The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 333. Her Decision

Chapter 333: 333. Her Decision

"I heard you the first time," she interrupted, her chest swelling. "Since that’s how you want it, I have also made my decision."

"Is that so?" Jael asked with a blink. His face was still blank and Mauve hated how emotionless he was about the situation.

Mauve bit the inside of her cheeks, she was one blink away from being a sobbing mess. Jael looked unbothered and she would rather lose a limb than show how much this was heartbreaking to her.

However, she knew he had a clue. There was no way he would have said those words without having any intent behind them. He must have known how much it would hurt her.

Was he tired of her and this was a way of masking the situation up and making it look like her fault? It didn’t make sense with everything that has happened recently.

They were fine, he even fulfilled his promise and got her the dresses. She gave him a scarf. Mauve winced at the memory of the scarf, it really was the cause of this.

Maybe if she had not given him the scarf she never would have found out about the letter and it wouldn’t have led to this situation.

"What’s your answer, Mauve?" He asked.

Mauve could taste blood from biting her cheeks too hard but she couldn’t feel the pain. She looked him straight in the eye, her eyes heavy with tears begging to fall out. She knew he could clearly see them but he neither showed remorse nor acknowledged her tears.

"I would like to go back to Greenham," she said, bringing her hand to her chest. The pain there was unbearable.

Jael’s eyes widened in shock and his expression twisted. His eyes flickered and Mauve shivered. She brought her gaze down as tears fell down her cheeks.

"Since that’s what you have decided, it will be arranged," he said.

Mauve held the sob in her throat. There was still time to change her decision, she was probably being irrational because she was very hurt right now.

Leaving Jael couldn’t possibly be the right choice. They could work this out, right? He was testing her. He would likely say it was a joke any minute from now.

"Is there anything else? If there isn’t, I’d like to be left alone."

"I..." she started raising her head, tears were still running down her face.

Mauve immediately shut her lips as she met Jael’s eyes. She brought her hands down to her sides, feeling dejected.

"There is nothing else," she said with her head bent. "I will leave you to it."

Jael grunted his reply and Mauve slowly turned away to the door. She took the step one at a time, worried that her legs might fail her before she got to the door or worse she would turn on her heel and run back to him, telling him how sorry she was and there was no need for this. She didn’t need to go back, she wanted to stay with him forever. She didn’t want to give up the only place she could call home.

But Mauve knew she couldn’t, not with the way he had stared at her, not with how easy it had been for him to tell her off. He didn’t mind sending her off even though the act shattered her heart into a million pieces.

She held onto the door and pulled, glad it opened on the first try. She didn’t have any energy in her body and she was worried she wouldn’t be able to get out of his presence before breaking into a loud cry.

Mauve closed the door behind her and using the wall as support, she started the trip back to her room. She had barely taken five steps away from the study when her legs failed her.

Mauve fell to the ground, her hand to chest, squeezing tight, she cried. It wasn’t a scream or a wail. It was a silent sob that couldn’t be heard unless one was close to her.

Her shoulders shook as she cried, her face streaming with tears. She leaned her head against the wall and held the position.

Mauve didn’t realize anyone was coming until she heard Mill call her name.

"Mauve," the vampire sounded panicky. "Are you alright?" She asked and rushed to her.

"Yes," she said with a weepy voice. She immediately bent her head and wiped her face, hoping the vampire would not notice but she knew there was no way to hide this.

"You’re crying, what’s wrong?"

"Nothing," she said and clung to the vampire’s hand. "Could you just take me to my room, please?"

Mauve could feel another stream of tears coming, if she had to answer any questions right now she wouldn’t be able to keep her fake composure.

Mill narrowed her eyes and looked to the study and back at Mauve. Mauve braced herself for questioning but Mill simply nodded and helped her to her feet.

Mauve was still too close to Jael’s study, she was afraid that he must have heard her crying, she didn’t want him to know just how badly she was faring but that wasn’t the only reason she was worried.

The second was he had heard her and had decided to do absolutely nothing about it. The sound of her cries wasn’t enough for him to change his mind. This was too painful to think about.

They walked to her room without saying a word and Mill helped her get into the bed. She covered Mauve with the cover sheets and removed hair from her face.

"I will be right back," she whispered. "The Primus called for a servant, I have to go and see what he wants."

"I understand, thank you," Mauve replied and adjusted her head on the pillow.

"I will be right back, please try and calm down."

She smiled and turned away from Mill, "I can’t make any promises," she replied with a sad chuckle.

"Just a moment," Mill said and she started for the door. Mauve felt a little warm at the Vampire’s worry.

"Mill," she called out, still closing her eyes.

"Yes," Mill responded, her hand on the door handle.

Mauve raised her head and looked Mill in the face, "Not a word about this to Jael, I am begging you."

Mill looked at her with sad eyes and nodded, "You have my word."

Mauve smiled and continued lying down. "Thank you," she whispered.

She heard the sound of the door closing and she closed her eyes with the hopes that all her crying would cause her to sleep.

Her head was hurting but it was nothing compared to how hurt she felt. She couldn’t stop the tears from running down her cheeks, just when she thought she had run out of tears more tears flowed.

She had wished for too much. She should have been content, she already had more than she ever dreamed of. She shouldn’t have picked the option to leave.

How would she tell her father the marriage was off? She was already a disappointment and now she has fallen even lower.

There was officially no place she could call home. Why was she difficult to want? What was it about her?

Mauve felt her head spin as her thoughts went all over the place. Her mind churned incessantly, she thought of things she shouldn’t and it only made her headache worse.

Mauve didn’t know how many minutes passed when Mill returned. The vampire quietly approached her and sat on the edge of the bed.

"The Primus tells me you’ll be leaving for the human kingdom tomorrow night."

Mauve nodded but kept her head turned away from Mill and her eyes closed. She wondered just how much Jael had told her.

"He wants me to help you pack up and he doesn’t want me to leave anything behind. You’re not coming back, are you?" Mill asked.

Mauve shook her head.

"Why?" Mill cried. "Why would you not come back? I know you must miss home but do you hate it so much here that you don’t want to come back."

Mauve’s eyes flew open, obviously, there was some misunderstanding. "I don’t hate it here," she said and sat upright. "I love it here."

"Then why won’t you come back?" Mill asked.

Mauve looked at the vampire’s face and she could see the worry lines on her forehead and the look of concern on her face.

"On Jael’s orders, he said if I wanted to go back to Greenham, I shouldn’t return." She wiped at her face as she spoke, the tears were running down her face again.

"What? That’s not right..." She paused briefly and Mauve could see her thinking about something.

"Why do you mean it’s not right?" She asked, peering at Mill’s face.

Mauve was sure her face was red and puffy, the tip of her nose also felt sensitive from how much she had been rubbing at it.

"Are you positive he told you that?" Mill asked with a frown.

Mauve frowned and Mill immediately raised her hands. "I am so sorry, I must have jumped into the wrong conclusions."
