Chapter 190. I am Locking You Up

Chapter 190: 190. I am Locking You Up

Mauve’s eyes flew open, she blinked as her eyes tried to adjust to the little light in the dark room.

"You are finally awake," Jael said and she realized she was lying on his chest. Her entire frame was on top of him.

She tried to pull away but Jael held her still. "Don’t move," he muttered.

She nodded and rested the side of her face against his body. She immediately noticed she was dressed and was even wearing underwear, she did not have to look down to check.

Did Jael clean her up and dressed her after she fell asleep? That was the only explanation. This wasn’t uncommon as he would occasionally clean her up after they were done.

Her eyes widened as she realized she had slept through the entire process of him cleaning her up and wearing her clothes.

She couldn’t remember exactly when she fell asleep but the last thing she remembered was Jael asking her questions. She wasn’t even sure she answered him, she had felt so tired. It was safe to assume that she had fallen asleep around that time.

"How do you feel?" He asked.

"Tired," she groaned. Her entire body ached and she felt a little sore between her legs. She turned on the other side of her face.

His finger ran down her back and Mauve sighed at the feel of his hand on her back. "And your arm?"

She shrugged, "It doesn’t feel particularly painful. A little heavy though but my other arm feels the same way."

"That’s good. Does anywhere else hurt?"

Mauve shook her head against him. She closed her eyes, she knew would not be able to stay awake for long and would probably spend the rest of the day and most of the night sleeping. She was that tired.

She wanted to say it had been a bad idea but with the way, her skin still tingled and how refreshed she felt even though her body ached, she knew that was a lie.

She blushed profusely as she remembered how wanton she had acted. She brought her face. She did not even want to imagine what Jael was thinking. Now that it was over all she could think of was how embarrassing her situation was.

"Where did you learn that?" He asked as his fingers made circular motions on her back.

"What are you talking about?" She pouted, her words sounding a bit muffled as her mouth partly rested on his chest.

"You know exactly what I am talking about. Don’t play coy now. If I had known you were capable of something along that lines, we certainly would have done that before now."

Mauve reddened all the way to the nape of her neck. She did not know what to say in response but there was no way she was going to admit anything. She couldn’t even believe they were talking about it, it was too indecent.

"I really don’t know what you are talking about." Her voice sounded a little too high pitched and she heard Jael chuckle.

"Really?" He replied. "Even if I say it wasn’t a bad bribe and I might reconsider my decision."

Mauve raised her head to look at him beside him holding her down. "Really?" She asked with wide eyes. "You would let me embark on the journey back?"

"No," Jae said without emotion.

Mauve’s face immediately fell. "Why?"

"Don’t ask so many questions, we will go back eventually just not before you get better." He scolded.

"But I am better and the physician even confirmed that I can leave."

He didn’t reply, just stared at her with an unreadable expression.

"Is it for safety reasons? If that’s it then I understand." She did consider Palers but it wasn’t like she could stay here forever, she would have to leave here eventually and the Palers would still be a problem then.

"It is not," Jael said with a loud sigh, he sounded exasperated and slightly annoyed. She hoped he wouldn’t be in a foul mood again.

"Then why?" She cried as she stared at him.

"I don’t want you worrying about getting attacked by a Paler. It won’t happen again, this time around I will keep you safe." He wrapped his arms around her.

"I know," Mauve whispered and rested her head on his chest again. His expression looked serious and sad simultaneously, she had to look away. "I am not worried about that."

"Good," he said and didn’t add anything.

"You haven’t answered my question." She added, she couldn’t comprehend why he was adamant about this.

"I don’t..." He paused and Mauve lifted her head to look at him. "If I say I will think about it? Will you drop it?" He asked.

"No! Jael," she whined. "Why won’t you let me go?"

"Don’t you like it here?" He asked.

"Hmm, it’s not like I don’t. I’d just rather go back to the castle."

She didn’t want to say she had more freedom there and at least knew her way around. If Mill wasn’t with her, Mauve could only imagine how awkward it would be.

Also, it was darker than back at the castle. Maybe because they made an effort since they had a live-in human. "The journey wouldn’t be so smooth, it would be better if you’re all healed up."

"But that would take a long time," Mauve pouted.

He palmed her face, "Go to sleep. We will talk about this in a few days and if I think you’re in any condition to leave, I might think about it but another word about this, and I am locking you up and throwing the key until your wounds are healed completely."

"Okay," she said with a smile and rested her head on his chest again. She shook her shoulders, humming happily.

He chuckled, "You’re like a little child."

She gasped, "I’m not."

"If you insist, Mauve. Now rest up. You weren’t asleep for long."

She nodded, she couldn’t even argue with him. She did want to sleep. She closed her eyes and completely relaxed on his body as she listened to his low-beating heart.
