Chapter 171: 171. Flow Downwards
"You can leave Mill, I will take it from here," Jael said, staring at Mill as he spoke.
"Oh," Mill responded, her expression telling nothing. "Of course, please call for me if you need anything."
She bowed slightly and began to retreat toward the door with her back.
Mauve tried not to look surprised at Jael’s offer to feed her but Jael could tell she was. However, this was better for him than for her. He needed something to distract him from his thoughts.
He didn’t want to leave her alone after what she just had to go through and by the look on her face she didn’t want him to go either. However, being in her presence was getting harder and harder.
Jael moved so he was sitting on the edge of the bed. "You may leave, Mill," Jael ordered. "You can return after the second meal is over."
Mill nodded and bowed, she turned away from him and opened the door. She walked out and the servant slipped out behind Mill with his head bowed.
The door closed and Jael turned to look at Mauve. Even though she was sitting upright, she was visibly bending her neck. There was a hint of color on her cheeks.
"Y-you don’t have to feed me," she was saying. "I know my arm hurts but it doesn’t hurt that badly and you have to eat too if you feed me you won’t be able to eat."
Jael squinted his eyes at her, "Raise your head, you can’t eat if you keep your head bent." He looked away from her and scooped some food and brought it close to her. "Here," he said.
Mauve raised her eyes to look at Jael without raising her head. She puffed her cheeks and said, "I can feed myself."
"Here," he repeated, moving the food closer.
"You are not listening to me," she said and raised her head to glare at him.
"I am," he said softly. "I am telling you it’s no problem. I can always eat later. Besides, you are a slow eater. Now eat up and stop worrying."
She looked like she was about to put up a fight but then she sighed and Jael could visibly see her shoulders fall. She opened her mouth and moved her chin forward.
Jael carefully pushed the cutlery into her open mouth, putting his other hand under to avoid any from spilling out. He pulled out the spoon and Mauve carefully chewed.
He waited for a couple of seconds and gave her another spoon. She accepted it with a frown. By the third spoon, she glared at him.
"When are you going to eat?"
"When you’re done," he said and pushed the spoon to her lips, "Open up."
She refused to open her mouth and he slightly raised a brow.
"The longer you take, the longer it would take for me to eat." He said with a hint of a smile on his lips.
Mauve gasped, "Don’t threaten me like that." She rolled her eyes and opened her mouth.
She took another bite and licked the side of her lips to get off the residue. Jael froze as he felt all the blood in his body flow downwards. He adjusted in his seat and looked away from her.
"I am full," Mauve said after a while. "I couldn’t possibly eat any more." She cried.
Jael looked at her with disbelief in his gaze. "You have barely eaten half," he said with an unimpressed expression.
"I am full," Mauve said, blinking rapidly.
"Fine," Jael said, pulling back the spoon. "You can eat the rest later."
Mauve glared at him as he pulled the plates away. "Aren’t you going to eat?"
Jael shrugged, "Don’t have any appetite." He replied without looking at her. He was hungry for something completely different.
"You said you will eat after I do," Mauve whined.
"Did I?" Jael said and slowly turned to look at her.
Her eyes widened and she wanted to snap at him but he touched her cheeks and slowly stood on his feet. He leaned forward and took her lips a little forcefully.
Mauve’s eyes widened a little but quickly closed as she yielded to his intrusion. His fangs grazed her lips as his tongue pushed into her lips. He wanted her to taste his desire as he kissed her hard, tasting the meal on her lips.
He pulled away and her eyes flew open to look at him, he could see the desire in them. Her chest heaved as she breathed in. He could also hear the loud beating of her heart.
His eyes trailed to her neck and her wrapped shoulder came into view, Jael pulled back immediately. The tang of guilt made his mouth sour, it did nothing to his arousal as he was still as hard as a rock.
His nose was filled with her smell, the smell of blood, the smell of herbs and food. Even with the influx of different smells, all he could concentrate on was her.
"Don’t worry about me, get some rest. I will eat later. I have to go, if you need anything tell Mill." His words sounded hoarse and the fangs made it a little hard to speak.
She nodded, her cheeks a pale pink as she looked away from her. He wondered what she was thinking about but he was sure he could take a quick guess.
He stood to his full height and turned away from her. He ran his hand through his hair with his back to her as he tried to compose himself. He walked to the door and briefly turned around to see her looking at him. He walked out of the room and closed the door without saying anything.
Jael ran his tongue over his teeth as he pulled away from her room’s door. He made his way down the stairs. He wanted to go to the basement to meet up with Kieran.
As he got to the end of the stairs, the guards standing by the front door immediately bowed. Before he could acknowledge them, the door flew open and Danag walked in with a weird look on his face.
