The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 247. The Damn Letter
Chapter 247: 247. The Damn Letter
"She is leaving, the Primus shouldn’t be given such inferior goods," Danag said with conviction. "This wasn’t part of the agreement and to try to fool us like, we won’t condone such."
Erick paused for a minute as if deep in thought after a few seconds he said, "You think he would let her go."
"You don’t sound thrilled," Danag said with a frown.
"I do, with this information whatever Sabrina has against me has no weight. However, do you truly think he would let her go?" Erick asked with an intense gaze.
Danag’s expression fell at Erick’s words; he had expected Erick to be the loudest advocate about this. Having him be the one to shred the one leverage was a little destabilizing.
"He doesn’t have a choice. To settle for such after knowing the truth would be insulting, not just to the Primus but to Vampires as a whole. This is the one time he has to do the right thing."
Erick took a step closer and sat down on the bed beside Danag. He leaned toward Danag a little so their shoulders were touching.
"This is unlike you," Danag said, looking ahead.
"I know," Erick mumbled. "However, I still can’t get over the fact that he told my cousin off for the human. I doubt even this would be enough to deter the Primus."
"Just what did Sabrina tell you?" Danag asked with a concerned look.
"I can’t go home," Erick said with a look of slight horror in his eyes.
"And you won’t. I just told you she isn’t even an actual princess, the alliance might as well be scrapped at this point. Besides, it’s discourteous that you think the Primus would really believe that. As annoying as you are, he knows you’ll never harm her. We would never."
"You think so?"
"How did you get so horrified to think the Primus would chase you off? You say shit all the time. You’re impulsive but you’d never go as far as to harm a defenseless human girl."
"You really think that of me?" Erick asked with a bright smile.
"Get off me, I have more concerning things than dealing with your trauma."
"You’re mean," Erick blurted out.
"I am not. Get your shit together." Danag scolded and jumped to his feet.
"Where are you going?" Erick asked.
"To try my luck again, the Primus has to see this. Not only are the humans playing him, but so is the princess. She is aware of their ploy and going along with it, she is no different from them."
"Danag," Erick called. "You see it too. Your anxiousness is showing."
"I don’t want to hear that from you," Danag said darkly. "However if certain steps aren’t taken we might have a human mate on our hands and that’s more troublesome than anything else. You of all people should know that."
"The Primus will never stoop that low," Erick said but there was no conviction in his voice.
"Did you forget that you thought you’d be chased off because of a human?" Danag spat out.
"And he chased Lady Jevera off, his best choice in picking a mate."
Danag squinted his eyes and started walking to the door. Without another word, he pulled open the door and walked out, closing it loudly behind him.
Danag stomped in a hurry rushing down the stairs and quickly made his way to the study. He stopped in front of the door and knocked twice.
No response.
He waited for another thirty seconds before knocking again. The letter was burning a hole in his palm and he fought the urge to squeeze it.
He heard whispering but couldn’t really pick out the words and then a "Come in," followed. Danag didn’t need anyone to tell him The Primus was angry.
"What do you want again?" He asked darkly as Danag opened the door.
"This is important, Sire," Danag muttered with his head bent.
"I have to go prepare for the last meal," Mauve said cheerfully as she tried to get out of his grasp.
"Jael," she called, pulling at his hand that was firmly wrapped around her.
"There should still be at least two hours before the last meal." He said darkly.
"That’s exactly the amount of time I need," she said sweetly and tugged harder until he let her go.
"I see," he replied.
She hesitated for a second but just ended up waving at him before heading to the door where Danag stood with his head.
"Danag," she said with a slight curtsey when she got to where he stood.
"Mauve," he called, conceitedly.
He saw the shock on her face but she immediately recovered and smiled widely at him. Nodding as if she approved of him calling her by her name.
Danag frowned, he had called her by her name to let her know her gig was up but her reaction had completely thrown him off.
There was also the fact that she had left the study so the Primus won’t have an excuse. He also noticed how she tried to calm the Primus down earlier. There was also the rebuilding of the fence.
Danag shut his eyes tightly. He refused to be swayed. She wasn’t completely bad, he would be the first to admit but it didn’t change the fact that she lied about who she was and she was a hindrance to the Primus.
No matter what he could end up with a human mate, not if he had something to say about it.
"Danag!" The Primus called angrily. "Come forth."
"Yes, Sire," Danag said and rushed toward the desk.
"Aren’t you being too stubborn and arrogant? Do you not care about the consequences of going against my orders? Do they mean that little to you?"
Danag immediately dropped to one knee. "I only live on your orders, My Primus," Danag said with his head bent.
"Bullshit, you keep getting on my nerves."
"I’d cut out my guts if you want, Sire but please read the letter."
"If I want," he threw his head back and laughed. "Danag, at this point even your fangs wouldn’t appease my anger. Bring the damn letter!" His eyes flashed and Danag felt cold.
