The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 200. Back Home.

Chapter 200: 200. Back Home.

The carriage came to an abrupt stop. "We are here," Jael announced.

Mauve sat upright immediately, "Really?" She asked and tried to look out the window but Jael held her.

"We will be out soon, contain your excitement."

She sneered at him but held still. It was just out the window, he didn’t have to make such a fuss but Mauve couldn’t complain, not with the way he had held her during the trip.

She had been anxious and she knew he could tell. The journey had been smoother than she imagined it to be. They made a few stops but nothing worrisome. Best of all, they had gotten here without any attack.

Suddenly, the door was thrown open and was held open. "Sire," Damon’s voice rang out through the night.

Jael grunted as he stepped out of the carriage and quickly turned around to help her out. He stretched out his hand and she took it. Just as she did, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her out.

Mauve yelped a little at the sudden movement. He placed her on the ground and she staggered a little as she tried to find balance. His hand on her waist quickly steadied her.

"Careful," he whispered and Mauve fought the urge to tell him it was his fault that she lost her balance in the first place.

She took a step away from his arms and looked around. The familiar rundown state of the castle’s surroundings was soothing and very nostalgic. She was back home.

Even though it was dark, she could clearly see the bushes that needed cutting and trimming. She still couldn’t comprehend why it was in such an improper state and why nothing has been done about it.

She looked to the castle, the huge building looked sturdy and welcoming. She was back here and she was safe too. She took a step forward and Jael pulled her back. She turned to glare at him and the front doors were thrown open.

Erick came out running, "Sire," he yelled at the top of his voice. He rushed down the stairs. "Welcome back," he said with a very low bow.

"Lord Erick!" Mauve heard herself say. Even though she hated his guts, it was good to see him again.

"Lord?" Jael asked with a questioning gaze looking between Mauve and Erick.

Damon snickered and Erick raised his head to give the vampire a glare. His gaze returned to Jael and it immediately softened.

"Whatever," Jael said when he didn’t get any response from either of them.

Leading Mauve by the waist, they headed for the stairs that led to the front door. He stopped in front of the stairs abruptly as they got to the top of the stairs right beside Erick.

"Whatever, you have to say. I’ll hear it after sundown, not before."

"Yes sire," Erick said with a stiff bow. "And welcome back, princess."

"T-thank you," Mauve managed to respond, she was a little taken aback that he would acknowledge her presence but she suspected it was because Jael was here.

He scoffed and looked away and Mauve immediately regretted thinking that he was being nice to her.

Jael took her up the three steps and through the front door and they were immediately greeted by a barricade of servants lined up not far from the opened door.

"Welcome back, Sire." They all greeted simultaneously.

Jael merely raised his hand to acknowledge their greetings as he kept on walking. They moved out of the way as Jael walked past them.

Jael got to the stairs leading to their room and turned around to look at the servants. "Get a bath ready, some food, and get the physician to the room," he said to no one in particular.

Mauve realized that even though they had ridden the carriage together, she had completely forgotten about Jean as soon as she left the carriage.

"Yes, Sire," quickly echoed through the house. The servants disperse immediately, leaving only about two and the guards by the door.

Jael grabbed her wrists and pulled her up the rest of the stairs. They got to the top and instead of going into her room, he led her past.

She pulled back her hand but he neither stopped nor slowed down, "You just passed my room." She mumbled.

"You’re going to mine," he said without offering any explanation.

Mauve didn’t bother arguing, she didn’t have any energy to. She could feel the exhaustion slowly weighing down on her.

She had not been able to get any proper rest as the carriage kept moving. Her head was banging and she felt a little sick but most importantly, she was starving.

Never again would she embark on such a long hectic ride without eating anything. She thought she would be too anxious to be hungry but she ended up being anxious and hungry.

He pushed the door open and Mauve froze, she could vaguely remember the first time she was in here, it felt so long ago. She had only been in here one other time since then and it was so brief she could barely remember it.

He closed the door plunging her into darkness. "You know I can’t see." She yelled as he took his hands away from her waist.

"Relax, I know." He said.

His voice sounded far away from her and Mauve heard movements just as the windows were thrown open. It brightened the room but it wasn’t of significant difference and she was just about to tell him when a knock was heard.

"Come in," Jael said and a servant rushed in with their head bowed.

"Sire, Mr. Herbert would like to know if there is anything specific you would like to eat."

*A/N I mean the head cook.*

Mauve frowned as she remembered she couldn’t specifically recall seeing Herbert in the servants line up.

"No," Jael said sternly. He turned to Mauve, "Would you prefer something?" He asked as he walked up to her.

Mauve shook her head. "I am fine." At this point, she felt like she could eat unseasoned food and her mouth wouldn’t be able to tell the difference because of how hungry she was.

"Yes, Sire."

"We will have our meal here and also bring a lamp." He placed his hand on her waist and carefully guided her to the bed.

"Right away, Sire." Still crouching low, the servant turned around and opened the door.

Suddenly, he poked his head back in before closing the door and said, "Excuse me, Your Grace but your bath water is here."

"Let them in."

The servants moved quickly and as soon as they dropped the bucket of water and tub, they fled the room.

Mauve sat on the bed just as another knock rang out, Jael answered the door and the first servant walked in with a lamp. It was relatively bright and he placed it on the table.

He bowed again before leaving the room. Mauve noticed that on both occasions, his eyes never wandered in her direction.

At the light Mauve could see better and she immediately looked around Jael’s room.

His room didn’t look completely different from hers except his bed looked bigger and a few things were arranged differently. His wardrobe was on the right side of the bed as opposed to hers being on the left.

There was also a lounge by the fireplace and his fireplace from farther from the bed than hers as though it didn’t look like it was used much.

"Stand up," he ordered.

Her eyes flew in his direction and he could see her walking toward her.

"You don’t have to help me, Mill can."

"Mill is busy," he said and loosened the tie on her neck.

"Well, I can wait for her." She mumbled even though he was already taking her clothes off.

"This will be quick, I know you’re tired of the journey and most importantly, you need to sleep."

She nodded and looked away from him as helped her out of her clothes. "Aren’t you going to take a bath," she asked as he led her to the tub, seeing that he was still putting on his clothes.

"This is for you," he said. "Now quit worrying and have your path before you catch a cold."

She glared at him but didn’t argue. There was no doubt she was tired with how she felt, she was certain it showed on her face. She got into the tub and he carefully poured the water over body.

She noticed he was very careful about her wounds. Mauve didn’t make a sound as he helped her clean up.

The bath was fast and she was all wrapped up in a towel and led to the bed. He walked away from her to his wardrobe.

She heard him rummage in there and then returned with a cloth in his hand. "Here," he said and handed it to her. "Put it on."

This is your shirt," she said and stared at it as she held it to the light.
