The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 317. Mine

Chapter 317: 317. Mine

Mauve’s mouth fell open and it took a couple of seconds for her brain to process a reply.

When she had asked the question, she had expected a vague answer. Not something so detailed.

Jael’s brows dipped at her expression. "What?" He asked with his head turned slightly sideways to look at her face.

She blinked and turned away, "I didn’t expect you to actually tell me about it, I thought the most I’d get would be a vague reply."

"But you asked," he said.

"Yeah, I know." She shook her head slightly.

"It’s not exactly a secret, Erick might not be pleased to hear you know about this but I don’t have a reason to not tell you."

He replied and turned to the letter, leaning forward slightly. Mauve adjusted on his leg as he picked up the pen and unrolled the paper.

"Are you sure I am not in the way?" She asked. He would definitely be able to work faster if she wasn’t here.

"I’m pretty sure you know my response and at this point, I am tempted to ask if you want to leave."

She shook her head vigorously. "I just don’t want to obstruct your work."

Jael scoffed, "This isn’t important work. If you weren’t here, I’ll probably push this until when I feel like it. Starting with the training is what is more important right now, everything else is secondary."

"Oh alright," Mauve said, bopping her head to his words. "I do hope it goes smoothly."

Mauve watched Jael as she spoke, she couldn’t physically help. All she could do was wish them the very best in their fight against the Palers.

"It would," Jael said darkly.

She nodded, she would be lying if she said she didn’t see his passion in this war and she couldn’t blame him, Palers had taken too many things from them. This was only right.

She kept quiet for a couple of minutes, giving him time to write out what he wanted. Besides, it was always fascinating to see him use the pen. She was certain it must hurt but he used it as if it was a regular pen.

Jael cussed as he put the pen down. He lifted his bleeding finger to his lips and licked off the blood. The injury was already healed.

Mauve eyes opened briefly, vampires were fascinating. She could comprehend how they healed so fast and each time she thought about it she could only think it was like magic.

"Erick should send it out before the night is over." He said.

Mauve nodded, appreciative of the information even though she could do nothing with it.

He leaned back into his seat and raised his head to look at her. Suddenly, he pulled her so she was sitting across his legs instead of just one. She gasped as he gathered her in his arms.

"You don’t have to pull me around because I am so easy to carry," she replied.

"I thought you were used to it by now," he smirked looking down at her face.

Mauve looked away immediately, "Don’t you have more work to do? You wouldn’t be able to do anything with me in this position."

Jael shrugged, "I have done enough. I’m sure anything else can wait." She felt his gaze trail her body as he spoke.

Mauve blushed, still looking away from him. He had not said or done anything in that direction, why was she already thinking about him kissing her?

"Thank you," she said and turned to look at him.

Jael frowned, "What for?" He asked.

"You know," she said, twiddling with her thumbs.

"I don’t know." Mauve could hear the sound of his voice; he was not going to make this easy for her.

"The garden," she whispered.

"I should thank you for the tour instead."

She squinted at him, "You didn’t even look at the flowers."

"I did look at a pretty flower though, the prettiest of all."

Mauve blushed some more immediately knowing what he was talking about. Feigning ignorance wouldn’t help her as he would only expand on the topic, embarrassing her more.

"Isn’t that the point of going flower viewing?" He asked and lifted her chin so she had no choice but to look at him.

She turned her eyes to the sides, unable to look directly into his eyes. "I suppose," she replied, feeling her body burn.

"The good news is, I can view my favorite flower whenever I want."

Mauve blushed all the way to the roots of her hair and Jael chuckled. "You’re so adorable," he whispered and gently kissed her lips.

Mauve leaned into him, grabbing the front of his shirt as he kissed her. He broke the kiss and Mauve saw his eyes glow slightly.

She was heaving, her chest tight from not getting enough air into her lungs. She was still grabbing the front of his shirt and he held her hand.

"We can go further if you want," he smirked at her.

Mauve gasped and immediately looked down. She didn’t know what to say to that.

Jael let out a soft laugh, "You’re really adorable," he said and leaned forward. "Don’t worry, I’ll give you time. I am sure you are still be a little sore from yesterday."

"Jael," she whimpered. She hated how her voice sounded. It was annoying that no matter the situation, she would have most likely let him go as far as he wanted to.

He kissed her on her lips but quickly broke the kiss. He groaned loudly and leaned back on his chairs, adjusting her on his legs.

"Is something wrong?" She asked.

"Of course not. Are you comfortable?" He asked.

She nodded and brought her hand to her lips.

Jael smirked and leaned forward. "Or would you like us to continue?"

"Jael," she whined.

He laughed and leaned back looking at her with a hint of a smirk. He just looked at her without saying anything.

Mauve fiddled with her hair and looked everywhere but at him. She didn’t like the fact that he could read her like a book.

"Did you have anything to do with what happened to Corbin?" She asked, turning her eyes to him so she could see his reaction to her question.

He didn’t flinch, his expression didn’t change and for a minute she thought he wouldn’t answer.

"Why do you think that?" He asked.

"I don’t know, I was just wondering."

"Wondering?" He raised a brow. She didn’t like the way he looked intrigued. "I thought you didn’t want me to do anything about the situation, so why do you think I had something to do with it?"

She looked away from him, this was true but still she would be lying if she said she wished he didn’t get sunburnt.

"His story doesn’t add up," she replied, putting up a strong front. "I find it unlikely that he would forget to shut his window."

"Ah I see, so because of that you think I had something to do with it?"

"I was just wondering," she said and turned away from him. She just wanted to ask a question now it was turning into something else.

"Yeah, I heard but why would I do that? What reason do I have to want to hurt him? I don’t know if you know but getting sunburnt is so painful and the healing process is just as messy."

She swallowed and glanced at his face but quickly brought her gaze down. His stares sent shivers up her skin and it was hard to tell if it was the good one, it felt more like a mix of good and bad.

"I didn’t say it was you, I was simply wondering." She mumbled.

Jael leaned back on his seat, "Of course I had something to do with it. It’s too bad, I couldn’t do it myself. The little bastard, thinking he could scare what’s mine."

Mauve blushed, "I am yours?"

"Aren’t you?" He asked with a raised brow.

She covered her hand with her face and slowly nodded. She leaned against his body as she tried to hide from view.

"Good," he whispered and wrapped his hand around her. "I am not giving you to anyone and no one would dare harm you, not while I have something to say about and the ones that try would get what’s coming to them."

Mauve nodded against him, a new warmth was spreading from her chest to the rest of her body. She could feel her toes tingle. It felt very nice to get a confirmation that she was wanted.

Typical of Jael to say something like this so casually. She could barely breathe. She doubted people got better love confession. Still, selling her soul to a vampire sounded dark, however, it was too late now, she had already given him all she had.

Besides if she had an option, she doubted she would want it any other way. This was better than she could imagine.
