The Vampire King's Possession
Chapter 177. Danag

Chapter 177: 177. Danag

"Danag," Mill whispered, her voice held surprise.

"Danag," Mauve cried at the open door. She was standing by the edge of the bed where Mill left her to open the door.

"Princess," Danag said with a soft nod, looking over Mill. "Ah, this is not a good time I see." His eyes scanned the room.

"Is it important?" Mauve asked with a worried expression. She took a step forward.

"It is not urgent," he said instead.

"I haven’t seen you in a while." She said the smile was a permanent resident on her face.

"I know and I apologize, it is completely my fault," Danag said, glancing downwards briefly.

"No, don’t say that," Mauve said, waving her hand. "I know you must be very busy." She looked at her toes and then back to his face.

"I will come back at a later time, let me let you get back to it. I am glad to see you are doing fine, princess."

"Thank you, Danag," Mauve said and waved to him as he started to walk away.

Mill then closed the door and started toward her. The vampire led her to the tub. She had a quick bath and stepped out of the bath.

"Are you sure I can’t wear something less hideous?" Mauve asked as Mill brought another loose dress for her to wear.

"This is comfortable and will make sure there is no pressure on your wound."

"But it is only my arm that’s injured. Why does the rest of my body have to suffer?" She whined.

"It is not that bad, Mauve?"

"Really? Have you seen the size of that dress? Three of me can fit in it." Mauve said with a horrified expression.

"The physician said to wear loose-fitting clothes," Mill said, moving close to Mauve with the dress in her hand.

"Why do you look particularly pleased with my discomfort?" Mauve asked, noting the smirk on Mill’s face.

"What discomfort? This dress? I assure you it will be very comfortable." She stopped in front of Mauve and put it over her head.

Mauve glared at her. "There is really nothing in there that fits?" Mauve asked.

"As soon as you’re healed, you can wear all the tight dresses you want," Mill said and pulled her arm through the sleeve.

"Whatever," Mauve responded and stood to her feet to pull the dress downwards.

She didn’t think she owned any of these clothes. She didn’t even want to imagine where Mill had pulled them out of but she couldn’t be choosy. At least she had something to wear.

She sat back on the bed and Mill stepped backward. "I will go get your food. Would you like anything?"

She shook her head.

"Alright, I will go right back."

"Okay."

Mill turned away from her, taking the bath water with her as she left the room.

Mauve pulled the dress as she stared and the color and size. "Ugh!" She said and let it go.

She missed her plants and the library, even annoying Erick. His presence had become part of the norm. She couldn’t wait to go back.

The door opened and as usual, Mill walked in with more than she could possibly eat. Halfway through the meal, a knock could be heard and the door opened to reveal Jean, and behind him was Danag.

"Danag," Mauve said happily. He smiled at her but didn’t say anything in response.

"The first meal is over?" Mill said but it sounded more like a statement than a question.

Jean nodded as he walked into the room. Danag walked in behind him and closed the door.

"Yes," Danag responded. "I merely led him here."

"Did you give her the herbs?" Jean asked and moved closer.

"Yes," Mill responded.

Mauve stuck out her tongue, "For some reason, it tasted nastier than I remember."

"How do you feel, princess?" Danag asked.

He sounded so serious that Mauve did not even realize that she immediately sat straighter than before.

"Definitely better than before. Jean said he would be able to take the bandage completely soon enough." She said with a soft smile. She felt a bit uneasy.

"That’s good. I’m really glad you’re getting better."

"Thank you," Mauve replied, blushing slightly. "I heard you went to the castle. How are things there?"

"Not the same," Danag said with a glum expression.

Mauve’s face fell immediately, "Did something happen?"

"Oh no, no, not in that manner. I mean it in the way that neither you nor his Grace are in it."

"Oh, I can’t wait to go back. I wish I could go as soon as possible." Mauve said with a sigh. "I am not sure I will be able to travel until I am fully healed."

"According to the physician, you should be able to travel in a few days," Danag announced slowly. His words felt heavy and he stared at her with the same intensity.

"Really?" Mauve asked, unable to hide her surprise. She turned to look at Jean for confirmation and the physician simply nodded. "How soon can I travel?"

"In about five days," Jean replied. "As long as the journey is smooth you won’t have to worry about the wound reopening or re-bruising. At this point, the pain should also be a lot more minimal."

"That’s close," Mauve said with a bright smile. "I assumed I would have to spend a couple more weeks before I can leave."

"So, you will embark on the journey back?" Danag asked, there was a slight hesitation in his words.

"Of course, I did not think I could leave before the healing is complete but now that I know I can, I can’t wait." Mauve chuckled, her face bright with excitement. "Just five days, I can count it on one palm."

Mill smiled stiffly at her, "Wouldn’t it be best if she waited until you are sure there wouldn’t be any kind of tear before she traveled back to the castle? Wouldn’t that be advisable?" She spoke directly to the physician.
