The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 191. Love Mark

Chapter 191: 191. Love Mark

Mauve opened her eyes and immediately realized she was alone. She groaned as she sat upright rubbing her eyes. The drapes on the window were pulled back. That was the only source of light in the room.

Mauve squinted as she stared out of the room. It looked pretty dark outside. Just how long has she been asleep? She swung her legs off the side of the bed and stood up.

The world spun and Mauve fell back. She grabbed her head as she landed on the bed. "Ugh," she groaned as she held her head. It felt a little heavy in her palms.

She gave it a few seconds and then stood up, this time around she stood up slowly. She braced herself for another spin but nothing happened. Dropping her hand down, she carefully made her way out of the room.

She turned the handle, opened the door, and was greeted with darkness. Mauve swore, how was she supposed to navigate her way back to her room?

She turned back to look at the room and then walked out the door. She closed the door behind her and took a step forward. She knew it was a straight path to the room but she wasn’t sure what door exactly or how many steps it would take her to get there.

She blinked as her eyes tried to make out things in the dark. There was a bit of light streaming from the open windows but it was almost insignificant. She walked carefully even though there was no fear of her hitting anything but she was not about to take any chances.

Just as she was about to give up on this quest and just cry out, a door opened a couple of feet away from where she stood and Mill walked out of the room holding a lamp.

Mauve immediately rushed forward as Mill called out to her. "Mauve, you are awake? I knew I should have left the light for you but I did not want to leave anything that might wake you up."

Mauve stopped in front of her, "It is fine."

"I hope you aren’t hurt. I apologize, I should have been nearby but I did not think you would wake so quickly. I left the room a couple of minutes ago and you were still fast asleep."

"It is fine," Mauve repeated as she walked past her. All she wanted to do was sit and eat.

"I am sure you must be hungry," Mill said as she closed the door.

"You have no idea," Mauve said and sank into the bed.

"That’s expected, after all, it is almost midnight."

Mauve’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "WHAT? Why didn’t you wake me?"

"His Grace said under no circumstances should I or anybody else disturb your rest."

"Oh," Mauve said and looked away. Her face felt warm as memories from last night popped into her head.

"Did something happen?" Mill asked.

Mauve jerked but more from the fact that Mill sounded so close, she did not hear the vampire approach. "No, why?" Mauve asked but did not look Mill in the eye as she spoke.

"Well, his grace seemed..." Mill looked to the ceiling. "In a better mood, I’d say."

"Why do you think that has anything to do with me?" Mauve asked with a pout.

"Because..." Mill looked stunned for a moment. "Nevermind. I will get your water ready."

Mauve barely responded as Mill left the room, she adjusted on the bed and stared around. She could not believe that she had really slept for that long, she must have been really exhausted.

"Does your arm still hurt?" Mill asked as walked to the Mauve with the dress she had chosen in her hands.

"No," Mauve replied, twirling her left arm. Even after the incident, there was no pain in either of them.

"That’s good," Mill replied and stopped in front of her.

She glanced at her wounds, they seemed to be healing nicely and were a little wet after her shower but there wasn’t anything that worried her about it.

"I don’t know how humans heal but this looks like it’s healing properly," Mill commented as she noticed Mauve stared.

Mauve simply nodded, "I can’t wait for it to be completely healed."

Mill slid the cloth over Mauve’s head and she lifted her hand one at a time as Mill pulled them through the sleeves. Mauve frowned at the feeling against her neck.

"Why does this cover my neck?" She asked with a suspicious look on my face. "I would prefer something else, it feels a little restricting."

Mill’s face appeared in her face. "Are you sure about that? I figured you would like to cover the love mark but since you insist, I will get something else. " Mauve did not miss the smirk on her face.

She immediately stretched her palm to cover her neck, "What love mark?" She asked in horror.

"You know, you’ve had a few of them before but the one on your neck is pretty bright. It is not punctured but it might as well be."

Mauve shrank, she could recall exactly when she had gotten them but she could remember Jael kissing her neck but there had been no pain enough for her to worry.

"Is it that bad?" She asked as she looked to the ground.

"No, it’s not but against your skin, it is pretty obvious so I thought to cover it."

Mauve murmured her thanks, she did not know what to say to this and she was already pretty embarrassed there was no way she would be able to talk about this further.

Mill walked away from Mauve and returned to her side with a brush in her hand. She carefully started to brush her hair. "You know you are not the only one who seems to be in a better mood," Mill said with a hint of a smile on her face.

"What do you mean?" Mauve’s eyes darted around as she asked the question.

She could not comprehend why she was feigning ignorance. For some reason, she feared that Mill would be able to tell what had happened in bed with Jael and the thought made her a little anxious.
