Chapter 192. Seen A Ghost
Chapter 192: 192. Seen A Ghost
"There is a glow to your skin and every time I look directly at your face, you blush," Mill said with a smile on her lips.
"I do not!" Mauve said adamantly, her voice tense.
"You do," Mill said and bent so she and Mauve were eyes level.
Mauve immediately turned away from her, her cheeks red as a tomato. If didn’t she didn’t what had happened, Mill could not think of a more obvious indicator. Well, that was aside from the red mark on her neck.
"See!" Mill said with a chuckle.
"There is nothing to see," Mauve said, her eyes glued to the wall.
She was trying to Mauve at ease but she could see that she was only embarrassing her further. She stood to her feet and resumed brushing her hair.
It was a good thing she had thought to keep the rest of the love marks to herself. It wasn’t usual but this was the first time there was any in the open and as bright as this.
"Did you ask him about leaving?" She asked, trying to change the topic.
Mauve nodded, "He said he would come to a decision when the time is close and decide for himself if I would be able to travel."
"Ah, that’s good news then."
"No, he could always tell me I am not fit to travel." She grunted.
Mill opened her mouth but quickly closed it. It wasn’t her place to tell Mauve that would likely not happen. Jael wasn’t the kind to raise Mauve’s hopes and then dash them.
"Would you like me to tie it up?" She asked.
"No," Maybe shook her head. "It is usually uncomfortable when I lie on my back."
"I will go get your food then. Would you like anything specifically?"
Mauve shook her head.
"It isn’t time for the second meal just yet so if you want anything the servants can get it ready for you."
"No, I am fine with whatever. It really doesn’t matter what I eat, as long as I can eat it."
Mill nodded, she could occasionally hear the growls from Mauve’s stomach. It wasn’t that loud but her ears were sharp enough to pick up certain sounds.
She carefully closed the door behind her and quickly made her way down the stairs. She got to the bottom of the stairs and quickly made her way to the kitchen just as Danag walked toward her in that direction.
She simply nodded at him and was about to pass him when he blocked her path.
"You have some news for me, don’t you?" He asked.
Mill’s eyes turned to slit, "What part of ’do not include me in this any longer,’ did you not get?"
"I am only here to say my thanks." He said and gave her a soft bow.
"Oh," she said, obviously caught off guard. "Then say that first, Danag. Besides, you don’t have to thank me, I had nothing to do with it."
"The King asked me to get a carriage here in three days. I am not sure how soon but considering he wants to begin preparations, it might be soon enough."
"A carriage?" Mill asked.
"Yes," Danag replied nonchalantly. "I couldn’t have done this without you."
Mill frowned, "Would you please stop adding me to the equation? I have no idea what is going on."
She walked past him as she briskly walked past him. Danag didn’t try to stop her and she was grateful, she didn’t want the King to see them together again, and she doubted he would believe some measly excuse.
However, three days was precisely when the physician said Mauve would be able to leave. That was pretty close, she wasn’t sure how she felt about leaving.
...
Mauve yawned and rubbed her injured shoulder, it felt a little itchy but nothing too bad. A soft knock echoed in the room and she immediately stood to her feet.
Mill wouldn’t knock and also, and she just left. It was a little too soon for her to be back yet. Instead of giving the order for them to come in, she walked to the door.
She opened it and Jael walked in, there was a dark look in his eyes but it immediately softened as soon as his gaze landed on her.
His change was so fast that she thought she imagined his earlier gaze.
"Jael," she cried, her excitement seeping out of her. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I went to check on you and you weren’t asleep anymore." He said and pinched her cheeks.
"Would you not do that?" She glared at him but there was no fierceness in her gaze.
"Hmm," he walked in and closed the door behind him.
Pulling her to him, he bent his head and planted a kiss on her lips before letting her go. Mauve blushed profusely. She bent her head and brought her hand to her lips.
He touched the side of her neck and she jerked. He raised a brow as their eyes met. "Too bad, it’s covered."
She grabbed the spot he touched and pulled back. "You did it on purpose!" She accused him.
"I have no idea what you’re talking about." He then grabbed her hand and led her to the bed.
"Have you eaten?" She asked as he pulled her into his lap.
"No," she said, shaking her head. "Mill went to bring my meal."
"Is that so?" His gaze darkened again.
"Did something happen?" Mauve asked.
"No," he said. "I wanted to be sure you were fine after all that," he whispered, teasing her ear with his tongue.
"Jael," Mauve cried. "Of course, I am fine."
"That’s good, then you should be able to do it again." He whispered directly into her ears.
Mauve froze and a burning sensation crawled from her stomach to the top of her head. She could not believe he was bringing it up again.
As she fought for a response and her face turned a bright shade of red. The door opened and Mill walked in with a tray. She wasn’t sure who looked more shocked between her and Mill. Mill looked like she had seen a ghost.
