The Vampire King's Possession -
Chapter 151. Made Of Fabric
Chapter 151: 151. Made Of Fabric
"Are you certain of him?" Jael asked.
"No," Damon said softly.
"What? Are you out of your mind, Damon? You brought a physician you’re not sure of." He took a step closer to Damon, the air sizzled as he walked forward.
"I wouldn’t dare make such a mistake, Sire. I am not certain of the physician. However, I am sure he knows what he needs to do. Yes, I didn’t do any clarifications as I wasn’t sure there was enough time for that still, I am certain he is a good enough physician. There was no hint of hesitancy when I asked only modesty."
Jael squinted at him, "Pray you’re right. Neither of you will leave here intact if anything should happen to her."
They weren’t the only ones, he would pay a visit to the King. If Mauve didn’t survive this, the alliance was over and he intended to let the vampires let loose on them but not before he ripped him to shreds.
He still couldn’t believe the letter. His head was spinning from the contents. He knew he was just taking his anger out on Damon but he could not stop himself. There was no way Damon would bring someone he wasn’t a little sure of.
"Yes, Sire. As you wish. I wouldn’t dare put her life at risk in such a manner. I promise." Damon said bowing low.
"Your words right now don’t mean much. Nevertheless, I do believe you wouldn’t be that careless. Leave me!"
Damon nodded with his head bent and was gone in a second without making a sound.
Jael had to stop from punching the side of the house. He didn’t want to leave a dent in the wall. He also didn’t want to think about what he would do if she didn’t survive. He knew even he wouldn’t want to see the outcome.
He wanted to leave the estate but he couldn’t, not right now. This was a crucial time, he had to be as close as possible. However, he was worried. He wasn’t sure if he would be able to see her when she awoke.
He could not stop thinking about the fact that he couldn’t protect her. She was so weak and yet he couldn’t keep her safe. He did not think he would be able to bear the look in her eyes.
There was also the fact that if she wasn’t in the Vampire Regions, she would never have been attacked by a paler. She was here because of him even though she didn’t fit in, in any way.
Jael groaned and pushed himself off the walls. He wanted to know how things were going. He started walking and pushed the doors open. The guards looked startled when he walked in but it was just their reaction that had his attention.
Two servants were running across the path. He frowned as he stared at them, wondering what was happening. They bowed as they saw him and were about to continue on their way when he spoke.
"What’s going on?" He asked sternly.
"The physician, your grace." One of the servants said. "He has a lot of requests."
"What kind of requests?"
The servant’s eyes darted around, Jael could see his urgency but he didn’t need to know what was going on. He waved his hand at the other servant so they might be on their way.
"Warm water and lots of towels. He also asked for a soup to be made with certain herbs he provided."
"Anything else?" He asked.
"N-not that I know of, Sire." The servant still had his head bent.
Jael waved his hand and the servant started walking away after giving Jael one last bow.
He looked up to the stairs. From where he stood, he could see the entrance to the room she was in. He couldn’t sense anything. Maybe, if he went closer.
He steadily took the stairs, dreading each moment as he got closer. He got in front of the door and before his hand could touch the knob, he went past it. It wasn’t like he would be of any help.
...
Mauve sneezed loudly as something tickled her nose. A strong smell flowed up her nose and Mauve felt like her head was about to explode. Her eyes flew open as her mind awoken.
Before she could register anything, she felt pain. A pain so intense, it brought water to her eyes and blurred her vision. She remembered why she didn’t want to wake up.
She couldn’t even shout, she didn’t have any energy to. Her body felt worn out and badly wanted to go back to sleep. At least, there wasn’t any pain there. Being awake was too stressful.
"Mauve," Mill’s voice called to her and she felt somebody lift her to a sitting position. She opened her eyes but couldn’t really comprehend what she was seeing.
A man was peering into her face. For some reason, she could tell he was a man and not a vampire. He was checking her eyes. He held it open and it closed when he let it go.
"Drink this," he said and brought a bowl to her lips.
Mauve no attempt. She wanted to push it away but she couldn’t even move her hands.
"Hold her like this," he ordered.
He put a bowl to her mouth and pried it open. Mauve felt warm liquid in her mouth. It felt soothing but she didn’t know what to do with it so it just settled in her mouth. She couldn’t really taste it but it didn’t feel uncomfortable.
"Swallow," he cajoled.
She tried to and her throat hurt as she did, almost like the soup burnt it. Tears flowed down her face as she tried to refuse but she couldn’t shake her head. Her body felt like it was made of fabric and it moved in no particular direction.
Suddenly, she started to choke. The bowl was immediately pulled away from her face as she coughed but it wasn’t strong enough to clear her throat and she felt panic rise up.
