked as he threw himself on his bed.
"I don’t know but to think Damon won’t be coming with us."
"I think it’s better this way, he would most likely get in the way."
"I don’t know about that." Danag looked lost in thought.
"You look worried," Erick said with a frown.
"Do I?"
"Yeah," Erick whispered.
"Is that so? Something doesn’t feel right."
