The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 201. In his Room

Chapter 201: 201. In his Room

"Put it on." "This is your shirt," she said as she held it to the light to look at what he handed to her. Jael raised his brow and took a step forward. "Do you have a problem wearing my clothes?" He arched his head to the side as he stared down at her. Mauve squirmed on the bed with the towel wrapped around her chest. "No," she said with a soft blush. "But surely it must be easier to get my own clothes, my room is just next door." She turned to look at the connecting door. It will be weird to cross to her room in just her towel but it wasn’t far and she will get to her wardrobe before she even got a chance to feel self-conscious. "This is faster unless it is not to your liking, I am sure I can find another for you." "No, it’s fine. I just don’t know if I should wear your clothes." She stared hard at it as she held it in her arms. The shirt was a deep blue and somehow it reminded her of Jael’s eyes. It felt silky under her fingers, she knew it would be comfortable against her skin. However, she couldn’t wrap her head around wearing Jael’s clothes. "Don’t think too much about it. I have already given you my permission. Or would you prefer I help you? Would that make it easier?" Jael asked at her hesitation. "No, I am fine." "Good, after that you’ll eat and get some sleep." He bent to his knees and grabbed her chin. "You need it." Mauve nodded. She closed her eyes and slipped the shirt over her head. "Here, let me help you." He straightened his knees but kept the rest of him bent. He helped her slide her hands into the shirt. He adjusted the neck and pulled the towel off her body. It came off without a hitch and the shirt slid down and fell onto her lap. He took a step back to admire his work. "Thank you," Mauve said. He stood to his full height and said, "Stand up." Mauve did as he requested and the shirt fell down her legs going past her mid thighs and stopping on her knees. Just how short was she compared to him? Mauve quickly bashed that train of thought, she was standing in front of him. She could clearly see the height difference. At least it didn’t get to her ankles, she would take some solitude in that. "Is that to your liking?" He asked. She raised her head to look at his face and his eyes glowed for a couple of seconds as he stared down at her. "Yes," she replied. "But are you sure I can wear this?" She lifted her arms to demonstrate and her entire hand was completely covered with a reasonable amount of the shirt sleeves handing down. Mauve was sure she looked ridiculous. Jael closed the gap between them and folded the sleeveless until it uncovered her palms. "Um, thank you," she whispered. "Get comfortable," he said and pointed to the bed. "I will take care of this." She sat back on the bed, she wasn’t sure exactly what he was talking about but he already said he would take care of it, she doubted he would reply if she asked him. He stared down at her for a couple of seconds before he walked away from her. He went around the bed and pull on a string. He was not even by her side when a knock could be heard. Mauve couldn’t help but wonder if the servant had been standing right outside the door. "Your Grace," the servant said after Jael gave him permission to come in. "Take these away." He pointed toward the used bath items. "How much longer do I have to wait before my meal is ready?" He asked with a frown. The poor servant shook under his fiery gaze. "I apologize but it won’t take much longer, Your Grace. The servants are already setting up." He bowed again. Jael waved his hand and the servant walked further into the room. He picked up what he could carry in one go and fled out of the room. "Aren’t you going to wash up?" She asked as the guard closed the door. Jael turns to gaze at her, "Are you saying I stink?" "No, the journey must have been hectic for you too. I was concerned. Besides, it’s not like vampires give off any smell in the first place." She rolled her eyes, she should have minded her business. "We do in certain instances," he said. "Huh?" A knock interrupted before he could reply to her and a servant walked in with a huge tray of food. It was quickly set up in front of her on a table and Jael sat beside her. The servant bowed and left the room. Mauve wasted no time in picking up her cutlery. She dug into the food without hesitation, she didn’t want Jael to get any ideas. If he should suggest feeding her, he probably won’t let it go until he did. "I knew you were hungry but I didn’t think it was that bad." She glared at him and looked back at her food. "If I had known it was that bad, I would have sent a guard ahead so you’d get to eat the instant we arrived." "Oh," she dropped her food down and stared at him. "It’s fine, it’s really not that bad." "If you insist," he said with an odd expression. Mauve squirmed under his gaze and quickly looked away. She ate as much as she could before giving up. She stood to her feet after the servants had cleared the dishes. "Where are you going?" Jael asked sternly. "To my room. Now that I have eaten I just want to lie down and sleep. My body feels exhausted, it must be because I barely got enough sleep earlier." She stretched out her arms and one of the folded sleeves loosened but she didn’t pay it any mind. "You’ll stay here!" He ordered. "Surely, it must be an inconvenience for you. Y-you must have a lot you need to do, I don’t want to interrupt." "Enough with your yapping and get into bed." He closed the gap between them and his voice dropped a few notches. "Besides, I want to keep an eye on you." "I am right next door," she glared at him. She wasn’t impressed by this. The fact that he would be watching her while she slept felt weird. "Quite complaining," he said and scooped her into his hands. He dropped her on the bed and walked away. He sat on the lounge with his back to her. "Stop glaring at me and get some sleep." He said. "Are you just going to sit there?" "I can’t sleep since it’s still dark out but I’ll still like to get some rest and I don’t want to interrupt your sleep so shut your eyes and lie back down." "Wouldn’t it be better if I were in my room?" She asked again. She didn’t have a problem being her but she had never slept in his room before and she was a little nervous. "Better for who?" He asked and turned around to look at her. "Okay," she said, gripping the sheets. "I will get some sleep." "Good," he said. Even though he was across the room, she could still see the twinkle in his eyes and the smirk on his lips. She rolled her eyes and lay on her back. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep. The bed did feel uncomfortable and as she settled in, she felt herself get sleepy. ... Mauve eyes suddenly flew open. She could tell it wasn’t nightfall yet but there was no way she could sleep for another minute. She had slept enough to last her for a week. After bathing, she spent at least three hours sleeping. She had woken up before the last meal and Mill got her dressed for it. She was happy to see the maid had gotten back to the castle in one piece. The last meal had been a little weird without Danag as Damon wasn’t much of a talker and Erick was a pain in the rear but even Erick seemed tongue-tied during the meal. Mauve didn’t dwell on this as she was just happy to be back here. It’s expected that it will be weird for a while but she will get used to it soon enough. She looked up at Jael, there was no indication that he was awake. Normally he would have spoken if he was. He had been annoying for most of today as he didn’t let her do anything without him. She was still in his room, she didn’t get a chance to plead her case. She slowly lifted her body from his and he didn’t stare. Mauve frowned, he must be really stressed out. She pulled away completely from him, being very careful not to make a sound, and just as she was about to get out of bed, he grabbed her wrist. Mauve’s screams echoed in the dimly lit room. She turned around to see his unimpressed expression. "Where are you going?" He asked with furrowed brows.
